Tx for a brilliant video! Enjoyed sharing the various experiences with you, albeit virtually. Gave a much better sense of the ship as well as the quality of the food offerings at the included dining areas. QA does look quite beautiful to me and it's very encouraging to see that the basic quality of the food in the included outlets still seems to be very good, though there were some initial service issues. My booked cruise on her is some way off, so by then am sure everything will be bedded in.
You are welcome! The food we have had so far has been tasty and Queen Anne certainly is different but a very beautiful ship. The service issues should be all resolved by the time you get onboard!
Interesting. We were on the QM2 cruise from May 5 to May 12. We were told that the reason our service wasn’t as good as normal was because they’d taken all the experienced crew off for the Queen Ann maiden voyage. Yet, your experience was that the crew didn’t know what they were doing.
We didn't speak to anyone who had come from QM2 the majority of staff we spoke to were new to cruising. However, as well as all the new staff they must of pulled some staff from the other ships to have some experience onboard. Sadly this wasn't evident in our experience.
Great video! Carole's right, on the map it's A Coruna.😂😂 I'm so pleased it's the brilliant Emma Rice's adaptation of Brief Encounter, I've seen it twice at the theatre and anything Emma Rice is involved in is guaranteed to be brilliant. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they've made it work for Queen Anne. Thanks for all the tips, I'll be booking Bright Lights as soon as we board. I really hope you're wrong about introducing charges to the venue but I'm also a cynic so nothing would surprise me. I'm must say I'm still not getting too excited about Queen Anne.
Thanks Angela, thought I was going mad with A Coruna! It was so interesting the difference in opinion, hope you enjoy it. Do book Bright Lights that was fabulous. We will se if charges appear.......
Falafel are deep-fried balls or patties made from chickpeas or fava beans, sometimes both, plus fresh herbs and spices. Falafel is a popular Middle Eastern street food sold from vendors or fast-casual spots in countries such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Israel, where it's the national dish. Thx. 😊
You commented about the theatre front chairs being on flat surface, but actually, if you look at your video, you will notice that the row #5 is much lower than it's front seats or back seats. When I mistakenly sat on this row (obviously people tried to bypass this row) I would get up and change seats, because I felt like I was in a hole!
Falafel is chick peas ground up with spices and deep fried they can be patties too and very different depending on the recipe Pattie are less greasy sometimes it’s the sauce that makes them yummy ❤
Great video, nice to hear the differences of opinion. I suppose on a Maiden things are unlikely to go to plan but this does seem as if the issues were worse than anticipated. There was always a risk in modernisation of their newer ship and with cruising now appealing to a younger demographic they can’t be left behind.
Thanks! Definitely lots of different opinions. Totally understand their rationale for modernising the fleet and some things are really working well. Others definitely need work!
We just got off from Queen Anne after four weeks voyage and I have to agree with Paul on some of the comments and I have to agree with Carol on others. First day we got on the ship we sat down to a table with broken glass on the table and then I was served fish with so many bones I couldn’t eat it. There was a couple sitting next to us making jokes about us and the fish bones so I went to ask who I thought was an assistant Matred of the Britannica restaurant standing at the desk if I could get another table. There was other empty tables and when I mentioned them, he chuckled and said that doesn’t mean we could move. He was very rude and arrogant and refused to give us another table. Two days later at breakfast, the ketchup dispenser had clogged up from overnight and had not been cleaned up and when I went to use it, it spit straight out and all over my shirt. I asked a couple of workers to help me and all they did was laugh at me and walked away. I asked for a manager and it happened to be the same assistant manager that was rude on the first night. He was in charge of the artisan restaurant. When he came, he told me I did not know how to use a ketchup dispenser, and it was my fault. The next day I sent my suit to be cleaned and pressed, and they lost my suit. Two days later a gentleman from across the ship knocked on my door at 10:30 PM and asked if I wanted my suit because they had given it to him in his room. We noticed our bed had not been changed in the first two weeks so we asked the cabin Stewart to change the sheets and he told us he had a schedule to keep and would do it later. We stripped the