  • The Zierer Star Shape is a giant thrill ride. The ride first debuted in 2003 at the German Oktoberfest with showman Kaiser. Named for the shape of the arrangement of the riders' seats, the star shape was made to be a highlight ride at any fairground or park.

the very first starshape (High Energy) has recently made its redebut on the Spanish fair circuit with the new modifications. the new owner paid for the modifications which the original owners didn’t want to (costs about €500,000). also sadly Air doesn’t go to hyde park anymore, the owners have their own mini christmas funfair in Birmingham city centre

Have ridden Mechanica many times and people who have not ridden a star shape might be surprised to know that it is very hit and miss. Sometimes you'll get a great ride with several inversions but often you're just going up and down and it's relatively forceless. In a park like Liseberg it works because it's situated towards the back of the park and is not a main attraction.

I've been to all the major theme parks in the UK and still haven't seen one of these, haha.
It does look pretty terrifying though.

I got to ride the one at Marine land.
It’s a shame that we don’t get quality flat rides like this in the US. Instead, we get cheap Zamperla junk.
This is one of my favorite flat rides. The best part of the ride is when you get a cycle where you’re facing straight down from the top.
I like that the ride doesn’t feel like it’s trying to throw you out of it like a giant frisbee, etc.
The part where it pauses in the middle at full height and makes a couple rotations is also a great part of the ride
The only part that could be approved is that the seats are too whippy when they flip. You have to hold your head back against the restraint or you’re going to get your head banged up. It’s the same issue with a top scan. I wish they would dampen the movement on the gondolas so they didn’t whip so much and flipped smoother

so many things you could put in the video. High energy by kaiser got sold to spain. Including new modifications. The backwall (Rückwand) from high energy got sold/given to the showmen ''Ottens'' With the ride ''chaos pendel'' by funtime.

I think the Mondial Avalanche might see more sales in North America, especially since the first one went to Canada's Wonderland (the unofficial flat ride capital of the world in my eyes)

Bling wasn’t a transportable Star Shape only 2 of these existed Both air and high energy which now resides in Spain and has under gone modifications such as the removal of one paybox (Kassa) travelling models had to under go modifications due to the excessive weight was starting to crack due to the forces and excessive weight hence the transportable ones have brakes and 4 seats instead of 5 the other star shapes (park models) had brakes fitted to cut down on the impact on the main hub to limit any chance of cracking

Kaiser is the reason why these exist. It was their idea and they asked Zierer if it was possible to create. Quite a bit of money later the rest is history

I've ridden the one at Liseberg. It' s really nice, both to ride and to look at; I love watching "fairground'ish" rides like these at night! 😊 These rides bring some nostalgia too, I think, as rides like these were common once; rides that were equaly common in theme parks and fairgrounds (like the HUSS Enterprise).

Rode Bling many many times over the years it was at Blackpool. It was fun but as its time in the park got longer you could tell it wasnt happy in the weather it was exposed too. Having more breakdowns later into the season that would keep it down for weeks.

It probably wasn’t helped that the metal wasn’t galvanised, where was its replacement. Sky Force was galvanised steel, and it seems to be a lot more reliable, I’ve really seen it down.

Just one update about the KMGXXL ride the beast ride has been sold to a UK Showman. It’s no longer in Australia. It’s now travelling UK it’s gonna be in a park soon. It’s gonna be at Barry Island pleasure park so Australia does not have a KMGXL any more. unfortunately that was just a little bit of more update. Sorry that I put into this video, but I had to let you know😢

Id imagine the reason star voyager has less gondolas is due to the issues other star shapes been too heavy and putting too much stress on the ride causing it to basically tare itself apart abie danters air had to have over 80% of the ride rebuilt and had inner seat on the gondolas removed as well as breaks added to the gondolas it also doesnt run as fast as it used to anymore

It definitely would be a great idea for season 2. The episodes were premade because CC had a busy summer season ahead and we'd have stuff to watch each week. I'm sure they'll be taking ideas though by the time they're back to the regular schedule.

The Starshape fascinates me... but not in a good way. Recent developments with exisiting rides of this type show that no thrill ride is save from being nerfed to hell. :(
Essentially, Zierer retrofitted most Starshapes with breakfins which make the ride a lot less thrilling. Also, Air and High Energy (both travelling models) were modified to have their capacity reduced, for some reason...

    • @themeparkreel
      @themeparkreel Місяць тому

they had to add brakes and remove seats because the rides were falling apart. they had to have major modifications cause significant cracking was found. they removed seats and added the brakes to help reduce stress on the structure

I have ride Mechanica at Liseberg many times. But Liseberg have put some magnetic breakes on the free spinning seats cause many complained it was to intense. Me personlly liked it more before they added the brakes. Now you wont be upside down. In my eyes Liseberg destroyed it. But i still like it.
