Hiya Folks! Skip to 3:40 if you’d like to get right into the Scenario. Better late than never, this one was a labor of love.
I wanted to treat this like my past “movie” sequences since it’s nice to see Night Elves do something for once (even though the mission is kind of a fail).
C'est la vie.

Also, this took about 5 weeks to put together coherently, mostly due to the fact this is the most buggy/glitchy PTR I’ve ever seen yet.

@@aidanwow1593 how dafuq? Didnt u see in WC3 she knows how to lead lmao. She and Shandris led the Sentinels to war against the humans, orcs AND undead. That is some top notch leadership and defending, she led the sentinels to free Illidan, led the sentinels to aid Maiev on the Broken Isles. She led the people when Malfurion was still asleep and still led the sentinels to awaken him. This Tyrande in WoW is... very different.

Tyrande isnt the Tactician, thats literally not part of her role and its poorly conveyed in OG War3 that shes not the Commander. youre actually Shandris Feathermoon in War3/Nightelves 1 campaign.
She is a Warrior, as Warriors are not Soldiers, again lending credence to her being a shitty tactician. Shes actually probably the best hunter in the lore that we have evidence of being a hunter, and not just the Hunter Class.
Shes also not a leader or High Priestess based on skill and diplomacy. thats what Malfurion has always served to her and was literally a major plotpoint IN Warcraft 3. Shes Leader and Figurehead as Elune's Oracle, in that her power within the Church of Elune is virtually incomparable. IIRC shes actually shown capitulating on the nature of faith to the Bishop of Stormwind, although calls Velen out on being a narrow minded ass several times, despite not having actual evidence of Elune's miracles to differentiate them from those able to be performed by the Naaru before Legion and the only known miracles performed by Elune upto the point of Legion being indestinct from the types performed by Naaru.
Furthermore, Tyrande's power within the northern kalimdor Nightelves really comes from the fact that after the War of the Ancients, the Night Elves never really rebuilt their government or church in a way we would typically consider rebuilding from the ashes. What remained of the Church of Elune simply capitulated to Tyrande, because Tyrande was the highest ranking remaining member alive. Jarod "Victory Absolute" Shadowsong, the highest ranking member of the Sentinels after WotA, went and became a hermit for 10,000 years probably because he realized that he couldnt actually lead a peacetime civilization. Furthermore, the Quel'dorei were first cowed into submission by the Eternal Punishment of Illidan Stormrage, and later once what little bit of stability Feudalism offers was getting first re-established in the post-war devastation of their civilization, became lax and were exiled from northern Kalimdor.
so Tyrande spent 10,000 years running basically the unholy bastard of a Clerical State Theocracy, a Peasants Republic, and a Despotic Monarchy. And she never learned diplomacy, instead favoring to use permanent imprisonment or exile.
15 years for one Malfurion badass moment.
And like 2 lines in the scenario itself. But eh, progress!

Even that moment was too much. This was supposedly Tyrande's moment to shine to grow from her status as Malfurion's girlfriend. I would have preferred for that moron to not show up at all.

As for the plot, no, this is no justice, this is not the vengeance you promised us. I will bathe in horde blood, or Sylvanas'. That is the only acceptable vengeance.

