@@frankierichetti8332 it was a BIG EAST tournament game, thats harder than most NCAA tournament games, Pitt was 1 of best teams in country in 2011. Big East was hands down the best conference, UConn went 9-9 in the big east that year!! a lot of teams in the Big east were ranked in the top 25 all year. The Big East tournament was , in my opinion, a harder tournament than the NCAA. Go back and look at the Big East from 2011 and then you'll see.
Forget about UCONN's national championships, the Maui Invitational titles. They are footnotes to these Big East battles. Pitt, Syracuse, Georgetown, 'Nova, Providence, UCONN - these teams came to play. Look at the focus of the two teams in this game. The unforgiving devotion to every play. This isn't Duke wondering what the hell hit them in '99. This isn't Georgia Tech blown away by a Nor'easter. This is battle. Last man standing. Big East, RIP. Killed by the money-changers in the temple. But the memories. Ohhh, the memories.
No doubt! Well said and I miss the big east so much! No matter how good Kentucky, Duke or Kansas etc. are, the toughness and city flava of the big east teams were supreme!
That's right. It's tradition and continuity and geographic affinity that are so important to fans. Loyalty to teams, and a sense of connection to a conference, and emotional attachment to college basketball itself have all been seriously damaged by the corrupting force of big money. I love the state of Connecticut and UCONN, but I doubt I'll ever again follow the men's basketball team throughout their season. I'll tune in once March Madness starts, when they get into the tournament, but that's it. The money-changers have overrun the temple of college basketball.
Those Pitt teams in the 2000's, man. They would beat UCONN, Syracuse, Georgetown, and the other Big East powers during the regular season through sheer grit; but then lose heart breakers like this in the Big East and NCAA Tourneys, where NBA talent and 4/5 star players sometimes take over. Looking back, those Pitt teams simply overachieved given their talent. *Not a single Pitt player was drafted in the 1st round of the NBA draft from 2000 - 2012* . UCONN had 11 players drafted in the 1st round over that same time period. I'm still proud of what they were able to accomplish tho.
I'm happy to see Connecticut return to the Big East Conference since they never should have left in the first place. The football program was never going anywhere, there money was the basketball program. Now, all they need is Syracuse to come out of their senses and return home to the Big East.
opps i messed up on my comments!!!!!😍🖼️ love watching college basketball now on the internet all the years i couldnt see alot of NCAA basketball games thanks too youpeople who have old games film thank god for channels like your50000 god dam dude so fricken cool
Yeah I don't like the new big east I always think of the old big east with UCONN, Syracuse, Pitt, Cincy, USF, West Virginia, Louisville and Rutgers when I think of the big east
the more I think about I think napier is better then walker. walker was basically only good going down the lane. napier can pull up and hit those deep threes and was a better jump shooter
B.S, Kemba is a much more complete PG than Napier. He's a much better defender than Napier. Kemba is way better in the clutch than Napier. There's a reason why Kemba was 5th in the country in PPG that year.
Best game winner of all time
Lmao it wasn’t even a NCAA tourney game

Well said, the Big East was such a dominant conference when it was like this, such a shame that money had to ruin a beautiful thing.
No doubt! Well said and I miss the big east so much! No matter how good Kentucky, Duke or Kansas etc. are, the toughness and city flava of the big east teams were supreme!
what's crazy is the Big East was created to be a basketball conference, but it was torn apart because of football

I'm a Pitt fan, I miss the old big east. I miss the battles night in and night out playing UCONN, Nova, Georgetown, Marquette etc...
every time I see that final play I have to replay it at least 10 times

Since Boeheim left SU, they're going to be in the basketball wilderness for a long time
Pitt was so good this year, unbelievable win...i remember watching this during study hall back in highschool, what an incredible run.
Welcome home Kemba, New York City has been waiting for you.
as soon as McGee stayed on that switch, you had a feeling that something was going to happen.
01:08:13 "That guy, what a future Shabazz Napier has in a UConn jersey".
Pretty good call, Doris...two national titles isn't a bad college haul!

Jay Man plus kemba has the athleticism that Napier doesn't have
Kemba is the better player. But Bazz is the greatest Husky ever.
+cpb92387 kemba was so much better and driving to get fouled and make late free throws to seal games
