    I recently spent hours riveting the 1:48 Revell SBD dauntless, with Rosie the riveter... This method is "insane" but at the same time beautiful result as Always! And yes, whatelse to do on a sunday afternoon? Self torture of corse! Stay safe!👍🙂🇵🇹

    Beautiful work. Probably the best way to convey bare metal on an aircraft rather than using metal paints. I would love to see if application of foil like this would work well for either engine exhausts or nozzles. Cheers!

    I like to approach it as a kind of meditative act. It's not torture at all! It becomes a pleasure.

    How does x22 as an adhesive bond if you stretch the foil around compound curves? Please have a look at my work on this for some ideas. Self adhesive tape is indeed too soft and thick

      Hi, it works on every panel with kitchen foil if you are not planning to masking. I've used many foils and adhesives last 20 years. I like to use hardware store materials on my videos much accessible to everyone. That's why I use that foil on the video. Also this one will be finished in not metallic. I will apply a heavy paint chipping effect want to add those rivet details. That's why I prefer to cover with foil instead of metallic paint. My goal was not a perfect foil covering job.

    I think that a very light sanding with a rigid backed, thin foam, very fine sanding stick, block, or pad would improve it a little. It looks great already, but this is what I'm thinking.

    Hello. Great video.
    I would like to try the same thing with my P51.
    By adhesive X22, do you mean ALTECO-X22?
    Or perhaps Tamiya's acrylic X22 clear paint?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  7 місяців тому

      Any foil adhesive selling in art stores would be better but yes it' Tamiya X-22.

    Interesting.
    Wouldn't it help to first airbrush a quick layer of silver before the application to also take care of the appearance in any gaps or hard to modify areas?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  8 місяців тому

      Maybe but I don't prefer any paint layer between panel and foil. That causes another problems.

    Hi. Besides X22 as glue, what other glue you can use? Thanks

    • @Scaleaton

      Future, White glue, Microscale Foil glue (this one is the best but not cheap and can't find everywhere)

    Böyle tecrübelerinizi paylaştığtığınız videolar çoğalırsa çok sevinirim. Yıllardır paylaştığınız Tick'ler benim için çok güzel ve değerli bir kaynak.
    Sivilci olduğunuz için iyi bildiğinize emin olduğum BMF'i (Bare Metal Foil) niye tercih etmediğinizi merak ettim doğrusu.

      Teşekkürler Cem Bey. Bunlar videoların içinde kaybolup gidiyordu, başlıkla öne çıkartayım diyorum artık ben de zaten. BMF pahalı :) Bir de perçin izini yapınca her türlü folyo kabarıyor, hepsini denedim. Üç haftadır saç baş yolduruyor bana. En sonunda doğalgaz bandını dayadım gitti işte :)

    Hi! You have set yourself two difficult tasks at once: covering with foil and riveting it.
    Maybe by using a thinner foil, you could make the original rivets appear through...
    Not an easy job in any case.

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi Radu, things happened completely random. I didn't plan these :) I've used every type of foil but after punching them with the handmade tool they puffed up the next day. Then it turned into stubbornness and I won.

    It's very time consuming and tedious with bare metal foil and I don't think it looks that great. Airbrushing different Alclad laquer alloys on top of gloss black lacquer looks way better if you know the tricks!
