    Hey guys! I think everyone is getting the wrong idea about this video for some reason! Sorry I didn’t make this more clear but I love living here. My entire channel is practically dedicated to showing why it is great to live here! I don’t have any desire to move I was just trying to share some of the hard things to just make people aware and to be honest and real! Thanks for understanding! Xo

      It's not your fault, it's the mindset of today's world. You can't say anything bad about anything anymore or people will threaten your life and the life of your children. How the fk are things supposed to get better anywhere if we keep killing or threatening people into silence anytime they say something they don't like.
      Don't apologize to these a***holes. And please accept my apologizes for no one being able to listen to anyone anymore and always telling them to can it. So depressing that you are being harassed like this.

    That car issue is incredibly dangerous. A trucker up in Siberia got stranded in a particularly cold winter when his truck broke down in the middle of nowhere and he lost both hands and feet to frostbite.

      It turns out it may not actually be what was going on...that's just what the tow truck driver told me he thought it was. When we took it to the mechanic he fixed it and I forget what it turned out to be but it's good now! :-) Thanks for your concern!

    Its a blast sometimes, I live north but not quite this far. Very limited places to buy anything and yes amazon is great. Food prices suck and the freshness of fruit is abysmal. Luckily for us our vehicles are reliable; otherwise its an hour tow to the nearest shop. Love the northern lights and the clarity of the sky, freshness of the air. Sometimes the lack of people :P

    You can buy a battery booster, which is the size of a VCR tape, very light very easy to use to boost your car, your husband can show you in about 30 seconds how do use it to boost your car. My 20-year-old autistic daughter has a 1999 Honda CRV and I taught her how to use it to booster her vehicle, and she figured out how to use it and 20 seconds.

      I lived in Canada for 35 years, I moved to Missouri for the warmer weather, only two weeks of snow a year. It is a much more pleasant existence. I would suggest that your next car be a Toyota, they are more expensive at first, but It will save you a lot down the road down the road on repairs.

    You need to plug your car in . The block heater the battery heater and the oil pan heater. Then you should carry supplies in your car for the cold . A tent heater will work provided you leave the window down a crack. You should also learn to make the clothing just order the fabric and a pattern . I grew up with hand me downs and home made stuff.

    • @LifeinYellowknife
      @LifeinYellowknife  Рік тому

      You can’t really live here and drive and not plug your car in or have a block heater. We have had both yes and still had issues. I obviously have an emergency kit in my car. There is no reason to make my own clothes. Thanks for your comment but I’m assuming you haven’t watched many of my other videos to make this comment. It’s pretty odd to think I’d be that unprepared living in the north.

    Gymnastics will fill up more than ball/puck based sports. There is only so much capacity in the gym, and trainers can only handle so much kids at once. However with sports like hockey/soccer/lacrosse you want as many players as possible in your league to form enough teams. With big enough populations of players they can even separate the players by skill levels into separate leagues.

    • @LifeinYellowknife
      @LifeinYellowknife  3 роки тому

      My daughter really wanted to do hockey/skating but the practices were Sundays and also they wouldn't let parents in or to watch. I was supposed to drop her off without her having ever been there and I knew she had no idea how to do any of the equipment herself etc etc. For a five year old that's a bit much in my opinion. But good to know about those other sports not filling up as quickly! We def hope to get them in soccer this year- good to know there is a better chance than I thought!!

I would like to use the sim to stay in touch with fellow traveler in my group (call/text/data) and use my mobile phone to navigate (google maps) and find restaurants (yelp) on my phone. In Florida so I understand 100%, but you might wanna visit a few northern states here first. Just visiting family in the northern midwest is harder than when I lived there as a kid because the changes in global climate patterns is making the north colder while making our weather in the south hotter and more miserable. People talk about how great the south is until they live in our humidity for a few years straight. :)

    I've always been fascinated by the cities/towns up north, as someone who lives in Downtown Montreal its quite the difference! I had a few questions..
    Is the majority population comprised of Native Canadians up there?
    How developed are the cities/towns? Are there functioning roads, 24/7 electricity and water, etc?
    What is downtown like? You see many office buildings/high-rises?
    What is the social culture like up there? Do people have a tendency to be more quiet and keep to themselves, or is it rather lively (comparing to nightlife in cities like Toronto or Ottawa)
    How cold does it get during the winter?
    Is the terrain mainly forests like it is down south or is it more plains/grasslands?
    Does anyone live on those small islands at the northernmost parts of the Northwest Territories?
    Thanks in advance! Hope the winter is going fine up there.. Its been -41 here so I cant comprehend what you guys have.

You can use that to search my videos and find what you are looking for. There isn’t much that I haven’t covered about living here lol!
      As for the rental market, I’d be worried about moving here right now for sure. It’s slim. We got really lucky but I know that people have lots of trouble finding places that they want. I would personally avoid downtown and Lanky Court but really it seems to be kind of a town where things are mixed. My street for example is great on one end and not great on the other. We just had someone on the other end shot at a house party. Anyway, hope you find what you are looking for! My husband is a nurse too at the hospital so maybe we will run into you someday! :-)
