Yes I just shared this w my sister. She's on Facebook all the time even when we are supposed to be hanging out. I look over and she's looking into her phone. For hours. I've disconnected 4yrs ago now and my awareness is increased for the better and I'm a better person bc I'm truly involved and engaging conversation and spending time together. Life is for living and too short giving it to Facebook.

Every day I think about deactivating facebook. I don't have many friends on it and people I used to be good friends with just aren't the same anymore. I doubt anyone would notice me quitting it. I hate how people just don't talk anymore. Ever since smart phones and facebook the world has changed for the worse in my opinion. I just hate this decade because of it and I find it hard to adapt to it.

I quit FB just over a week ago to get away from the toxicity. I was turning in to a horrible argumentative jerk and became very depressed.
I kept messenger to keep in contact with those who I have regular contact with.
I use snap chat but only with a few close friends to be silly and send funny pictures. I use instagram for all the memes and funny viral videos and reading words of wisdom. I use reddit for the news and I love UA-cam because I love watching instructional videos, movie clips and other bits and pieces
After quitting FB a week or so ago I already feel the benefits. I'm happier, I have a better attention span and I feel like I can be more open to those who I speak with on a daily basis.
Im going to delete twitter very soon. I rarely go on it these days but i may as well if I find i rarely use it.

The other problem with Facebook is that we are minding other people's business not our own. We are wasting our time and thoughts on them and not on ourselves. I need to be taken care of me. And most people on there don't care about you anyway. Get off it and see how many people will call you up and ask "Are you ok?"

I know this was a year ago, but bro you are so right about that. I just gave up my fb a week ago. I sent messages to my family and friends to email me. Phhhh no one said a peep. My own mother didnt know i deleted fb after i left the post up for a few days. I dont want to go back to that. I got clarity in mind and focus on my life and my family. Exactly similar reasons I deactivated my FB account a year ago. I'm particularly uncomfortable with the fact that sites like FB show just one side of life or rather an "image" of what one "wants" to have of themselves. I've been way more happier and have been way more focused with whatever I do ever since I deactivated FB.
    Great video!

That's a great video, man! I deleted my Facebook account less than a year ago and ever since then, I found that it was one of the best healthiest decisions I made in life. I agree that Facebook is a huge distraction, a waste of time, and it's addicting. And ever since I left Facebook, I have felt that I have more freedom and now I can communicate with my friends who matter to me more in real time than on social media.

Btw. This is the best UA-cam video I've seen on this topic. It's really FOMO and comparison living at its worst. Everyone has their own journey and it's unique. Facebook makes you feel anxious and negative. Too much drama, negative politics and comparisons. I believe it's ruining my life. I left.
Can you do a video on what else you've deleted from your life? You said you don't have a cell phone. Would like to see what you recommend for a more peaceful life.

How very true - the part about projecting a false life, thus making others feel weird. In fact it is the very same reason I quit Facebook too. At first, I was very annoyed with people (internally I was calling them morons), but now after more than a year without it, I actually feel sorry for them - being trapped in that sort of false reality. I did try to explain my absence to a couple of people I know in real life (they failed to understand my point); I did not want to push the issue, I firmly stick to my principle of not overly explaining myself, and I respect that not everyone is ready to see things as they are - being militant about my reasons would most probably invite anger, and unnecessary argument. Some people clearly understand the "danger" while others need to realize it for themselves. I am almost 40 and spent a great deal of my early youth, trying to convince people around similar issues. About 5-6 years ago, a man that was wiser than me told me, "never give people advice, unless they really seek it from you." That sentence really marked a paradigm shift in how I deal with people.

The way I see it if our childhood friends where meant to be in our future they wouldn't have lost contact with us!! Facebook is an illusion false reality with people on your friends claiming to be your friends yet don't spend time with them in real life!! I was on Facebook had friends I tried my best to get them to visit when they pass my house or call or text they said oh where busy yet you have all the time in the world to check Facebook an Instagram Twitter Snapchat through out the day!! Has anyone wondered why we need so many apps that does the same thing?

I think what you said makes perfect sense. I deactivated my facebook account. I first stopped posting things to facebook, then I deleted the app and could only access it from chrome which because it was not so handy I ended using it less often and not posting anything, then finally I decided to just deactivated it all toghether. It feels good, kind f like a relief. I end up using the time and energy that I used to apply to checking facebook to much more valuable things like reading and working on my self-improvemnt and spirituality. Then I actually removed instagram from my phone and I don't check it nearly as often because it's not so at hand. I will mostly likely activate facebook again for it is useful for working and other things but the fact that I could live so well and better more at peace without it will and is actually decreasing my tendency to check it once I activate it again.I recommend for someone who finds it difficult to cancel their account just starting with deleting the app or take seasons of deactivating the account will actually improve life and you will gain more clear space in your mind.

