I feel like people really underestimate the power of addiction. Even if it’s just a phone I spend so much time on here and I skip meals, I get irritable and it really affects my health, I’ve been trying to get rid of this addiction but it’s so hard
Same thing IM trying so hard, planning things to do,but instead i end up on my phone.Probably bc my whole family is addicted and they only want to play and scroll on their phones. From 7-8 I use 4-5 now and IM pretty proud about it
how are u doing now
Delete the apps, simple
What you said is true, i said this to someone about gacha games is dangerous, and harmful bec it had an easy access to gambling, but you know what, they try to justified it so much that i just, think maybe i am too old to understand the young people these days...

Getting addicted to anything is harmful, let alone internet addiction
Yep
Did you?
It's no joke really, I was skeptical about technology addiction until I saw a red "beaver" runing out of my little red dot light. After that I felt very uneasy about my phone so much that it made me sick to my stomach, along with paranoia and that is from being on my phone for around 12 hours a day with little socialization. Yet here I am on my phone as usual. Isolation and screens don't go along very well and it shouldn't be a suprise.
Asapscience:people spend atleast 4.7hrs/day on their phones.

I like my big screen pc as i am pc user since 2006. Yes I know phones screens now are big and i hate it because I like phones should be in compact size because there are lots of other work which only laptops can do not phone.
Yea, but back in the day you couldn’t carry a computer everywhere you go and be addicted all day long..
I used to be a very avid reader but ever since I started using my phone frequently it's been way harder to focus on what I'm reading. Is my phone usage and lack of concentration related?

Many people can't handle the volume of truth here. Thank you for presenting this.
0:13 The same thing can be said for literally any other object you hold in your hand and look at for a long time, such as a book.
One month ago, just decided not to use a cell phone again... as part of a personal experiment.
I started to notice how my anxiety levels decreased after one week. I also felt more focused on my daily tasks and conversations. Even my mood improved a little. Also I felt this very comfy sensation of "having enough time for everything": cooking, cleaning, reading a book, et cetera... since I didn't have to watch a screen every 15 minutes, therefore, not having to interrupt any activity. No more phone updates, ringtones, playing the newest game from the App store. It was like freedom.
After two weeks, my quality of sleep highly improved and I became more confident to talk to new people and hanging out. I nearly aborted my project after day 19 due to pressure from friends and family, who started telling me they were getting worried "about not seeing me worried by this experiment" or "not giving them likes or sending them smilies". Priceless. The benefits of not using a cellphone vs using one were becoming real, so I just carried on. Everytime I was in need of information, just asked people or went to the library (yeah, those places still exist). An adress? Asked people on street. Some of them looked at me like "Use Waze and stop bothering me". I just smiled at them. Also, no more "pay everything or do transactions" with phone. Started paying bills the good ol' way: bank agents. Bloody hell... I even started to enjoy talking with them.
After three weeks, I decided to go further: no more social media nor television. No more pics nor selfies. Whenever I started a conversation at work about the things I was discovering... I slowly started to feel how sterile and trivial the conversations were, always talking about that new viral video and its derivations. At one point, I told myself "Damn, these people are boring and totally laughing thanks to the same old jokes, memes and hashtags". It felt like waking up from a monotonous nightmare.
Day 30 came and I just began to charge my phone in the morning. Reached my goal. All of a sudden, a thought drilled my brain: I'd have to read through hundreds of new info, emails, watch tons of pics (food ones included, ugh) and waste time on that. Oh yeah: WASTE MY TIME ON THAT. And all for what? Fulfilling my desperate need for some illusory glory thanks to social media?
Just gave the phone to my brother that very day.
Call me hipster, caveman, crazy fucker or whatever... but thanks to this experiment, just realized owning a cell phone is completely optional ("modern tool for survival" my balls) and the need of having one is imposed by marketing/group pressure phenomenons, both of which... in the end... do not care about your real needs.
It's Candy Time Boys and Girls are you still without a phone? I think this is a great experiment but there are some conveniences that would be hard to let go like gps and music. So instant and easy. How did you deal with that?
It's Candy Time Boys and Girls
To be honest, this really inspires me to do the same. It's amazing to see somebody actually give up on their cell phone addiction AND notice the changes. I'm so happy for you and have massive respect for you.
I've decided that I'm gonna do the same. I've taken screenshots of your entire comment, and every time I feel like I'm straying away, I'm gonna come back and read this comment. Wish me luck!

