God Lee Remick was SOOOOO lovely. She left this world way too early. I love these Sondheim concerts because it's so fascinating to see these actresses singing/performing these wonderful (and, as any Sondheim afficionado (sp?) knows, very difficult to sing) songs. Many of these actresses, whose film careers were essentially over or waning--Glynis Johns, Yvonne DeCarlo, Alexis Smith, to name a few, were given the wonderful opportunity to showcase talents no one ever knew they had!

This is quite a pleasant surprise! I had no idea she could sing so well! She's been a favorite actress of mine and am happy to see this clip. Thanks for posting.

I swear she stopped time in this number. Unique and underrated.

This woman had a talent that was surprising to many people. The key of this song was raised for her, such was her formidable vocal range. It's been rumoured that Sondheim and Lee Remick were very, very close friends, and I can believe that. If nothing else, Sondheim was, I'm sure delighted with her rendering of this terrific song.
    We love you, Lee!

Wonderful, what a singer ! This had talent oozing from every part of her. What a great shame that she died so young ! It has been said by some , because she smoked from an early age, who knows. All I know, from what read, that smoking has been reduced, I mean stopped by so many, or not started by others, but lung cancer is on the increase.

And this is a key higher than the original, right?

Always thought Lee was beautiful and a fine actress. She could speak volumes with her eyes alone. I had no idea she could sing too. Gone too soon.

So true, who knew it would be Sondheim who could bring out the best in women? He appreciated their enormous talents & possibilities.

Wonderful!!...Lee was a very special talent. This is the first time I've ever seen her in this genre...she's quite good...but of course with a Sondheim vehicle...all is well.

I mean who the hell knew that Lee Remick could sing? And not just sing, but deliver such a beautiful rendition of this number. I guess she was about 50 here. She about six years after this, much too early. Would have loved to have seen what roles she would've been doing had been around longer.

Heard this today on Elaine Paiges` Radio 2 show, so had to check it out...
Absolutely brilliant!!! As dannybex has already noted, I didn`t realise the lady could
sing so well. I personally wouldn`t know if this was a key higher... I have the musical ability of a soapdish :-(

Check out Lee's clips from DAMN YANKEES also on UA-cam. Also very good. Sure Gwen Verdon had it over her in the dance dept., but Lee sang better (imo), and was so SEXY as Lola she could have probably could have gotten a rise out of Troy Donahue.

bronxbearbud Troy Donahue wasn't gay. You are probably mistaking him for Tab Hunter. Donahue had major substance abuse issues which is why his career kinda faded not because he had a hankering for men.
