    I love how the screen printing took 6 minutes to cover all the steps & the transfers took 60 seconds. Lol. That is precisely why I deal exclusively with transfers & have no interest in SP, BUT like the man said, it is definitely an art & has its place! I just run a very lean operation & specialize in smaller orders with lots of variety, so screen printing is just not feasible for me.

    All good points, and thank you for not gate keeping. A few months ago in planning to start and art/t-shirt business, I thought screen printing was the only option - but not having the space I started studying linoleum block printing (fun but very time consuming creating each design). Finally, looking for ways to cure the ink I stumbled across heat press nation and into the wide world of pressing and transfers.
    For now, just starting out it's easier printing transfers using the siser easycolor dtv - and the epson 8550 gives surprisingly good results for being a home printer. As I learn more and my volume increases, there are plans to try supacolor and different types of transfers and processes. While it's a lot of work on top of a 9 to 5, it's also fun creating, learning, and growing.

    I would say when it comes down to the 2 verses each other I would say screen printing is superior because once you try to create a design using CMYK which is what a heat transfer uses your artwork will look totally different and you will not be able to get the exact color that you really desire like you can with screen printing

    • @BigBrandoh

      not all transfers are cmyk. lots of screen printed transfers use spot color printing.

    Direct screenpring is way better than making a screenprint transfer. They have different feel and direct last longer . You can't do waterbase transfers or discharge screenprint transfers. Screenprint transfers after your press it cuz now it will feel like vinly cuz your pressing the ink and making it flat. Also after you press it the shirt don't breathe as good as direct. I make transfers and screenprint. Stahls just came out with a screenprint transfers on clear film which i question cuz i haven't found pet film for screenprint.and is only one color. Then they claim it offers detail that no other screenprint transfer can match. Which leads be to believe it's what tko offers abs is not real screenprint. It cost like $.65 or more I think but 1 color screenprint tranferss are .15 cents. They go fool alot of people with that.

    • @BigBrandoh
      @BigBrandoh  22 дні тому +2

      how does it breathe better if both methods are ink covering the shirt? i showed this test on a live stream before of me shooting air thru a shirt that was screen printed and a shirt that had a transfer (same design, same size, same blank shirt) with a candle on the other side. both shirts did not let any air pass thru to blow out the candle. i did plastisol ink on both and water based inks on both.

    I have no skin in this game cuz I’ll never use screen printing, I’m way too lazy for that. So instead I’ll ask a random question, are there alternative blades to the cameo? I go through blades like crazy on the cricut using thicker cardstock. Thinking of switching but wanted to see if you had experience with dupe blades. Thanks!

      ive had my cameo for years now. i cut vinyl almost every day and i havent had to change the blade yet. but i also dont cut cardstock or any other materials. i havent tried any dupe blades. my guess is it would be the same as the branded blades. but thats just my guess. wouldnt hurt to buy some dupes for the card stocks since you go thru so many.

    I tried screen printing and I hated it due to the learning curve. I just got a heat press so I'll definitely see wassup but the learning curve doesn't seem as crafty as silkscreening. My opinion though.
