The new Big East is okay. I'd consider them one of the Power Seven in basketball. (The others are the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and American.) However, I miss the old Big East.
@@theohiotexan there's basically 5 power conferences, idc if they changed it to 7 and i haven't heard about it. American& the "Big East" aren't Power Conferences. Doesn't mean neither have big time teams(Villanova, sometimes Cincy, sometimes SMU , used to be UCONN, etc). But not consistently. Most years Duke, UNC, Louisville, Cuse, Virginia, NC State. FSU, are gonna be sweet 16 contenders. Now honestly, I'd take Both conferences over the SEC most years!! #FootballConference
I remember watching this game in my living room thinking it would go on all night. It was games like this that made the big east tournament special. Teams like Georgetown, Syracuse, Connecticut, Pitt, St Johns, Villanova, Providence, Seton Hall, and even West Virginia made this tournament special and gave us moments we will never forget. RIP Big East you'll never be forgotten
IF you watched Johnny Flynn's 2 years at Syracuse you'd see why. He would have been a legit pro, but he unfortuntely had a hip injury he hid while at Cuse and it caught up to him after his rookie year.
My grandmother patty and I watched every single Uconn tourney game from the time I was 4 yrs old till the day she died (1998-2016). Although Uconn received the "L" in the box score, and i remember us being so shocked and upset we that we lost, I believe it was one of the greatest nights of my life. We both stayed up till 3am despite having to wake up early. imagine a 14 yr old boy and his little ol 54 yr old grandma both born and raised in the same city in CT, watching a quadra OT game in the living room with shrimp, ginger ale, chips, and ice cream for the entire night lol! I freaked out whenever we were down with 2mins or less in the game and i'd start blaming our big men( every year except 2002-2006). And EVERYTIME she would tell me "relax relax Aaron, theres so much time left, so much can happen in 2minutes. so much can happen in 40 seconds. so much can happen in 20 seconds, etc.) She was usually right lol. This game has a very special place in my heart bc of the emotional rollercoaster my grandma and I experienced in our living room the whole night. Her jumping out of her chair at 54 yrs old screaming and shouting " OOOOOUUU OOOOOUUU THATS RIGHT BABY THATS RIGHT" and me shouting " LETS GOOOO U-C-O-N-N UCONN UCONN UCONN LETS GOO". Then going completely silent the next moment cuse hit a big shot. Been impossible to watch the huskies without crying, or any old school Big East team from the 2000's play, since she passed in 2016. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been raised by such an incredible person; and the huskies will always be a my relic of remembrance of our bond and love. Go Uconn! One day soon, we will again SHOCK THE WORLD BABY!

I remember being a sophomore in high school watching this game. My mom and I are each huge Duke fans and follow the ACC closer than any other conference, but when we came across this game, we just watched to see what would happen...little did we know that we'd see the absolute classic that transpired. Since she taught at the same high school I was going to, we each typically had to get up pretty early to get ready, but being tired the next morning was so worth watching all 70 minutes of this game
I think it's safe to say college basketball in general, has NOT been same since. You take a group of young adults mostly from the Northeast and put them on a team and play them against other Northeast players you have everyone's attention
I missed the first half for some reason, but I watched every minute of the second half and all six overtimes. I was thinking about going to bed after the second OT, but I am so glad I didn't. I would have missed the best Big East game of all time.
Michael Salisbury me too dude I had Classes late that day and I got home and missed the 1st half and the 2nd half and 6 OTS were special I miss this Big East Confrence memories
For those who don't know, Syracuse would beat West Virginia in OT the following night to advance to the finals. They would play Louisville close for a half in the finals, before the Cardinals pulled away for the win.
Yep I remember vividly clutching my hands to my head when I saw they were going to OT that game too. Pretty sure Devendorf hit a half court buzzer beater going into halftime on that game too. Cuse, and just college ball in general, cant be matched these days.
This was by far my favorite College Basketball season. Had this all time great game which i still remember where I was watching it followed by the game that is tied with this one as my favorite basketball game of all time where Siena beat Ohio State in double overtime in the tournament.
2009 the year of classic basketball OTs. About 1.5 months later the Bulls and Celtics played that series where practically every game went to OT and came down to the last play and had that 3OT Game 6 in Chicago.

seeing this is a nice flashback considering that they're both playing today in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament!! i miss everything this rivalry used to be
Me & my brother got into quite the discussion today about whether this game against UConn or yesterday's game against Duke was the best basketball game we'd ever seen. The debate still rages. I sure hope you can upload the CUSE vs DUKE game! That was epic.

I went to sleep after the third overtime, I think. I was in 7th grade and had a regional science fair to attend, but I hate that I missed the rest lol.
It might just be me, but it always seemed like the ball would just clank off the rim at Madison Square Garden.
