    Lovely video, never loved the class 71 years ago, but now seeing one in green, is so nostalgic.
    Waterloo must be a nightmare for signalmen.

    First time ever I've seen a 33 in NSE livery, even living near the SW main line all 66 years of my life. I didn't know it existed.

    I was there ! The chap in the green/yellow/black ski jacket is me at 3:11 !! A gang of us had booked the Royal Wessex railtour run by Hertfordshire Railtours, and hauled by E5001 (71 001) + 73 132 on two 4TC sets. The date was 13th September 1992. 73 132 worked on her own to Bournemouth Depot (nee Bournemouth West), with the two 4TCs, and 33 114 worked back from the depot to the station. This was back in the day, when even the Southern Region with its affinity to all things 'karts' used to turn out Class 47s (and earlier Class 50s) and Class 33s. The '62' headcode denoted a train to Salisbury. 47 853 was probably working a Poole/Man Picc intercity. While the Class 205 DEMU 'Hampshire' unit, seen at Basingstoke was working a train to Reading. Whilst traincrews liked the Class 47/7s with their higher gearing to allow 100 mph running, I have mixed feelings about renaming them. 47 708 was my favourite Scottish example, formerly Waverley, now seen as Templecombe. Nice that Stratford stalwart 47 583 County of Hertfordshire makes an appearance. I fondly remember these Class 47 'counties' on the Norwich and Kings Lynn turns. Thanks for capturing these evocative images and sounds on video, for us old gits to enjoy.

    Great video, interesting to see the two ex Scotrail shove duffs, 47712 and 47708, are also both on my layout. 47708 is in Scotrail livery, and works a push pull train, wheras 47712 is in Parcels livery, as seen in this video, albeit without the NSE flashes. Indeed, as I write, 47712 is my most recent arrival on the layout!

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  Рік тому +2

      Eventually, before the West of England loco hauled services finished, all the ex Scotrail 47/7s ended up working on this line. Res were relutcant to release 704 as NSE had refused to overhaul it and Res stumped up the cash to do so. NSE got so short of power it went to BR Board level before it worked for a short while on this line.....

    I was on that rail tour to Bournemouth behind E5001. The return leg was stopped short at Clapham Junction as both Waterloo & Victoria were closed due to some demonstration march getting out of hand.

    This was a very interesting clip put together Soi with a Crompton in full NSE colours which to be honest i've not seen in a British railway book let alone on film. And the preserved Class 71 E5001 with 73132 and a pair of 4TC's being the highlights of it.

    Great video. One thing from it that is abundantly clear, is that the NWSE livery hasn’t stood the test of time. Applied to the class 33 and 50 units, it’s just hideous.

    Pretty great video though... Why did they be only one of freight train join the carriage toward the country and one freight train join the carriage backward to local the country? Why does that one freight join carriages through the services? Should be two of them on both sides, one of the front frieght train with carriages and one of the back freight with it. Must be running on time to leave the service. Otherwise may is delayed leave a few late, that's not looks good at all.