God it is bullshit that Nathanos lives at all. The writer that's practically made him his OC seriously needs to be taken off, his plot armour rivals the goddamn Titans.
Tyrande and Malfurion are EASILY the most powerful faction leaders in one way or another and, before this expansion, barely involved themselves in the Horde/Alliance matters. They both have tens of thousands of years of combat experience after taking part in majority of the big world events, up to and including repelling an invasion of the Burning Legion led by Archimonde himself, TWICE, and all it cost them in the grand scheme of things fairly recently (20 years is nothing in the time frame of their lives) was their immortality. ONLY their immortality. They are the two characters that SHOULD be feared by every member of the Horde, with good reason considering Malfurion can wave his hand and bury them alive effortlessly, and Tyrande can practically cause a meteor shower.
And yet this fucking Gary Stu has the balls to take them so lightly in a fight that he makes fun of them mid-fight... This motherfucker, that doesn't hold a candle to a favoured servant of the goddamn Lich King, fights off both Malfurion and Tyrande after she received a pretty fucking substantial buff from her goddess.
If the writers wanted him to live that badly, he shouldn't have been involved in this at all. A different character should've been used here to run the operation. You don't just heavily empower a character like Tyrande after she had to watch her home burn, and let the fucker that's kicking them while they're down get away that easily, someone NEEDS to die, and gruesomely!
I don't follow WoW much anymore, but Nathanos is just a "simple" person compared to Malfurion etc no?
So it should be an easy kill, a few moments ago she wiped out a camp by herself and now she struggles to just hurl some meteors or moon fire beams on them? Don't get it.
@@Krogdalo At best, Nathanos is a master tactician, so Sylvanas has him as her second because he can plan shit out greatly. Aside from that, no, there's pretty much nothing remarkable about him compared to other main characters. Which is what I was saying, any favoured servant of the Lich King would mop the floor would him. When Malfurion became active in WoW, it was pretty immediately throwing him into big world altering events, like fighting Ragnaros and such, and it only escalated from there. Malfurion made a habit of more or less soloing things that took armies, Druid or otherwise, to take down. And Tyrande is realistically no different. Her methods are different from Malfurion, but she can (and has on several occasions) taken out hordes of undead, demons and worse, in quick succession just with a simple starfall. And that's without being powered way the hell up by her goddess.
So there is no logical reason at all that he not only gets away alive, but holds his own in the fight against both of them. Malfurion solo'd Sylvanas and Saurfang leading up to the goddamn expansion, now they're practically saying Nathanos is a league above them!

Well. Nathanos was the first and only human "ranger lord," . So he's pretty bad ass and hold his own against any elves. Aside from being bad ass druids, Tyrande and Malf are still night elves aren't they? Pretty sure Nathanos is way more powerful now in his current state and also, a tactical genius. Just saying that he isn't as weak as you think.

This was disappointing. It doesnt seem like Tyrande has accomplished anything of significance other than talking about how mad she is. Cant even kill a scrub like Nathanos. Poor job at making the night elfs look powerful
Seriously though. I'm so sick and tired of Nathanos strutting around like he's a somebody. He's a pawn for Sylvanas, and even Delaryn should have roflstomped him with hilarious ease. That said, I'm also painfully tired of Anduin's cowardice and borderline treasonous treatment of his Allies. The Alliance needs a change of Leadership and the Horde needs to start taking massive casualties. You don't just escape a major offensive without causalities like the Horde are here. BFA has been the absolute worst xpac for me so far, and 8.1 looks like it could be the patch that finally pushes me away for good.

@@romanceavdar1196 What do you mean it's not the same blizzard? They said years that the entire plotline of WoW had been finished for more than a decade. Expansions are written 2 at a time. They knew what was going to happen in cataclysm when they were working on burning crusade.
So Nathanos Blightcaller escapes again with a “nyahahah”, so much for Elune’s wrath. Also, what’s up with the blight? You get showered with it and nothing happens, it’s totally ineffective! Besides that, Im impressed with the middle schooler who wrote this fanfiction, pretty imaginative for what it is. Too bad this is blizzard’s storytelling seal of quality nowadays.
i know it's never said or written anywhere.. but maybe tryande was weakend by the blight earlier thus her new form aint as powerful as it should be. this way both the new stance and the blight actually did sth.. that's probably what writers would say :D

I wanna add onto this and say, where’s the support? I get that there’s fighting in Arathi and Zandalar, but the Draenei, Gnomes, Dwarves, Worgen, Void Elves, etc. must still have forces around that can come and assist. Velen stands there and does nothing, who knows what Alleria and Turalyon are doing. It just all feels like bad writing.
The light have been compromised. You just don't allow darkness a upper hand like Alliance have opened their doors for, through humans. With the blessing of our prime champions of light, that have clearly succumbed to darkness. Velen and Turalyon probably not fully aware yet, being in the process. Alleria is the Alliance's equivalent to Sylvanas and she does the same to Alliance as Sylvanas does to horde. The future of wow is looking very dark unless both Alliance and Horde wake up. Even orcs should know better than to let this happen. Goblins and Belves likely just don't think that far and just see it as a means of profit. Funny to realize that an orc's honor triumph a belf's lack of conscience.

Yes of course. And the grim situation that everything is in will be at this status quo where evil reign unhindered and horde have won the war. All they have left to take is Moonglade. It is as if though devs are trying to give Kalimdor to Horde and EK to Alliance. Reality is that at this point Tyrande could take a stroll through Ashenvale and wipe out every single villain there, but instead we will have this status quo of Darkshore to prove the favor toward horde and their victory in the war where they have only gained and alliance have only lost.

