Really excellent use of the Volca Keys (in both this and your last video I watched w/ Waldorf Pulse and others). I'll likely use these shining examples to show people why I love it so much rather than try to explain (qualify) how a $150 mono/3-note par synth changed my life (depsite already owning Polysix & JX-8P great poly analogs).
+Chris Setterington Thanks Chris. I've found this kind of live set-up works for me so much better than a modern DAW. It has the immediacy that I loved about an Amiga running OctaMED with samples and MIDI gear, but with more realtime action :-)
Very nice. Just got a volca keys and a bit stumped with how to connect it with my tr8 and microbrute. See you've got all 3, any chance you could suggest how I can do it? Thanks.
Darren Ross With your set-up, the simplest way is to connect the TR-8's MIDI Out to the Volca Keys MIDI In, and trigger the MicroBrute from the Volca Keys by connecting the Volca Keys Sync Out to the MicroBrute Gate In. That way, the TR-8 can send MIDI clock and Start/Stop messages to the Volca Keys, and the Volca Keys can trigger the MicroBrute's sequencer (although it will trigger it at half speed, because the Voca Sync signal is sent on every 8th step, not 16th). Now I use a Kenton MIDI Thru 5, which splits the TR-8's MIDI Out signal into 5, allowing it to send start/stop and tempo to 5 different devices at once.
Great. Thanks for the info. I have connected it as you mentioned and its triggering the microbrute to play sound while the sequencer is off. I'll have a play around with the settings on the microbrute software to see if its that. I think it may be something in the tr8 that I will have to switching/off. Also just found out the scatter from the tr8 is 'scattering' the volca keys output as well. Joys of modern technology I suppose ;) thanks again for your advice. Awesome UA-cam uploads!
I seriously doubt if anybody else does this much productive and beautiful sounding stuff in a shed anywhere else in the UK ! Nice one Tony.
Real "hands in the air church of trance" moments in there near the 6-8 minute mark :)
Gorgeous sounds.
Great job! Great performance!
very good tune this sounds like a classic house tune
the volca keys is definitely the best one of the three

Very nice! Much cooler than a lawnmower and other yard maintenance equipment ;)
Awesome.
make's me happy
Really cool :)
Great!
Good stuff. Try colliding delays :D After all, they are built in to that beast.
proper mate.
Inspiring stuff for an x Amiga sequencer with an Electibe and fighting the DAW MIDI palendrome.
