Chamonix to Le Brévent via Bellachat - Chamonix Hiking & Trail Running

This is a beautiful route that takes you high above Chamonix and deep into the Aiguille Rouges natural reserve. The main highlights include the Refuge de Bellachat, Lac du Brévent, the Brévent summit and the Col du Brévent. You can easily make this a lot easier and shorter by using the Planpraz Gondola and/or the Brevent Cable Car. If you want to reduce the amount of vertical gain then you could take the Gondola to Planpraz and do the the rest of the route in reverse. That will take off 1000 vertical meters.

I went up to col du brevent but bailed out at the ladders not long after… does this route avoid them? I hate myself for bailing out but didn’t feel confident…

This route has no ladders as far as I can remember. Maybe a hand hold or foot hold here and there but nothing large or scary that I can remember. Were you taking the VK route below the Planpraz gondola?
