    The best part of these NPR music concerts is seeing how great Rap can be with real musicians and live music. Much better in my opinion. The Rakim one as amazing

    I LOVE how rappers who sampled classic instrumentation can get modern musicians to play those beats LIVE with the real thing while they perform. It legitimizes the art of rap because it shows that it can be done at a high level regardless of what is being used to support it musically. Respect to NPR for not treating rap like it's sub-par compared to other genres.

      The original version of this is basically ear rape with the off key sax sample and screeching noise. I need this live performance in my music library. Rhyme and flow are just as good though.

    Just amazing, takes me back to the days of juice crew and the real golden age of hip hop. I'm 52 now and probably too old and white to comment, but rap has lost it's way. Big Daddy Kane & Rakim were both just class acts before Pac n Biggie.

    Big Daddy Kane is a true MC! The original meaning of the word is master of ceremonies and their job wasn't to just perform but to keep the audience engaged in between sets of the DJs, and he really takes this into account in his performances. Making sure the audience and the band are all having a good time. Long live BDK!
