    Really a masterpiece for me. Jackson's team is really good especially with the MV design and everything that goes with it.

  • @Olcia27

    Not many people would get this reference but the first red shot with Jackson sitting in a chair ties in with the painting you can see on both of his sides in the corridor and at the end. It's "Stańczyk" by famous Polish painter Jan Matejko and it depicts jester being the only person concerned about the dark future of his country during a royal ball. So I agree with you about the person who is responsible about Jackson's mv doing a freaking great job. I never predicted that I would see this painting in a kpop video but it's strangely very fitting with Jackson's personality and his role in entertainment industry.

      Olcia27 Not just role in the industry, but also who he feels he is versus what people have assumed of him from what they see. Most people think he's a comedian and thats his shtick and that he's somewhat dumb, but recently he's been trying to change the image because it does not reflect completely who he is. Maybe he's a jester, but he just wants people to be happy and not see him in his own struggles. His music is an attempt for people to take him seriously, because there is more maturity to.him than meets the eye

      Olcia27 Good catch. I had to slow down and enlarge video to see it. This puts a different spin on the MV. I was thinking it was healing broken heart from romantic love. Could it be broken heart from being cast as a jester? Do you know what the building that is burning in the final shot/ frame is. Looks like burning apartment complex.

      Olcia27 I did a little more research on Stańczyk the jester. The character Stańczyk is a symbol in Polish art and literature of the Polish fight for independence. Is Jackson using this image to redefine our perception of the jester character? With Jackson there are always levels.

    I actually agree with what you said, also liked this more than Papillon and I thought the black suit scenes were absolutely gorgeous. But I just need to say.. Jackson can actually sing and he sings in the last GOT7 album, though not in the songs they promoted. Not like the vocalists but I would say that he has the nicest singing voice out of rappers (if we don't count Yugyeom as a rapper).

    • @remi8792
      @remi8792 6 років тому +23

      He also sang an ost for Novoland: The Castle in the Sky. The song is kinda ballad-y and shows off his voice is amazing.

      Yugyeom isn’t considered a rapper in the group he is considered a vocalist that can rap
      If he wants to, and true Jackson has a good ass voice

      In Moon U he sings a few lines and I didn't even recognize his voice at first even though he's my ub. He has an amazing rapping AND singing voice, but sadly he can't show his singing skill that often.

    Actually the Music director for both Papillon and Okay is the same who directed Hard Carry from GOT7. But Jackson rlly participated in the directing by coming up with almost all the ideas and the details the songs follow a storyline (he talks about himself and his struggle since he entered the kpop industry I guess). Oh and this MV is a prequel of Papillon (if you haven't noticed at the end there's a snippet of the beginning Papillon's MV where he turns his head after burning his "old him"). He planned everything back in July. So yeah it might not be obvious for a lot of ppl but both of his songs and MVs are actually deep and related to him. He already finished his album but he said he'll drop a few more songs and MVs before releasing it :)

    I'm happy you did a react video for this MV. I was waiting for it.
    In fact, I liked OKAY more then Papillon too (even though the trap music in this one really got me). I like the heavy feeling it has. And it's really gorgeous as you said.
    The chorus may be repetitive, but it feels like a way to convince ourselves that we're okay when we're not, you know? And I liked it this way.
    I think him doing his own music is really important so he can grown as an artist and he really does in fact in a beautiful way. (Still hope this won't make him leave GOT7...)

  • @jacqueline6807
    @jacqueline6807 6 років тому +4

    This song is my favorite of his and it really grew on me! Jackson is also my favorite in GOT7 and I'm so happy that you reacted to him

  • @Sarahdawnn10
    @Sarahdawnn10 6 років тому +2

    I think that the chorus was slow and dark because it was him telling himself that he's okay. He's lying to himself and pretending to be okay, so the music is a bit slower and has a bit of a darker tone. The verses are honest and emotional, which kind of builds up the tension of the song, becoming faster and more upbeat. Then it has this drop during the chorus (literally) where it gets slow and dark, kind of sets a tone of being emotionless and empty. I really enjoy the way it was composed! Really creative.

    Not sure if anyone knows but just fyi this song was mainly for the Chinese market (like how I guess Papillon was for US market since it premiered on world star hip hop?)
    It wasn't intended for the Kr market at all as it was released on various music platforms (including China) but not on Korean music portals such as Melon, Genie etc

    Thanks for reacting to OKAY. Really enjoy your reactions. You are on point about the visuals. He looks like a goddess/god.
    The staging, lighting, edits are gorgeous. I'm waiting for some kind person to translate the Chinese but from the English I gather this is a song healing a broken heart. He's burning up. He still has feelings for someone who is living their life like he doesn't exist. Crop him out of their pictures. Keep telling himself he's OKAY. It is quite elegantly sad and mad. I love it. It's a human relationship story. Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt... burnt it. LOL

    I was kind of afraid to watch this...but I am so glad the you see the growth with Jackson (as I do). People really have to realize that being part of a large group of creative minds can be somewhat stifling. And while we all know of the IMMENSE love that Jackson has for his GOT7 brethren, he obviously has a STRONG DESIRE to express his individuality. I say that you can certainly see that if you delve into the deeper meanings (hidden?) in these songs/MVs.

  • @user-sp4iw8dn3l

    Aww It's so nice that you noticed the visuals of his MV, since he directed and arranged all the aesthetic aspects on his own for the first time, because it is his own studio production. There are definetly room for improvement, but you could tell that he did put alot of effort and thought into his work:) Really enjoy your reaction, very thorough and logical, we need more reaction like this, keep up the good work!

    Okay is amazing. It's what I expected from Jackson's solo career since Boom x3 is one of my GOT7's favorite songs and was made by him. Let's see what comes next
    And yes, I also see that none of GOT7's (actually) really show what they are capable of. However, with You Are we could see more of them. I mean, who knew JB could do such high notes?
    I see that when the boys that the control, they show much more of them than when the company do that. If they keep working on their own music, I think they gonna surprise a lot

    This was not released in Korea! A lot of artists who are not Korean usually do their solo work in their native language. Jun and The8 from Seventeen sung their duet in Chinese (though there's a Korean version, I'm upset that the Chinese version wasn't on the album). Jay Park does English and Korean, Eric Nam as well, it really depends on if they have recording rights in their home countries. Jackson was in China during this and missed the last GOT7 Japanese album, but he got to promote himself in this home country as well as be a judge for a Chinese performing competition.

    I always get hurt when I watch your videos reacting to my faves. Of course you need to be honest when making reacting videos Hahahaha but somehow satisfied with the comments cause I feel it to OKAY 👌🏻 Hahahaha

    We all know that Jackson is trying to grow as an artist and trying to do his own thing. He himself said he wants to learn and try to grow by writing his own lyrics and producing his own songs.
    Jackson is a really talented guy but needs to grow up as a solo artist yet.
    I did not feel he showed 100% of what he really can do (in Papillon mostly). But I liked the vibe of OKAY, although the lyrics did not please me so much.

    Stunning and beautiful. Both Jackson and the video.
    Agree with everyone else, LOVE this way more than Papillon (which I didn’t like at all)
    Love hearing Jackson’s gruff, sexy singing too
