No fake bullshit there.. Just real music, Long live the 80's!!!!!!!!!
Not like today...
2024 I still love this song ❤
I'm 44. I heard this song on the radio back in the day. I don't need likes to justify this.
Agreed! I am 69 now in 2024.❤
The 1980s were just a flat out 10 out of 10 when it came to music. As a 47 year old guy who got live through this amazing decade I come to appreciate it even more when considering the state of things in America in 2021. Blessed to have been an 80s child !
I agree with you 100%!! Its a damn shame that the American people continue voting themselves into the Communist ideology! An outsider comes along, wants to reverse course and the idiot's in Our Nation wanted to reinstall the Communist Regime! Lifelong politician's on both sides are guilty of TREASON!
I agree with you that the 80s felt really nice, a more wholesome time. I'm a couple of years younger than you although not American, but we had similar experiences in the west.
The problem is that we were just hiding the horrors of the world, choosing to live with blindfolds. For example, this Live Aid concent, and all the other Live Aids since then, yet the situation in many African countries is exactly the same as they were in the 80s. You'd think all that money sent to them by the people attending these concerts should have made at least some difference, then you realist how corrupt the west is/was and how more corrupt African leaders were/are.
We were children back then so I don't blame us for choosing to be oblivious about what happens in the real world, but our parents tried to shield us from it and in many cases were blissfully ignorant themselves.
I bet the children in India, Burundi, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Loas, Ecuador, or China had few memories as children in the 80s. That's more than a billion kids now adults with few good memories to reminisce about, unlike you and I who had the privilege.
I'm 55 andI got through it with 70's music.
I hear you, I was 10 watching this in England, now living in Sydney Australia. The state of the world is an understatement.
You’re so blessed! I wished I lived through the decade. I was born too late haha 😆
When they truly sang, no autotune, just pure talent
I always liked Paul Young. I forgot he performed at Live Aid. What a great performance.
And I loved when he duetted with George. Charity event. Awesome 🤩 ❤
That bassline had its own vocal melody... Pino Palladino is a genius bassist... and those bv's!!! Fantastic performance!!!
Fantástico genial y muy agradable
Pino Palladino is the most melodic fretless bassist in the universe, and any performance that has Mr.Palladino on bass is ALWAYS going to be outstanding. ⚓️🐸💙🧜♀️
Pino the GOAT
One of my top 2 bassists along with Mick Karn
Daryl Hall has an interview where he talks about what Paul did with this Hall and Oates song. Specifically mentions Palladino and the 'edge' he gave this song.
I love Paul's energy on stage.
This performance helped it become a no.1 hit in the US.
Good times when we dreamed of saving the world through music ...
Susan B What country are you referring to?
@@MsAppassionata Ethiopia, probably.
@@susanb2015 You know how when you are burning Leaves and Leftovers (excess Food nobody wants), how the Wind always blows the Smoke, in your Face, even if there is no Breeze, anywhere, else. Well, the same thing happened to Russia's Military. Every time they tried to Bomb an Ethiopian, the Skinny sumbitch would catch a Breeze and float, away, hence "Every Time You Float, Away, You Dodge a Bombing Raid or Two." Neat! Do not forget to remind your Kids and/or any Stray Kids, to not eat any Leftovers and to Burn them unwanted Leftovers, else you (the Kids) are Grounded!
Really. Nowadays music is used to manipulate people in the world to make they thinks that things is always good anyway...
@@susanb2015 you're an asshole.
What a time to be alive.
I wish anyone on this planet who hasn't experienced the 80's to go through the same wave of creativity, solidarity and friendship.
The 80's sucked for me except for the music.
There was also a lot of crap. Flock of seagulls?
Hell yeah....1980 come back and stay for good this time............👍👍
Absolutely a great time wish everyone could have experienced it. God bless you all
Music like this will always be a treasure to those of us who grew up in the 80s ❤❤❤🙂

When he said ‘ I can’t stand it, I don’t want it’. Wow, simply magical…
I was 24 years old in 1985 when live aid was staged. I watched every minute of it from Status Quo opening it with 'Rockin' All Over The World'. A remarkable day in which two performances really stood out for me. It wasn't an opinion formed later with repeated viewing. i thought it immediately afterwards, Queen and Paul Young. I hadn't realised Paul Young was such a powerful vocalist till I saw this on the day. This was an especially good performance of this song.
Paul Young's backing vocals are amazing!!
The guy couldnt fake it if he wanted to. Truly one of the greats. And I was privileged to see him live in Melbourne
Not 1 single person in this entire crowd is holding up a cell phone or checking their Twitter page. Everybody was living in the moment and not trying to tell ppl they didn't know what they had for lunch that day, or what they were doing every minute. These were the greatest times to be a kid.
you are absolutely right, bro!!! No further questions, your honor!
Because they were not invented yet DUH!

