- Welcome to Sonne Farms! On this channel we showcase numerous jobs a Corn/Soybean/Beef producing operation takes on each day. Hop in the cab or sorting alley with Cole, Brian, and Jeff, to see how life really is for the people that help feed the US and the rest of the world. In addition to Corn, Soy, and Cattle, Sonne Farms puts up grass and alfalfa and sells pure bred Black Angus Bulls in South Dakota.

Cole and Brian, apologies if you know this already. In horse breeding a foal can sometimes be born too fast, or the brain doesn't quite kick in that they are born. They are known as dummy foals and have similar appearance to your calf. Some vets devised a system of ropes, which basically you put around the foal, then squeeze down them from head to tail, giving the foal the feeling of being born. That has had a good outcome for setting off the hormones needed and a very good recovery for the foal. I have no idea if it works with calves. If you are interested, you can search the Madigan foal squeeze technique on you tube. I hope the calf is ok.
Seen it done, seen it save a Very expensive Arabian colt in less than 15 minutes.
Google has search hits on "Weak Calf Syndrome and the Madigan Squeeze"
Everyday is a school day in life !!
Amazing ; great advice
Regards
Brian Dawson Edinburgh Scotland 😀
Fingers crossed for baby bull.---Cole, I did wonder about you hopping that fence, worried about that knee.
I thought the same thing about him running across possible uneven ground.
Hopefully the Bull Clave gets better. Seemed odd to be shaking after being in the heater. Looking forward to the update on him in next video;
Yeah that happens you get older you start thinking about this old school days

Decision Matrix for Vet exam?
Hauler's dream. Back up to the same chute and drop a load and get a load without turning a wheel. Nice. That guy will be looking for a Sonne haul again.
Had a good laugh about Brians Dentist bringing up that wooden ball story.🤣 I always remembered that son of the day as 'In My Hands Again', had to look it up. Hope you guys get enough but not too much moisture for spring planting this year, I know we are a fair amount behind average here so far. Thanks for the video!
Sending PRAYERS for the baby calf...
You both work VERY hard with your Farm...
Hugs & Blessings Always 🙏❤️💙💖💙🐕...💙🤗✝️
14:50 mama cow reaction .. great
Indeed!

No better video than watching all those beautiful babies. 😍
I love Sonne Farms because they have some of the cleanest barns and take great care of their stock ❤️ ♥️ 💜 thank you Brian and Cole and Uncle (forgotten name, needs to be on more) Jeff 😊
I am so glad you show the good the bad and the ugly things of your Business/Life so we see and understand the down side also is important prayers for the calf to respond if possible god bless you guys
Congratulations on being shouted out by Corbett Wall on his feeder flash video on the price
you received for this group of heifers
Which episode was that?
@Ergzay about 10 days ago
I hope your little bull gets better and the vet can sort him out. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You sure do look after your animals Great to see. Great job
Ahh Cole so that’s where you got your experience of running away and jumping over fences from these scary momas! I have to say though how amazing was that mum, she seemed genuinely concerned for her calf and was patiently waiting for him to come to her. Hope he came good it definitely isn’t lack of love from both of you guys that’s for sure xx
Thank you for another great video. You are great stewards of your land and cattle.
Cole, if it had been me in that race instead of you, I probably still would’ve come in second. Congratulations on the win!
Always a pleasure to spend time with the Sonne guys!! You two work together so well, it makes me want to be a part of the team. Thanks again for an informative and inspiring video. Great work guys.
Cole you and your dad are first in my mind the way you after youcows and calves keep up the good work i worked in the horse industry for over 50 years it was a 24 7 job
It’s a pleasure to see how well you care for your cattle. Love calving time.
Thank you both again for taking the time to upload your content! It's a lot of hard work to do, especially when you are doing a bunch of hard work.
Remember everyone, Cole and Brian respond to you only on here. This is the platform that they will talk to us on.
Much respect guys, I raised hogs for 30+ years, about a 1/4 the work as those cattle...
Wishing the best for the calf, hope the little feller turns into the biggest bull yet. Lone hurdler, 😂 love these stories:)
Thanks again for your work, comedy etc.😊
Cole, you’re too honest. You didn’t have to say that you were running against yourself! Hope your baby clave gets stronger. I watch you guy’s doing the same things and I still love it. 🌹❤️ NJ
I’m graduating from my 4020 and 4230 to buying a 7420 in a few weeks , it’s new to me but a 2002 model .