I agree with you . But this is similar how they wrote final chapter of Frozen Throne . Arthas was about 20s or 30s years old and illidan was 10 000 years old one of the greatest sorcerer and hand to hand combat expert . You know how win in the end !
Mitko Suhov Arthas was a death knight of great power, wielding Frostmourne and fighting near Frozen Throne peak. Nathanos is just a better preserved corpse with a simple non-magical bow.

Yeah... that guy that single handedly forced the whole legion to retrive for a moment while killing thousnads of demones with one big storm, now cant deal with one undead ranger and 2 Valkyr? Malfurion (and now even Tyrande) are besicaly gods. There is just too much of power difference between these demi-gods characters with some supernatural abilities like Malfurion, Tyrande, Jaina, Thrall, Sylvanas, Velen, Magni, Khadgar, Medivh... and the rest, who are besically just regular people (well trained and on steroides, but still just people).
I honestly have no idea, how can be alliance loosing this war... ok, Khadgar, Magni and Velen are hippie, they will not fight. Medivh and Thrall are afk... But Malfurion can destroy one horde army just with one big storm, Jaina can destroy one horde army with flying laser ship oe few water elementals as she wanted to do with Ogrimar, Tyrande can destroy one horde army with few starfalls... and its over. There is noone on the horde side, who is willing to fight and who could stop them... even if Thrall came back from his smoke break, he would probably support Saurfang.

maybe they are strong but also weak. They can bleed so they can die. Thrall also lost to Garrosh Hellscream in a pretty lowly way. Mannoroth was supposed to be one of the strongest harbinger of the legion... but he died so pitiful.

@@schippes24 It happened during the War of the Ancients. It's actually from the novel trilogy of the same name, though I can't remember from which book exactly, as I read them many years ago. I recommend you read them, I enjoyed them a lot.
I miss the days when WoW was actually an MMO where you had to have a group of people you can trust and rely on to achieve anything meaningful in the game.
Today it's a single player game that's still online for some reason. Last time I played, no one said a word for like 6 hours. If they replaced people with AI, I wouldn't even notice.

@@peagames2002 she worked with illidan and the DH and all in legion, plus i think she went trought some therapy, she's too chill in comparison w3 maiev, but i'm enjoying it even so...
@@samyomura It might be so, although legion gave out that "still" outrageous angry-mad-old-Maiev outlook, at least it seems for this war they are settling that old war ax inside the well between them. I am going to anticipate to see what will happen between them, alongside other characters that take part in.
Maiev wanted Furions dick in warcraft 3 which is the reason she wanted her dead but then wanted Illidans instead.
After she killed Illidan, she realised she was nothing but a being driven by rage and vengeance and she changed.

@@Athelarius Tyrande should have a demi-god status herself now. Even before the ascension she could slaughter a big army of undead while being cornered on a small bridge.
I mean, she's one-shot the horde camp just a little before she confronted Nathanos. So wth happened within this small time frame that would make her be troubled against a little undead ranger. She literally just has to zap him like she did with the camp.
Well that's an Alliance problem in general. Supposedly have all these powerful weapons and characters that never do anything because if they did The Horde wouldn't exist. The Horde shouldve been wiped out a few times by now.
Honestly, this wasn't too bad in my opinion, but I do have my gripes. Most of them have already been stated in some of the other comments like "How the hell did Nathanos just survive a fight with the Night Warrior and the most powerful Archdruid there is?" My main issue with this is, once again, the horde get out with minimal....if almost no loss what so ever. We know Sylvanas only has a few val'kyr but (unless it was stated somewhere that I don't know about) we don't exactly know how many. The loss of just one doesn't have the impact Blizzard might be thinking it would. Unless that was one of the last two, I just don't think that really made much of a difference.
Heck, the horde just got a rather equivalent exchange AGAIN out of a situation they shouldn't have. They got Delaryn (Who would be able to identify and help counter most of the Night elf strategies) and Sira (Which means the Horde now has access to probably most if not all of the Wardens' vaults like Cordana with the Legion.)
Additionally, adding onto the horde's newest recruits....Sira I can kinda understand given the dialogue earlier, but Delaryn joining the Horde makes little sense to me. This would have been the equivalent of Sylvanas willingly joining Arthas because the Sunwell didn't help her in that fight. Delaryn can forsake Elune, but joining the psychopath that just burned down her home with thousands in it RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER.....*Sighs*
I know this is from three years ago, but it makes sense for Delaryn to join the horde, because Sylvanas showed her just how much her "goddess" cared about her and her people, she showed her that her hope meant nothing. Where was this hope, when her people were funneled into the maw by her goddess? Where was her goddess when she was raised as forsaken?

