Thanks, great video. Will be doing mine this weekend. Did my radiator six months ago, then the trans cooler was still good. Now it looks like yours did. PS. not recommended to use a pressure washer on a radiator. It will bend all the thin aluminum cooling fins. Spray with a spray bottle with hot water and dish washing soap, let it sit for a while, then spray with just hot water from a spray bottle.
You mention you’re truck temperature would up before you put the transmission cooler on did it stop doing that after you put the new transmission cooler on thank you
Robertson Pulling Team I’m guessing you were talking about the engine temperature mine is doing that we’re the engine temperature goes up when I’m pulling a trailer
Robertson Pulling Team oh okay I replace both of them water and thermostat but is still doing that that’s why I ask about the transmission cooler maybe cussing that thank you so much brother for replying back
Well don't feel bad! Everyone on UA-cam comes home from work and decides to start a project, and runs out of light instead of waiting for the weekend, and doing it with a lot less stress. Lol
Just finished my 03 ram Cummins. I ordered my cooler from Rock Auto as well and went with the cheapest one. It installed okay, but the quick disconnect lines wouldn't connect. I had to use emery cloth to remove enough material ( basically shrinking the outside diameter of the new cooler lines ) for the connection to make up. I removed a small amount at a time. It took 4 installs, but it worked with no leaks. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I was glad I wasn't the only one who was having issues.
Good info👍🏼👍🏼,,, did your truck smell like trans fluid when you got off the truck after driving?. Mine is running a leak downs the radiator I’m mostly certain that is from the trans cooler now. I get a slight smell of trans fluid coming into the cab a bit.
I bought the same one from rock auto for my 5.9 Cummins. The one line clipped into the radiator notch but the other was not even close. The lines were also almost impossible to get clicked onto the new cooler. I’ll admit that it makes me a little nervous about the lines breaking since the one is so close to the inter cooler pipe and not supported
I hear ya man! It was no where near a factory fit but so far it’s been fine and hasn’t leaked a drop. That lower line had me nervous as well and they was also very close to each other so I put a piece of rubber between the two steel lines to keep them from attempting from rubbing! Hope yours lasts like mine has so far! Thanks for watching🤙🏼
I just went and looked back on rock auto where I purchased but I didn’t see the brand I had bought but it looks identical to the Dorman brand and some of the others as well.
Great video. Did you lose any trans fluid when you disconnected the lines? Or the pump doesn't push fluid when the truck is off? Looking to upgrade my trans cooler as well.
Nice video man! I’m planning to do this to my 03 Cummins. Cooler finally shit the bed. Just curious what was the tool you used to disconnect the lines and did you notice any drop in trans temp with new cooler vs old one?
Thank you sir! I can’t vouch for if it cooled it down as I don’t have a trans temp gauge but I would imagine it did bc the old cooler was plugged! I just used a fuel line disconnect tool as it uses the same type of fittings on the hoses!
Great video. I am glad you showed how that tool you got worked. I plan on upgrading my trans cooler to a towing one which is larger capacity. But it seemed that tool made the process rather easy.
Thanks for the video! Now I can do it

I don’t remember which temp I said tbh but I did not have a trans temp gauge in the truck

Yep mine did it and I replaced both the thermostat and a sleeping water pump

Maybe still have an air pocket in the cooling system?!

100% right lol
Just ordered a mopar replacement let’s hope it fits perfectly . All together with shipping was 175 One thing I won’t cheap out on is cooling parts .
Not to bad on price! Hope it fixed your issue!
Did it fit?

Happy to help! Glad you got your rig fixed up!
Did washing radiator fix the engine temperature problem?
It’s helped a little but ended up being the thermostat! All is well now
Robertson Pulling Team Thanks for the return reply! Going to give that a try!
No problem!
$60! Holy moly I went with the Mishimoto because of the warranty
Quick question was that on a g56 because my 06 is leaking under the driver side but I was told manuals don’t have trans cooler lines I’m struggling
No this was a 48re. Correct manuals don’t have coolers
I got to do my truck where can I get a good one that fits?
Rock Auto is where I got mine. They sell the molar cooler and other brands
How did you know it was bad and not just a line? Mine is dripping off from my radiator from one side to the other.
Once I got a closer look at it while it was removed there was some cracking in the welds near the top and was dripping fluid
Thanks for the help I’m doing mine tonight
Glad to help!

Every now and then if I was towing it would smell like trans fluid but it had to get real hot!

Ya being black is a disadvantage but so far so good!
What brand was it if you recall?
I just went and looked back on rock auto where I purchased but I didn’t see the brand I had bought but it looks identical to the Dorman brand and some of the others as well.
On any truck Brand trans cooler just the bolt holes even the best mishimoto the bolts dont line up great job.
Nice job!!! I'm doing mine soon that's leaking. Roughly how much trans fluid did you have to add after changing it out? Thanks
I don’t think it was very much maybe a couple quarts!
@@Tyler_Robertson Great thanks!
Great video. Did you lose any trans fluid when you disconnected the lines? Or the pump doesn't push fluid when the truck is off? Looking to upgrade my trans cooler as well.
It lost very little, just what was left in the cooler. I think I only had to add maybe not even half a quart!
Really helpful!
Glad to help! Thank you!
Good job!

Really easy tool to use and it is universal! Can also use it for fuel systems as well! Thank you for watching!