So in that event that day everyone got a trophy! 🏆
Enjoyed the visual of Sonne cattle from trailer load as babies to big girls on the potbelly. Nice looking cattle’s!
One of the best videos yet! You and that calf made my heart get warm. You’re a good man Cole.
I have the same 110 hurdles story. Ran by myself, except my high school had a crap track and this was at a good track, so my stride got jacked up, so I basically had to stop and step over one hurdle. Still got first place.
Hope the little calf gets to feeling better. Glad your dad was satisfied with the sale of the cattle.
Just for the record I like the barn cleaning videos. I love the song of the day. Hi. Miss. Ellie Mae she is always under foot waiting for some love ❤ good dog. Hi to your wife Cole.
Congratulations Cole! I never would have guessed your a track Star!!
Great job Cole & Brian’s on keeping all going and ruining like a clock .
Love how Elly was right there with Cole helping the new baby bull. Cole I can see you helping all the children in your family helping them take their first step. Again Sonne farms is taking amazing care of their cattle, Cole and Brian really do an outstanding job of raising their cows. God bless.
How big would an operation have to be when they would just put it down?
If you can get that calf up and going it's money in the pocket if not it's a loss for feeding the cow all year
🙏🙏 the calf continues to get better!! Have a great weekend
Glad Brian's heifers sold good. Hope the little fellow gets better.
Calf madness nearly over You be knocking the dust off the bottle soon I hoping for 2378 bales of hay
Love the colour commentary surrounding the clave.
ENJOYED watching the video Cole and Brian 😊
We couldn't have seen you, Cole. You were lightning-fast. Just like when you ran the hurdles.
I saw you takeoff in the corner of the screen. I guess when you were going after the calf, that was funny to see you Zoom ‼️🤓
Another great video. Cole, I am nicknaming you Flash since you are lightning fast. Always enjoy watching your videos and interaction between you guys and how you care for the animals.
Anytime some doofus blue hair on the internet claims farmers don't care for their cattle, point them to the 14:00 mark of this video and tell them to pound sand. Well done, Cole!!! At least got him up and at 'em.
awesome video Cole and Mr. B.. Please let us know how the little sick clave is doing. thank you guys so much
I like the confused concerned look Brian gave when you started saying "tacklin fueeel".
Cole great video as usual! Congratulations 🎊 🎉 on your 100 meter hurdle win! I love the care you guys give your animals!👍
Good morning! And have a great day!

Thanks for another great video Cole and Brian.
It was most interesting and enjoyable.
Sorry you are having problems with that bull calf. Looks like a nice size calf but just not taking off. Glad you are taking it to the vet. Let us know how he does. Hopefully he will get better.
Time to clean the calf barn and put in new bedding. You both are excellent herdsmen and treat your livestock super good. Thanks Sonne’s. You are the best.
Nice loads of heifers going to the sale barn and nice ones you got in return. Hang in there.
Busy day you and dad had with everything going on. Brian thanks for the song of the day. I have to check that one out. Don’t know that one. Thanks Brian.
Nice work setting up those wind breaks and feed bunks. Good equipment to have.
Thanks for everything Cole. You both take care and be safe.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
In lieu of a slappy, my dad would wave his hat.😁 Whatever worked.
Great, sunny/Sonne video as usual. Thanks!
So happy we get another year of videos. Let us know about the clave
Awesome video guys. It's always kool seeing how you handle the cattle. Great job. 🚜🚜🚜🐃🐃🐃
Good to hear about your calf’s selling good you run a good farm and take the care of them . 😊
Thanks for the video!
Truly showing how much you care about about your livestock Cole. Congratulations on finishing first! I always tell people l graduated third in my class, the first two girls were valedictorian/salutatorian and then I was the shortest boy in my class.
Well it seems like things are going well for you guys!!!! God bless .❤️🙏🇺🇲
Good day gentlemen, real glad to hear the sale went well. Cole you impress me all the time. The care you show the calves. Coming in first in the race. lol. I was wondering how those bales were just right where you needed them. God bless you both. Brian congrats on a great sale. Thanks for all you do. 😊
Favorite UA-cam channel
Run Forest run 😂. At least ur track running helped u catch that runaway calf 😮💨 cause you on your own in that one too 😂😂 . Thank Dad 🤗
Thanks
Great video Brian and Cole
I’m watching this video a little later in the day. Good luck with that calf my prayers well to him. I hope he makes it. Thanks for the great video guys.
All that land you have is amazing
Never heard of a cattle liner referred to as a potload before. Immediately I thought of pot roast and stewing beef. Hopefully that little guy finds his strength and pulls through whatever is wrong with him. You should name him Forrest! Run Forrest Run.