Good night Blizz has taken an absolute sledgehammer to their own lore. I'm honestly glad I quit playing the game at this point. I can't wait for classic servers to go back to a simpler time and one where the lore still made some damn sense.

@John Arch and yet Tyrande with all that power + the most powerfull druid to ever live couldn't kill Nathanos ( who is baisicly a small empowerment over a dark ranger with a mind for strategy) and 2 vakyr... if the lore they gave about the power boost of the night warrior and the drudis is correct never mind the fight even if all they wanted to do was run for their lives all the horde on that beach would have died. But no somehow he holds his own against them and makes and escape.... cause why not

For years I've been so MAD at Tyrande and Malfurian for allowing terrible thing after terrible thing to happen. It took the near full extinction of their race for them to finally find their backbone. But FINALLY, we get to see what they are capable of. My first character was a nightelf. This excites me. I cannot wait for this!

Finally, some development for the Night Elves. They're starting to look like their Warcraft 3 counterparts, which is great, in my opinion.
Also, I've seen people upset about how Nathanos, assisted by the Val'kyr, holds his ground against the Alliance hero and Tyrande.
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
This situation is mirrored in a Horde mission. Blademaster Telaamon(a nobody in terms of lore importance) defeats Rokhan (the most important living Darkspear Troll at the moment and among the founding members of Orgrimmar) and the Horde hero is sent to save him. The Horde hero fights and defeats Telaamon *while* he's still using his power to prevent Rokhan and the nearby trolls from moving.
You cannot compare the two. Rokhan is a young troll. Powerful for his age maybe but stil... While right now Tyrande is supposed to be OP as fuck by becoming Elune wrath warrior... And in this situation and even with Malf and our hero we can't kill a pitiful ranger and 2 valkyr ? Please dude. If it was Sylvanas herself alright but right now it's only her underdog... I mean even Varian was in the end beaten by mere demons and i believe that he was way more stronger than Nathanos... Si how the fuck can he escape alive this situation ?
Even before this, Tyrande was OP as fuck. The Alliance are literally filled with gods and the writers at Blizzard still don't do anything meaningful with them. But honestly, Blizzard never could do anything meaningful with the Alliance nor do they want to. There is a genuine Horde bias over there

Also, the most crucial aspect is that he is the current leader of the Darkspear Trolls. One of the most important races of the Horde. And he gets clapped by a character that has NO background whatsoever. The equivalent to this situation would be Tyrande herself losing to one of Sylvanas's Val'kyr in straight fight.
Nathanos isn't a nobody. In Legion, he fought Greymane and had the upper hand. When Sylvanas fought Greymane in Stormheim, Greymane outsmarted her and that lead to her defeat, since he managed to prevent her from obtaining immortality.
I play both factions and I love them. However, my main will always be on the Alliance side. I just love their background more. But come on, there's too much of a victim mentality going on in the community right now, on both sides.
Sylvanas burns Teldrassil? "Alliance bias. Blizzard wants us to be the bad guys again!"
Tyrande doesn't defeat Nathanos? "Horde bias, she should completely destroy him!"
In conclusion, taking down one of Sylvanas's Val'kyr is a huge deal and it is a continuation of Greymane's victory in Stormheim. Sylvanas is slowly dying as a direct result and she is running out of options.

The problem is that Greyman is glorified way too much Imo. Gens not that strong and as you said he couldn't do shit against Sylv... In all honesty I'm a huge night elves fan since w3 and I'm raging since thorns war. The fucking burning legion and scourge was defeated in the end (yes there were humans and horde but only theramore ans orcs trolls and taurens...) And even during their journey through the forest they suffered disastrous casualties. Yet now the Horde crossed the very same forest easily while the wild gods had been awakened... The fuck ? And now Blizzard gives us this joke...Even the tree burning is a huge WTF it's not a random tree it's a World Tree. Not something that can be burned by mere flamed catapults shots.