I believe that the amazing, extraordinary Singer/Songwriter Daryl Hall had no idea about what was he creating, when wrote this magnificent song.
I don’t think he could give it to someone else, but to Paul Young…,
What a beautiful, gorgeous man, and his soul voice! So passionate and one ☝🏻 one of the greatest interpreters ..
HUTS OFF !! Sir Paul Young
I Love you, endlessly ❤️ heart ❤️

My sister used to have the hots for paul young back in those days. But Its Still A Great Song To Hear Again In 2024.
it's crazy how these songs will just keep crossing over from generation to generation 😍
Boa Tarde.?
Great songs and great performances never really die.

The Eighties just lives on forever and EVER~~~~~~~
Evergreen
I thank God for letting me enjoy this masterpiece that will last forever. I miss the music from the 80's.
You have to thank the uploader from this video!
How i miss Paul Young's voice , so talented ....love the 80's.
Yes sadly he doesn't have the same power in his voice as he did here. Saw him (and met the man) in 2017) He sings in a lower softer tone now.
No need to miss it. He is still performing eith his ban Los Pacaminos.
This great artist doesn't get the credit he deserves. Just follow him through this entire performance and witness brilliance!💖🕊
Let us not forget the dude with the sitar guitar.
What do you mean. He has all the credit he deserves. He is still performing today with the band he formed over 25 years ago. Los Pacaminos, they are great live.
@@angelaregan475 Yet how many actually know this? He had his time back in the 80s, yet basically faded away from being as well known as he was. Unless one has followed his career, you wouldn't be aware that his career has kept on going. In my comment, I was referring to getting the credit he deserved back then in the 80s. He somehow never received the adulation that other acts did.
The bass is amazing! 🎸🎶👌
Rex Tennison pino palladino🎸
That fretless sound is magic.
Here's Mr. Hernán Rodríguez playing the Bass cover of this song. 👍🏻

Pino Palladino's lines really hits you
I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS PERFORMANCE. I remember watching this on TV. My late father and I both loved this song. I think of him every time I hear it. ❤
So sweet. I miss the 80s and family life back then.
Como quisiera haber estado alli !!!!!!!!El mejor recital de todos los tiempos, con los mejores artistas de todos los tiempos!!!! Yo tenia 13 años y todavia me emociona ver estas imagenes.
2022 and I listen to this everyday. One of the most beautiful songs ever made. ❤️
One of of the most beautiful live vocal performances of a beautiful song. Lead, back up and musicians all working together perfectly. I love this song so much ❤

One of my favorites from the 80s. What a great singer. And he was adorable.
Missing the 80's classic decade for beautiful music.
3:01 Paul was feeling it! Damn epic performance 🤩🤩 didn’t know how good he sounded live wow
it was planned, but yeah still cool. check out Big Country.....another 80s great band
Saw him live in November 2017 and sadly doesn't have that vocal strength which I suspect from overworking it back in the 80's. Still my idol though..
yes!! even the people offstage were digging it
I saw him live in 1987. In Melbourne.
@@siobhanmurphy4912 if you pay attention, his vocal gets tough a lot… he didn’t cared very well about his voice 😢
Does anybody has a time machine..? I just want to go back to the 80's era and never come back..

PAUL YOUNG your is the best of the best. And, the band is great. I Love this song. Stay safe.
This song hits different whenever you hear it again after a few years.
A wonderfully talented list of preformers! This event is a highlight of the awesome music of the 1980's.
One of the very best live performances ever ☝️👍🙏
The bass line in this song is so brilliant
after the pandemic is over we need another live aid
Yes, but we don't have talented artists anymore, now we got bunch of idiots with auto tune and same shitty music.
It would be hilarious though listen to these talentless tossers actually trying to sing live without lypsyching cringey worthy but funny
Another live aid with the same song list pls

Nope.
Great performance! 💕 Love the background singers, too.
Handhelded cameras with cable carrier. Cables laying around everywhere on stage. 😅 Hard to imagine today..

🤝 so true your comment!
What a fantastic singer
I really love this 2 songs of him wish he do concert again.💕
M Ts Paul young has recently sang in a Venue in Denmark in 2018 . The sound of the recording on UA-cam is not too good and you can’t hear his voice well.
M Ts He sang another one with Alison Moyet also. Nice duet too.
@Jack Young Nice man. He is surely underrated.
@Jack Young You're a very Blessed to have such a Talented Great Uncle! If, you ever talk to him. Please, tell him (Paul) that he, got me through My Teenage years & being Bullied at School! I am a Huge Fan of his in America!

Just 72.000 people ish singing with him… there’s the answer. No Bullshit 🤷♂️
When artists could do whatever they wanted with their voices and there were actual musicians on stage. We had it all, just we didn't know at that time.
Bob Geldof, cheers that lad

I'm here for the memories of the 70s and the awesome 80s music today sucks really bad
What a performance I wasn't even born then but the messages revitalises with my life

I just heard Daryl Hall singing this last night. I thought Paul Young owned this song. Who wrote it?
What a great performance! Was worried the crowd weren’t going to join in initially despite Paul’s pleas! He’s got great voice control and soul but you can almost hear the nodules forming!
