God, you can always tell when a reviewer knows nothing about the story line. Lord Bridgerton, Viscount before Anthony, died from a bee sting. It affected all his children in deep, painful ways - partially because the Bridgerton parents were deeply in love, and it hurts the children that their mother lost her beloved. Each one has to overcome it. The bee isn't a symbol of their group. It's a symbol of them daring to take a risk on love. The Featheringtons aren't new money. Their line is fairly similar to the Bridgertons, actually. And Penelope will visibly change and grow into elegance as she takes charge of her life. Her character has to grow up, and take control of herself. But her mother IS clueless and desperate and a little avaricious.
Inaccurate undergarments and placements. They used a corset in bare skin, when a corset would have been worn over a chemise (nightgown) a garment that would have been washed frequently to help keep the fancier fabrics clean. Not to mention that during the regency era, women wore a form of the modern day bra called a brassiere that supported the bust and not the bust and skirts (not just because the 'waistline' was higher, but also because the fabrics were lighter)
The bruises are there at the beginning as an insight into how much Daphne is willing to do to herself to make a good match. She'll literally do herself harm to attain the imaginary future. You'll notice her corsets become more forgiving as she becomes more comfortable with herself, and then even more as the Duchess. It's as much about her sexual awakening, as anything else - ease of access equals ease with her own body, and ultimately ease as herself. Simon helps her learn to be herself, and in the end she has to decide if she values the way he taught her to be at peace with herself and the love they share in the moment is enough to give up the imaginary future she yearned for. But he also has to decide if a future being loved by Daphne and their children is worth giving up his pride at having bested his father. The show puts the emphasis on the latter but the book explores both. In the book she doesn't take him back on the condition they have children, she decides she loves him enough to be ok whatever their future holds. But he comes to her, having learned the same lesson... That he can't control everything or guard his heart from pain like his father inflicted. All he can do is love her and keep moving forward.
I have read all the Bridgerton books so I know the story line. But I was so caught up in watching the show I missed all the nuggets. I didn't want to take my eye off of the characters to watch the background for fear of missing something. Good thing it's on Netflx, cause the next season I will most likely be watching the same way. LOL! By the way I read the books feverishly as well! LOL!!
4:03 “The characters themselves often hint at what is to come!” Uuuuhm. I don’t think the seamstress’ true accent was meant to be a secret until she was called out by Marina. It was literally discussed in the show multiple times before then. So I think everyone should have ‘guessed her secret’ before Marina’s call out 🤭🧐
Also... The whole deal is that for aaaaaages dressmakers in Britain pretended to be French to add caché to their shops. Her being not really French is a given and actually Marina reveals her humble origins by making it into an issue, even if it twists the dressmaker's arm a bit.
Yeah right? Also, tightlacing makes no dang sense for regency dresses, like what? Why would you tightlace for a dress that falls pretty wide from your bust down anyways?!
In the show it's Free-drick, yes, but in actuallity either are incorrect. The R's in the name is surely rolled, as germans do. Spoken on the front mouth with the tongue vibrating on the roof of the mouch. & as to the CH in Friedrich... hm, I'm german, it's difficult to explain when it's normal to you. I would say the positioning of the tongue is like saying K in english (only the K, not the "ay"), then breath out harshly. :D sounds a bit like a cat hissing. Maybe I sound odiously precise about my descriptions, maybe another german will feel how awkward it is to explain how to speak the language you speak out of intuition. x)
In the book, they didn’t reveal lady whistledown until they told Penelope story, I love the books ! , I hope they don’t change to too much of the stories
Queen Charlotte and King George lived at Hampton Court Palace, where most of the exterior scenes of the Queen were actually shot. So renovations to Buckingham Palace are meaningless. Many improvements were made to Hampton Court during the Georgian Era but were mostly complete by the Regency period.
The scene in White's between Anthony and the Duke, when Anthony's drinking beer. Watch how the level in the glass doesn't follow the continuity, as it goes down and than back up again.
Has anyone else noticed the similarities between Bridgerton and the other Shonda Rhimes productions? There are common themes showing up in both Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.
I love Bridgerton and I don’t think it is ever intended to be very historically accurate. Makes me laugh that anyone would suggest Bridgerton is historically accurate and deserves an A for it!
Actually, Violet Bridgerton agreed to that, after commenting that Lady Whistledown, mentioned that the Bridgerton children were named alphabetically, to which she commented, that both she and their father thought it orderly.