Delaryn is simply Sylvanas 2.0. Their stories are basically the exact same. Not only is Blizzard recycling MoP they're now going back even further and dig up Warcraft 3 again.
Keydiam with only difference that Sylvanas hated Arthas to the bones but Delaryn SUDDENLY in love with Sylvanas and the Horde.
Emerson Schindel and Sylvanas never did let go of her hatred and fear. Hell she is driven by both of those factors. Yet she helped Blood elfs to recover. Delaryn might be angry at Elune or Tyrande but there is also Malfurion who fought to the last and almost died there. She shouldnt hold anything against him! Hell he was helping her to the last. Then it also makes shit in explaining why she suddenly wants to kill ALL of her people and absolutely happy to serve the Horde and Sylvanas.

Honestly all the people in the comments complaining about Nathanos power levels should take it down a notch.
One does not become the Champion of the Banchee Queen unless he is able to back it up, regrdless of his personal history with Sylvanas. Nathanos Marris was the first and only human Ranger Lord of Quel'thalas - and he got there on his own merit, all Sylvanas did was give him a chance. As Forsaken he survived and hunted in the Plaguelands and bested all Alliance attempts on him. And the ritual to restore his mostly human form has strenghtened him greatly.
He had a contingent of Forsaken and Dark Rangers with him, two Val'kyr and the Horde PC. It is plausible that he held his ground against Tyrande and Furion, briefly though it was. And he lost a Val'kyr and barely escaped
Nathanos should've sacrificed himself for both valkyrs. They were more valuable after all.

Personally, I enjoy Nathanos being a major power in roles such as the one he's currently in, and his lore pays its credit. The only human that ever became a Ranger Lord, as well as helping the Alliance win major conflicts for over a decade in his previous life. Kudos.
I played on both Alliance and Horde in my life (wrath til begging of mop for alliance, mop til present day with horde) and let me just say that damnnn shorty everyone getting really bad lore. It's funny because I love both Nelves since I started with them but I also love Forsaken because that's what I currently play and I feel bad for BOTH Tyrande and Sylvanas. In my opinion Tyrande has an... Okay voice actor, but all of her lines are so focused on making sure NO ONE forgets for a second that her and Elune are a thing and that she is indeed a Night Elf. Like there's not a comment she makes that doesn't sound like a basic ass bread and butter "queen of elf people with obvious Wiccan (or paganism, if you really wanna go there I guess) analogy". Aaaand the cherry on top of this is that she is actually weak powered!! Nathanos is not like other Forsaken (sylv did some weird ritual thing to him in a short story a few months back or something) and even though I love Nathanos Tryande should've been able to take him, even it meant she was like injured it still would have been better than him getting away. It would've been a nice twist if she kept him as a hostage and the Nelves out of anger tortured him but since their magic is nature and whatnot he would start looking alive again despite being in pain. That's just something I made up on the top of my head and was already way better than what we see here imo. Oh and don't get me started at the Horde's fighting dialogue either. If you're saying, 'Hey UA-cam Commenter, that's a bit harsh' here's an example of Blizzard doing it right /watch?v=lQRJyleSvhc . This is what I mean. Blizzard has lost it's touch with "show, don't tell" which is one of the most crucial part of story telling and writing fiction in general. I feel like Blizzard underestimated their fanbase intelligence and so they lowered their own standard to make it easier for their fans to digest but instead it has just frustrated all of us.

Nathanos death would make Sylvanas really angry. I think that is the reason why blizz decided to let him live, so his death may be used in the fugure to trigger her, but the way he scaped was ridiculous. He was fighting two of the oldest and most powerful creatures in Azeroth and totally owned them.

I didn't like where Blizz went with Tyrande/Maflurion either the last couple years, especially how they did practically nothing in the Burning of Teldrassil prepatch. But at least they're giving them some much needed attention now.

This one dimensional Horde with it's once nuanced interesting leader, has been made into a one-dimensional killing machine, this is not a satisfying adversary, this is not satisfying for the Horde player either, nor does it make for good storytelling, the storytelling feels dumbed down and made for simpletons, insulting it's audience with senseless uninteresting motives, WoW used to be a bit better than that.. now it's black and white and to see beloved characters become so basic in their motives, to see such clumsy unskillful execution of the plot, is as the community states, disappointing.
