Loved hearing him sing "Cornbread & buttermilk & good ol' greasy greens..."(I'm sure that's not the title of the song but I do remember the lyrics 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️).
Ken was not the only one. Burt Reynolds was a regular cast member for a while. You can also see many bad guys portrayed by actors from other shows. My wife and I have enjoyed the old westerns for the past 50+ years. The best are actually morality plays that emphasize personal integrity, strength and honesty. Serving as hosts at the Cheyenne (WY) Western Film festival, we were honored to spend time with a number of those actors of Hollywood’s western films, including Dale Robertson, James Drury, James Brown and Sue Anne Langdon. They were/are wonderfully honest and they all condemned the modern trends in film and television. Great folks from a treasured time!

I also never knew he could sing so well! My uncle had quite a few records of the Sons of the Pioneers, which I am sure he was among them! I really miss him and wish he was back on Gunsmoke. Had no idea. Just learning about Ken Curtis and how handsome and what a great voice he had. I loved his guest shot on 'Have Gun Will Travel" singing "Noah's Dove."
I begged for permission to stay up an hour late, every week when Gunsmoke came on at 9 I think. I absolutely loved the show, Festus was a hoot and when he and Doc would argue, it was perfect. I carried a metal Gunsmoke lunch box for years.
I got to meet Mr Curtis in the early 1970's in Seattle, Wa. He was performing with the Sons of the Pioneers. I was around 7 or 8 years old.