Those trailers hauling cattle are commonly called “cow pots”.
We called that same style of trailer a pot also. If it was a single deck, we called that one a straight.
But pot roast sounds really good now that you bring that up!!!
@@wayner806 Thanks any idea where that name comes from?
I think we’ve always referred to him as that and I’m from a different part of the country. But probably just a little bit older than you at 60+
@@asquithmainlines699 Google search shows that pots are double decked but I couldn’t find how the name came about. When we had a pot show up, I felt we were big time but most of the time we had an older gentleman that lived locally with a straight that hauled for us. Key memory of him-he had two silver dollars that he carried for years that he always showed us and they had rubbed against each other until they weren’t much bigger than quarters. As a kid I was fascinated to see those every time we saw him.
Love watching ur channel. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing always interesting 😊
Great job keep up the good work guys love watching y'all
Cole, get you one of the New Zealand made calf bottles. They are the best thing ever made. We bottle around 50 a year and they have made a huge difference for calves and easier for for us too.
Lovely to see your interaction with that calf.
Looks like you get good moving cattle around like a slide puzzle. Hopefully your youngster calf gets strong.
Not quite like a milk check every two weeks in the old days, but definitely are going to be a big check😂😂👍. Listen to Mr. Corbett Walls about two or three times a week awfully nice information straightforward. Thanks man.
Love your videos guys. Also Cole, a win is a win!
Just before your lightning fast explanation, we see you hop over and run!
Northeast Missouri 50 acres of corn in my renter put in this afternoon different farm.
Perfect 2 pounds of asparagus. Spring is early this year again
Thanks and GOD BLESS 😀
Good to hear the feeder prices came back up since the last video. Glad it was a good payday.
hope the calf gets better cows look good but hope you get some more moistur or rain but have a good day you guys
When I first read the title of the video I thought it said two potheads..lolol
So did I. Lol
Me too 😂
I'd watch that video hahaha
I dreamt a calf was named after me. Maybe that's close enough. You certainly have many that deserve it better. I'd still be so excited and proud. Please. So great seeing them coming and going. That's just so awesome.
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌞 Farms!!!
We. had a calf like that this year. Just no energy at all. (had some last year also). Tried colostrom, getting it up, things all farmers try. Called vet. No one around. Finally was going to put in warmer for the night. Vet called, took it to vet, he loaded it up with lots of stuff. Said it was low on selenium.( Last years calf also). took it home and put in warmer for the night. Next day he was 100% better. He is a big calf so legs are curved but he's up and around and living. Gonna put out selenium blocks before they calve from now on. It takes about 3 months to get into system of cows so they both benifit.
Add sweet cream to milk, I have tried everything, a shot of bourbon, butter milk, etc. Old buttermilk does help. Maple syrup.. get sugar in the blood ..
We used to add an egg or two for some extra protein.
Thank you for sharing hope the little guy makes it
Congratulations on your first place, our school had track meets like that too.
Lite and fast I am slow and old I send the nephew on things like that. Looks like Elly is a nurse dog.
Good luck with the calf, great video. Thanks!
Always a good video and nice looking animals.
Enjoyed.
Your track story was sooo stinking funny! Didn’t expect that!
I posted a comment about the bull calf that was not doing well and within 30 seconds of posting, you said your dad had an appointment with the vet. Please let us know what was wrong with him and his prognosis .
He’s what we call here in Ireland a big ‘dopey’ calf.. hopefully comes good
Cole you ARE a winner!
Broadcast alfalfa and grass into that rye and that pasture will get nice and thick and keep those cows fed. We do that in our pasture and it grows in nice and thick.
Good job guys
awsome video cole Thumbs up and shared Hope that calf is ok
Brian, we've always had a nurse cow, actually the most coveted cow on the farm by neighboring cattle guys. Do you also use nurse cows as well?
Hey Cole and Bryan, the next time you have a healthy newborn that isnt as lively as it should be, the madigan squeeze is worth a shot. Ive never personally done it but ive heard of it saving a lot of headache with newborns
I would like you to visit 10th generation dairyman when he gets the new robot feeder going.
I would also like Brian to pick “I keep forgettin” as the song of the day. Everyone loves some Michael MacDonald
Brian should have gotten a reaaallllly great price for his reaallllly great lookin' calves!
Pay day! Congratulations.
Hi I use durvet durazyme with weak calves makes them crazy for milk and gives em energy