sheets off the bed ourselves and told him we would not sleep on a bed That had not been changed in two weeks. A few days later, we went to go on a tour bus and asked one of the Cunard tour guides where to catch the bus. he told us to stand next to the gate and he would let us know when the bus would be ready. He then walked away and never came back. We noticed other passengers loading on tour buses and asked one of the bus driver when our tour bus would be coming. The bus driver told us he was the last bus leaving and if we did not get on, we would miss our tour. The Cunard tour representative never came back to tell us our bus was ready to board. After the four weeks on Queen Anne, we were ready to get off and had booked transportation from the ship to London, England through Cunard Cruse Line. They told us they did not know what we were talking about and we should either call a cab or our an Uber driver to bring us to our hotel in London to hours away. They said we could claim it on our insurance and get our money back later. Luckily I had printed out my confirmation from Cunard Cruse Line and showed them that I had already booked and paid them for the transportation. I had to demand they transport me to my hotel. I am a US citizen who has never been to Europe, had no idea how to contact a cab and because I live in a small town, I have never used Uber even in the US. They were willing to leave us on the dock in Southampton on our own. Many of the workers were rude, some of the managers refused to help us . And when we went to the pursers office, they just brushed us off and would not help . I had to stand in long lines at the purser’s office because there was so many customers complaining to the desk . The ship is beautiful, the food was great and we enjoyed the entertainment, but the staff was unprofessional and did not care about the customer. Paul is right, Queen Anne has a lot of issues that is not being addressed even after three months of sailing. We met a lot of unhappy passengers, even some that had been sailing on Cunard for years. We are canceling our future, Cunard Cruise, and will never sail with them again . sorry for some of the spelling and grammar, the software auto corrects and it is hard to go back and fix
Oh wow that is just error after error after error, we were hoping that after time things would improve but sadly doesn't seem to be the case. So sorry you had this experience. We were so disappointed with all the issues we had too. We have had excellent experiences on the older Queens and would happily cruise on them again but will not be rushing back to Queen Anne!
Hi, been watching your Queen Anne videos with interest as we’re due on board the end of July. Do you think it’s a good idea to do an inclusive drinks package? .. We’re moderate drinkers, but it’s a warm cruise , so I’m factoring in more soft drinks and coffee. I’m really unsure, as each blogger seems to say differently on this subject. Thank you , your videos are very amusing and informative.
We didn't buy the package and it worked out for us. We have all the prices of drinks here which should help you work out if it would be worth buying the package for you paulandcarolelovetotravel.com/cunard-drinks-prices-and-packages/
I have heard others talk about how everything pretty much closes so early which is sad to hear. Sometimes people want to wind down their day with late night drinks and conversation.
We just got off the ship yesterday and there was so much negativity about the ship from the more seasoned “Cunarders” …lots of chat about nit returning blah blah … We found it to be a nice vessel which has teething troubles which hopefully will be ironed out over the next few months . MDR is very hit and miss re. Service. Outside areas are very good , plenty of space and seating . It’s a ship that anyone who uses Cunard will have to try , and be fair about it and give it a few days to firm an opinion .
We found the issues we encountered all to do with service which should all sort in time. She is a beautiful ship and agree there are some fabulous outside areas!
The ship seems small and with almost 3000 passengers, does it seem crowded at the busy times to you? Most of the video I don't see that many people around.
Hi both, Great insight from your maiden cruise, we are not technical, can we get to venues without booking on apps!!! Like just ask to be booked in?? Hope so 😂
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Yes, I had an excellent US/Caribbean trip in 2022 - excellent food and the entertaintment was first class too. I could have stayed on for double the time!
What a shame that people misses that epic fireworks 💥 IT was gorgeous Sidebar you broke my heart that Egypt was such a disappointment Know would get stuck in the pyramids but always dreamed of seeing them. YES CROWDS 🤮
You said "you MUST make reservation(s)" for Bright Lights .... NOT TRUE.... I went twice to "Bright Lights" by just stopping by there and asking to attend, and I did.
