Thanks for this short video of the bell. My family is originally from Nottingham. I myself was born in Germany. But it is nice to see something from the family home. Thank you. The Bell is Amazing.
A nice Gillett and Johnston tenor. When it comes to heavy bells Taylor's and Gilletts we're the best. Whilst I love Whitechapel I think for tenors Taylor's and Gilletts we're so good. Such a shame that now got bombed or we would have a 53cwt Gillett 12 in London
@@RingerThomas yes good Tenors and St Mary's is a Carbon copy of Canterbury and Bow is nice. My dad hung St Mary's and also involved with Bow. He also hung Cornhill which he said was a bodge job. He had a saying Whitechapel for Trebles Taylors for Tenors. Taylor tenors have more depth than Whitechapel. St Andrews Cathedral Sydney is a 29 Cwt Taylor tenor and it has more depth and breadth than the 34 Cwt Whitechapel tenor at St Mary's. Foursome reason prewar Taylor tenors sound better than post war ones. When it comes to 8s under a ton Whitechapel really excel. Very bright, chirpy and are what I call a wedding peal. Listen to Bow those Trebles sing. Also the front 10 at St Mary's are delightful.
@@caroline6871 it's 1 third of the way between c & c sharp, sounding at 534 Hertz Gillett & Johnston bells are relatively shrill, so often sound higher pitched in the ear than their strike note
@@fredmills368 Well it's at 534.0Hz, which makes it C+. 532.0Hz is where the border-line from C+ to C#- starts, but C#- properly starts at 538.5Hz. If that helps in any way.

Whitechapel made good tenors. Like Canterbury St Martin in the Fields, Bow and Sydney.

@@Steven_Rowe Canterbury Cathedral’s Tenor It's a heavy SG clapper, so requires a lot of checking and tugging to get the thing to sound.