Did anyone notice, that Simon wears the same black jacket and white shirt in his wedding, that he wore in the dream sequence, where Daphne and he, almost locked lips together?
Here's a question: if you say "bee" in english, is it exchangeable with "bumble-bee"? Or is it simply that the show-runners can't see the difference between those species?
at 5:30 that is Mrs. Berbrooke not Brimsley. That is Mr. Berbrooke's mom. Brimsley is Queen Charlotte's right hand man. I don't know if anyone noticed.
Who really cares about historical inaccuracies, because I'm assuming that most people were more interested in Simon, anyway to even care about history. It's a fantasy storyline after-all, so no need to get caught up on anything historical, anyway.
Penelope is holding a feather quill in the opening scene. That was another Easter egg. I also thought that her nickname being "Pen" was a huge clue and quite an adorable one too. Also it's Berbrooke, not Brimsley. And viscount is pronounced "vye-count", not "viss-count".
Does daphne name her musical composition in the books? Or is it something added in the show? Do we get to know what she names it after repeated reminders form Eloise?
Well, the only thing that I assume would have come to Daphne's mind, when you look at the smile on her face could have only been, 'When I touch myself,'
You guys know, that Netflix provides titles of the songs when you watch the show with subtitles? What sort of "secret" is that? Perhaps Daphne wouldn't have her chafings and scars, if she wore a petticoat or a shift underneath her corset? As any woman of that period would.
Bridgeton is a soap opera, not at all close to the history. It is a mix of everything what attracts without any logic. Far from, for example, Andrew Davis excellent adaptations.
The corset stuff is utter crap though, tight lacing was looked down on and no one wore a corset directly against their skin so the bruising or whatever wouldn’t have existed. They’re for support and a nice silhouette, not tight lacing

LOL!!
Getting lady Featherington and Whistledown confused multiple times!!
I've watched it 3 times and everytime I see details previusly missed. Im on book 6. Must read!
What's the name of the book? Bridgerton?
@@itxshruti
1) the Duke and I
2) the viscount who loved me
And so on
4:03 “The characters themselves often hint at what is to come!”
Uuuuhm.
They did a good job 👏🏽 love from Cameroon 🇨🇲
6:25
Corsets and stays next to the skin. And no CHEMISE !!
Yeah right? Also, tightlacing makes no dang sense for regency dresses, like what? Why would you tightlace for a dress that falls pretty wide from your bust down anyways?!
Penelope had a yorkie in one of the first scenes but they didnt exist in 1804, the breed was created in the 1870s.
Excellent observations - but it’s Pronounced VIE-count - not viscount and FReedrick, not Frederick. Also “lady whistle down” not “lady featherington”
The narrator could slow down a little bit. Why at the ball there was 1 color scheme for the lady dresses?
Each ball had a color scheme in keeping with the host family's colors.
@@JudyLeeThurber thanks. Too bad. That made it so boring to look at
Queen Charlotte and King George lived at Hampton Court Palace, where most of the exterior scenes of the Queen were actually shot. So renovations to Buckingham Palace are meaningless. Many improvements were made to Hampton Court during the Georgian Era but were mostly complete by the Regency period.
In the first episode maroon 5 girls like you was played
I notice Eloise wearing bee barrette in her hair, while saying Good bye to Daphne heading out on her honeymoon.
How dare you. 0:27 THATS BENEDICT
Where’s coffee cup shown in picture of video??
Now I definitely have to rewatch it 🤦🏽♀️
I always wondered about that bee
The bridgerton father died by a bee sting.
Thats a whole lottaa thinking😂
0:28 NOT Y’ALL MIXING UP BENEDICT AND ANTHONY, the bee is on BENEDICTS collar not Anthony’s 😂🤦♀️
Great summary!
An inaccurate summary. So many details either pure speculation or just plain wrong.
The scene in White's between Anthony and the Duke, when Anthony's drinking beer. Watch how the level in the glass doesn't follow the continuity, as it goes down and than back up again.
here's me thinking that the bee is actually Edmund Bridgerton.
Has anyone else noticed the similarities between Bridgerton and the other Shonda Rhimes productions? There are common themes showing up in both Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.
Yes, as Regé-Jean said, you can't be happy for more than 5 minutes in one of her productions. :)
I love Bridgerton and I don’t think it is ever intended to be very historically accurate. Makes me laugh that anyone would suggest Bridgerton is historically accurate and deserves an A for it!
Yes.... For example I don't think men went down on women those days
The bridgerton kids are names in alphabetical order lmao I didn’t Realize till like the last episode
Daphne is wearing the same ring playing the piano as the wedding ring that Simon slides on her finger in the ceremony.