I've been on Facebook for a while and after all this time, I've been thinking about gradually quitting. Some people say, "Well you're my favorite person to talk to. Why?"
    (Favorite person? Ha!)
It's gotten to the point where getting "likes" turned into a source of validity for me! :(
After seeing a couple seated at a table next to mine and the guy doing nothing but scrolling on his phone, it was the last straw! I felt like it's just time for a change. So I'm going to try giving up using Facebook for a month to see what it's like.

great video, Ive found facebook is a huge creator of narcisistic behaviour. some examples, in my town they have 3 tv weather woman, facebook has then constantly giving forth the image that they are always happy, are doing great financially, familywise, and career wise, they constantly show selfies and get off obn viewers saying "how beautiful you are", then they start having live facebook chats while they are doing a 30 minute newscast where they never stop smiling and talking about the great vacation they just went on or the new boat they just got or the awards thier kids just won, and one gal started having a contest where she asked viewers which of 2 dresses she should wear for the newscast...this is INSANE!, you are a weather lady not a freaking 6 time academy award winning movie star!, yet these ladies truely think they are celebritys and EVERYONE is interested in their lives.

Recently deleted mine for the reasons you mentioned, amongst others too. Seen so much human filth on Facebook too. People laughing about animal and domestic abuse, thinking it's okay or telling those who are abused to "grow a pair" and such. Public posts on that site are plagued with horrible people, regardless of their beliefs as a person. Almost hit my 10 year milestone using Facebook and ending my use with it has freed me immensely.

Scripturally I was led never-ever to open any social media accounts. There was so much herd-mentality involved in the explosion with the likes of FB and Twitter accounts that it was a total turn off to me. I thank God for His leading as my understanding is that once such an account is opened the host site continues to hold, track and farm the account's originator. This even if the account originator closes the account the deletion is merely window dressing and the monitoring continues....SCARY!

I see this was posted 4 years ago. I just looked you up on Facebook and I see you have been dormant on there for a very long time. Just curious if you are still off social media and if so has your life remained improved because of it. Of course, you may not be on UA-cam either so you may never see this question.

Another way to keep up with the Joneses. Who really has time for it? The hours we've spent looking at lives that are not real and slanted political viewpoints that we don't agree with, conflicting religious viewpoints and feeling like we're missing something?!? Life is too short.

Stop using Facebook is the best decision. No more stress, have all extra time, no depression, no more opinions from relatives.

You're NOT a "nut"; believe me. I just wish FAKEbook didn't become as big as it did. MySpace was starting to get too time consuming; but, at least, it went south. Time for Facebook to do the same. The problem is, people use it TOO MUCH to keep in touch. It's like, they keep in touch via Facebook or they don't keep in touch. Yes, that's why I'm almost reluctant to delete my profile. I DID delete it 8 1/2 years ago; and, like a fool went back.

I just decided to quit. For most of the same reasons as you described. Its nothing but a popularity contest, with a persons worth or lack of derived from the number of friends likes and comments.

I agree with everything you've said. I've made the same evaluation. We tell too much, we know too much, the worst sides, I get sick of them, they're prob sick of me, we post too much and it's annoying.

I get that for most this may apply people do meany of the things you describe in real life its just an extension of more of the same on fb
For me personally I don’t relate to comparing with others feeling bad etc i like my life & I like seeing what others are doing keeping up with their lives it gives me opportunity to express appreciation & admiration for others,
as far as me expressing my personal views I have a separate account for that I agree with your perspective on that being inappropriate for friends & family
I like your interviews see they are a few yrs old sad your not doing them now 😭

I joined FB back in August 2018.
    FOR ME...........
I don't post about my own life, I post events that happened years ago goi'n back to the year 1000. For my FB profile picture/cover photo, I use anything that is "ABOUT ME". Sometimes I use pictures of me for my profile picture.

What is there life isn't your life. people is only there to show you how life can be better if you move forward and go after what you want. People are not going to stop reaching their greatest limits or their greatness there's so much out there for all of us. Some of you only focus on the negative and why others are doing better than you. I think some of you just envious of how greater their lives have become.

What's the consequences going to be if you are being dishonest about yourself on Facebook ? or your being too exaggerated about what you post in there about what's happening with your private life.