yea, my phone and my laptop changed me as well, i started to be addicted since i was 12! so at school, i never do my homework and got bad grade. now i'm 15 and i have the same problem, but when i try to study, it get me so hard.
I’ve turned on my colour filters and notifications... I feel like the colours make it highly addictive.. so I made it black and white. Feels like I’m reading a newspaper instead.
Same goes for notifications, if I don’t hear it go off every 5 minutes I don’t feel like I need to look at it.
i dropped my phone a few months ago and my family cant really afford to buy me a new one just yet which is fine. its been the nicest few months ive had in quiteeee some time. Even though its hard to contact my friends after school or my coaches for track or anyone for that matter, i dont really care because ive felt so much happier and reliant on myself. Just allow yourself to be bored. Its really not that big of a deal. Whenever i ride the bus to school, the first thing i notice is that 95% of the people on the bus are on their phones. its a really odd sight when youre the one observing that and not actually part of the image

Thank you for that informative video. I'm a visual learner and the pictures are real nice too. I'm currently trying to import all my photos to my computer so I can switch to my new flip phone I got. I feel like a slave to it and it's like carrying a weight around. No matter what I do to limit myself from it, I still seem to come right back to it and get sucked in. It really feels like a pulling or sucking you in kind of a feeling when I have that urge to check it. I hate smart phones, I always have even before I got one. I never wanted one. I'm a little bit different compared to most people, like for instance, if there is something popular, I usually will not go for that particular thing. It's like a red flag to me. I just dare to be myself with diginity of course. But yeah, I'm ready for freedom from being a Digital Zombie.
I read ON my phone... I hate it when people just assume I'm playing a game or going on Snapchat(I don't even have an account) when I'm just reading. I also hate candy crush.

A book is item that you read!! Hahahaha I get the joke
Its just a square like what's so cool about it?
i often feel like im addicted to in the internet. how do i break it?
The quickest way is probably to cut yourself off from it completely. If you're really addicted, you'll probably be thinking about it and you'll experience symptoms of withdrawal, but if you can get through it, you should be fine to return to it, as long as you don't give into your urges. Keep in mind, however, that going back to your original patterns will probably reform the addiction.
Alternatively, you can gradually cut back spending less and less time until you're to a point where it isn't controlling you. It'll probably take longer than the former option, but withdrawal will at least be less severe, depending on how quickly you cut back.
I'm not an expert on this kind of thing, but I do believe that sticking with these will help you out.
Nigtmaredemon My method was that rather than telling myself I can't go on the internet until other things are done, I tell myself I don't. Saying you don't do something is much stronger since it implies that you have the control in the situation.
The best way to get rid of an addiction is to find a replacement addiction, find it and your good to go.
I have no social life Daddy025 but then you are stuck in a infinite loop of addictions where you are addicted to restarting/renewing your addictions over and over with something different
Nigtmaredemon you don't
I do lots of MRIs of the c-spins and T-spines for young adults who have chronic issue with their neck and upper thoracic due to looking down for years.

You can start with the fundamentals: of identifying problems like for example the health consequences of looking down all the time ( mental, physical and psychological ) . After identifying problems you can find the root cause and then come up with a solution # for every problem there will be a solution .

What was the point of that "8-year-old child" comparison? That may be the *angle*, but we certainly aren't placing that amount of *strain* on our neck.
Yes, there is strain, but let's be reasonable. Scare tactics turn people off.
And why is this strain suddenly a problem? We have the same posture when reading a book or magazine.
And literally not everyone cab hold an 8yr old child on their back. I'd be on the floor if an 8yr old sat on me.
It's more or less to get an idea of what you're doing to your back. They said that the average person spends 4.7 hours a day on their phone, even if you have the same posture while reading, it's the fact that you continue to have that posture while you're on your phone. Imagine reading for a few hours then adding 4.7 to that. We're are constantly hunched now a days. And chances are that one probably spends more amount of time than the 4.7 that he mentioned.