Am I the only one who wondered how the Duke got out of his boots so quickly in those steamy love scenes?
I just wish season 2 will still focus on the duke and duchess
at 5:30 that is Mrs. Berbrooke not Brimsley. That is Mr. Berbrooke's mom. Brimsley is Queen Charlotte's right hand man. I don't know if anyone noticed.
Also the bee that flys out the window in the end
Lol irony is at 28 secs u mentioned Anthony's brother as Anthony 😂
“Viss-count” is not how it’s pronounced...
It’s v-eye-count
Are you kidding me? An "A" on history? Really?? There's so much to de-bunk on that! Warning, there's plenty of glaring historical inaccuracies!!!
Who really cares about historical inaccuracies, because I'm assuming that most people were more interested in Simon, anyway to even care about history. It's a fantasy storyline after-all, so no need to get caught up on anything historical, anyway.
thumbnail is a clickbait.
I suspected Penelope from the minute someoone called her 'Pen' after all, what do you write with?
Penelope is holding a feather quill in the opening scene. That was another Easter egg. I also thought that her nickname being "Pen" was a huge clue and quite an adorable one too.
Also it's Berbrooke, not Brimsley. And viscount is pronounced "vye-count", not "viss-count".
huh the queens assistent aint berbrooke 😂
You were right with the 🐝
The father died of a bee sting in the second book! I read all the books! I’m glad they are on Netflix!
It’s not vis-count it’s vy-count
Brimsley? His name is Burbrook. Lord Burbrook.
It’s NOT Brimsley , it’s Lord BERBROOK…”the Loathsome toad”‼️ Brimsley is the Queen’s servant!
I love when they play bad guy at the ball you can barely notice it 😂😜
two things: they actually leave it there to copy cat Game of Thrones or they didn't read the brief😂🤣
it’s the viss-count for me
Well, you're very wrong, and need to pronounce words properly.
Spoiler alert! Penelope is Whistledown. Whistledown is Penelope. Penelope is Whistledown and Whistledown is Penelope.
Fake thumbnail. Where did the starbucks come from?
_Game of Thrones,_ from what I can tell. I certainly never noticed such a thing in _Bridgerton._
Does daphne name her musical composition in the books? Or is it something added in the show? Do we get to know what she names it after repeated reminders form Eloise?
Oh I want to know this too! After 2 months and still no one answered. Somebody help!
Well, the only thing that I assume would have come to Daphne's mind, when you look at the smile on her face could have only been, 'When I touch myself,'
For the love of God the S in Viscount is SILENT!
You guys know, that Netflix provides titles of the songs when you watch the show with subtitles? What sort of "secret" is that?
Perhaps Daphne wouldn't have her chafings and scars, if she wore a petticoat or a shift underneath her corset? As any woman of that period would.
I always knew and suspected penolepe is the real wistledown.
Bridgeton is a soap opera, not at all close to the history. It is a mix of everything what attracts without any logic. Far from, for example, Andrew Davis excellent adaptations.
Once again.... you didn't watch did you? I'm sure you meant Lady Whistledown... not Lady Featherstone?
The title Viscount is pronounced with a long I and the s is silent. I believe it originally was French.
Fake thumbnail 👎🏾
I've heard each and every melody
Bruh I keep rewatching this movie since yesterday I started watching it.... Simon is click
all of these things feel like way off when you actually read the book LOL
Surely its who blew the secret behind Lady whistledown's secret identity not Lady Featherington.🤔
The corset stuff is utter crap though, tight lacing was looked down on and no one wore a corset directly against their skin so the bruising or whatever wouldn’t have existed. They’re for support and a nice silhouette, not tight lacing
Just a question.. what does new money means when they refer to the featheringtons?
new money means that they only recently became rich, they do not come from wealth. The difference is that old money is money that has been gained through generations, so they have accumulated wealth. The difference between the 2 is that old money is more respected since it has been in their family for generations while new money is like eh let’s see if it’ll last them kind of thing
@@TacoLover09876 thank you!
I’ve also seen another UA-cam video and the two families were described as The Kennedy’s meets the Kardashian’s. Old money, new money
New money is also unnecessarily loud compared to the other one
Girrrllll you smart ☺️☺️
Are there going to be a part 2
Yes they start filming this doing the second season and one outlet reported they signed on for 7 or 8 so had to be sure they’d be available and or not to accept any other roles that might interfere!!!
