Coach Ive known Toby since 1989. I owned a western nite club Tulsa City Limits.....He worked my club for 1800 weekly....we all use to laugh when I booked a national act and Toby would open and every time he would blow the big act off stage.... it got so bad that no big band would play if Toby's band Easy Money was booked.... we talked OU football recruiting every time he played.Toby knew players GPA. vertical 40 time. ... he was one of a kind... I was in Nashville the nite he signed his record deal .... he was true man of Faith and a hard worker.... So glad to have been his friend ... my best friend Jimbo Elrod was with Toby the nite Jimbo passed away..... GOD BLESS his family!!!!!
North Dakota Veteran here, we had the privilege of seeing him in concert 5 times but what he did for us troops and the USO will always make me love thIs man. ❤️. R I P
I love hearing the stories from those that knew Toby. Thank you for sharing. To those that are Veterans...I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service. I keep you all in my prayers❤️ I love what Toby did for our military. RIP TK
Been feeling the same way coach. We all are being cheated out of what this great poet still had to say. Sad day for Okies. Sad day for American Patriots. Boomer Sooner big dog, RIP
My son went to school with Bob’s sons and Toby’s son, and they all played little league sports together. Toby was a down to earth dude who fit right in with all of us in Norman. He was just another parent, like all the rest of us. I liked him, and I’m saddened by his death. He was a unique individual who kept his feet on the ground, despite his ability to soar due to his talent.
Thanks, Coach - I didn't know or ever meet Toby, but as a veteran, I miss him already - his contributions of time, talent, and willingness to give to the troops is (Bob Hope) legendary...I think the mark of a truly great man is that I've never head anyone ever say anything bad about Toby. He died way too early - RIP, Toby, and thank you.
Saint Paul MN here, owned just one Toby album when in 2017 got a call, extra ticket For Toby playing at the Mn State Fair. Ran over quit and watched the greatest show in my life and I have attended well over 100. That showed turned me into a massive fan and I've thought about it often as it was that outstanding, what a performer. Crowd was on its feet almost the whole show and the place was packed. Can't thank you enough for this show as it confirmed all I assumed about this man. I do feel robbed as I had no doubt I would be seeing in concert again and soon. Ted Nugent said it best the other night when he stated "I have a hole in my heart and so does half America". It's been four days since I received that early morning text and I can't quit watching Toby's video's and interviews since. What a huge loss and thankfully the Legend's music lives on . Unexplainable that no celebrities passing has ever effected me this hard and I am missing him more with each new great song I discover.
I first met Toby in 1994, when, prior to the County Fair, he did a signing at Borders. He was literally "Larger then Life!" He was a very kind, giving soul. A TRUE Gentle Man
Toby sang "MacARthur Park" about 6 or 7 years ago when Oklahoma song writer, Jimmie Webb was honored by Carnegie Hall. As the mother of a soldier, I will always remember and respect and admire how much Toby supported our military. What a wonderful man he waa!
We were his “Boys in Afghanistan and Baghdad City.” He had millions of friends in camouflage!!!! Can we please get him buried with military honors? #21GunSalute
amen I'm so glad I will see him again it makes me smile to know he is a child of God one in Christ praying for his family and close friends God bless his family
America lost a true patriot.I grew up a fan of this man’s and his music was a part of my life.Heartboken like we all are Rest in peace in heaven cowboy Love ya Toby
As an Oklahoma Veteran I can say he most appreciated and loved playing for us Troops deployed overseas and in turn was loved by the Military. His larger than life presence will be missed and can’t be replaced but it can still be felt in the moments of remembrance. Were Sooner Born & Sooner Bred and when we die were Sooner dead! Boomer to TK👏🏼☝🏼
"If I were Jesus" is definitely my favorite TK song! It took me one time to fully appreciate what the song and TK were saying to me. Thank you Coach for being a fan of that song and bringing it forward. I hope that many will look it up and be touched!
Coach Bob Stoops, I've had the Pleasure of meeting you, and You are Class. I definitely Want Drake Stoops to Go to an NFL team I like ( Seattle or Denver, or Buffalo). Also, Thank You for signing my OU Helmet in Gold in 2009 in Norman. I've made 33 Home Oklahoma Sooners Games since 2002 from Granbury and Weatherford, Tx. As for TOBY KEITH, their will Never be Another TK, Original and 1 of A Kind as it gets. I've ate at Toby Keiths I ❤ this Bar and Grill in Bricktown 40 or 50 times, Garlic Mashed Potatoes are Best on Earth 🌎.. Much love and Blessings to All of the Stoops and Keith Families.
The greatest tragedy in the world is when there’s good and evil, and good men do nothing. TOBY SET THE EXAMPLE WHAT it is like to be the common man, and understood the truth and freedom, because he embraced duty honor country
Sorry for your loss Bob! Faith, Care, Bravery, Humility, Humour! That Was Toby! A True American Patriot! A Great Loss to America! I hope that his Foundation receives even more Donations and Support through the Greater Awareness of the Contribution that this Giant made not only to Music and Military but to Mothers and Fathers through the Support of the "Toby Keith Foundation" Best Regards Gentlemen! Paul
I'm Thinking Captain America Shield at the Stadium! The American Hero! MIT Building! United States Warship! Your Stadium....The Third and Last Shield to Our Hero! Official yet Unofficial! Please think about this! Regards! Paul Whatever Toby's family thinks is right!
I LOVE t he song" If I Were Jesus " I have every CD Toby put out. I live far west end of OKC, I'm OK Born, (Altus OK!!) OK Tough, I'm also 62, so having Toby pass at this age, always liked it that for 6 months, he was the same age as I was. My dad's birthday was Jan 13, mine 31st...mom's is Feb 16th (I miss my mom & dad = Dad had, Alzheimer's and he died after breaking his hip. His Identical twin brother also has it and has no idea who I am. Dad didn't know me neither but I knew he was dad and that's all that mattered to me. Mom.. I really believe it was due to a broken heart. It's been a yr today that I lost her too. I Miss our Coach, Mr. Stoops or Coach Stoops, I'm a BIG OU Football fan :D
Brad & Coach, enjoy the show. I really appreciate your stories honoring TK. Makes me proud to be from Oklahoma as do you guys. Coach, if Drake ends up in Buffalo, we'll definitely make him feel at home. And, I love the new podcast with Issac and Joe C Jr. Let the good times roll!
Coach, I was thinking that the other day.... Toby's phone was probably always blowing up from everyone he knew and all the closet friends he had! Such a legacy, and such a loss for everyone.
My daughter and I had gone to the area of Toby's ranch, cause the pine needles were longer than the ones at the Lake (Overholser) and Brit was in the truck she see';s him and OMG MOM Stop using the Walmart sack !!!! He told her I shop at Walmart, doesn't bother me. He asked what I was doing with pine needles and I had a basket that I did and he liked that, to be creative. I told him I did medieval faires in Stroud. So that was a wonderful memory for me, even he got a laugh at Brit's expense when she sunk down in the seat after hollering it's Toby Keith, Mom. I said yeah, that's his ranch across the road, that nice spread. But I'll keep that memory forever.
I need to see the Stephen Colbert tribute. I wondered if he would do something because you could always tell they genuinely liked and respected each other even though they were on the complete opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Was Toby for sure on the opposite side? His dad was a Democrat and he was until a few years ago. I think he was more an independent. Regardless he was a good man.
i was trying to get this video out there for Toby and his family. Its from us to him. I dont want anything just people to know how much WE appricaited his constant support. 200+ shows incountry. man was a super star and alot of us leaned on his music. well.. how do i do this.. but share it..ua-cam.com/video/KMeOKsfkF24/v-deo.html