You will not step on board ,feel pampered and leaving all your cares behind. This is a commercial ship. Travel on the Elizabeth, Victoria and Mary. Then you will experience luxury.
Fab video but the maiden gifts are not worth the bugs Those windows in the food hall seem bigger than most buffet or dining rooms and the sea does not disappoint ❤❤
I really do not like the Queens Room as it is not very grand and it seems the ceiling is way too low and claustrophobic feeling. There is very little seating which defeats the purpose of a Queens Room, in my opinion. It seems to be more of a different kind of venue.
I'm sure it did. 🤣🤣🤣 During the pandemic I made a list of all 'iconic' films - Casablanca, Vertigo, Psycho etc . I wish I left Brief none encounter off the list.
Another brilliant video as always ! Love both of you ( meet you several times aboard QM2 ! ) . As to the Queen Anne, I’m booked for the Transatlantic Maiden Voyage January 2025. I think the pool and lounge areas outside are beautiful. Love the new funnel design ( no air scoop that the other three Queens) It makes the funnel look much more grand and impressive! The interior design is another matter for me ! The cabins and Britannia Dining Room are fantastic and lovely, but the rest looks bland and boring ! The Queen Room is just pure ugly! The final impression for me ? If you’ve been to Las Vegas many times over the years like I have you will know exactly what I mean by this statement. The interior décor looks like a “ Mid Range Las Vegas Strip Hotel from the 1960’s or 1970’s !!🥴👎🙄 Definitely doesn’t have the majestic and elegant vibe that one expects from a Cunard ship !! SO DISAPPOINTING! I’ll be sticking to the QM2 , Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in the future !! MikeW. 🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️
Hey Michael thanks so much! Queen Anne has some fantastic outside spaces. LOL love your comparison to Las Vegas! It is a great looking ship in parts...but we do love the other Queens!
The Queen’s Room is a disaster, it looks and feels like an airport departure lounge. I thought Brief Encounter, whilst very well staged, had more than a touch of Am Dram about it. The drinks are much more expensive than previously (if they had in stock what you wanted to order off the menu which was a big if). We ate in Sir Samuel’s on the first formal night (I saw you both out on the Pavilion Pool area from our table), which was good but really not worth the 45% price hike compared to Veranda. We are back on QA in mid August, in Princess Grills this time, and I sincerely hope the teething issues have been resolved by then. We are back 2 days and then board QM2, also in Grills, so it will be very interesting to compare the 2 sailings. I met several people on board the Maiden who had booked the QA Maiden World Voyage but who were moving their bookings to sailings on QV or QM2 after their experiences on board. BTW, I’m still waiting for a reply from Ms McAlister to the detailed 4 page letter that I sent her on our experience on board the Maiden Voyage.
I am still drafting mine. We are back on QA in October so hopefully they would have sorted it out. We are Queens Grill but anecdotally talking to someone on the maiden who waited 90 minutes for their mains in Princess Grill one can only hope.
Definitely lots of issues, service ones re all sortable so they should get resolved. Hoping your Princess Grill experience will be better and it will be interesting to compare the two. Drinks have definitely gone up, we have updated our post on our website with the new prices. We did have blustery walk out there lol! Do let us know if you get a reply!
@@stevenbennett3922 Think the grills experience has improved.....been following Gary Bembridge @tipsfortravellers on the second cruise and he has been in Queens Grill.
Firstly thank you both for a good video. As a cunarder with many voyages under my belt there is on important issue I've noticed the new ship.... THE LACK OF COMFORTABLE SEATING in public areas. Go compare QV seating in Queens room with QA , same in other public areas . .... don't cunard want their passengers to be seated comfortably!!! I won't even mention the first 15 rows of seats in the theatre , (totally obstructed view ,disastrous for short people ) nor will I mention some of the disgusting colour combinations, or the modern office decor with idiot chevrons , annoying geometric carpets grating on the eye , nor will I mention the central lobby being transplant from a shopping centre in Manchester!!!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel many thanks for your reply , I thought the front seats would be a problem , I really don't understand what the hell they were thinking . I've booked 2 voyages on the anne ,but if our first voyage isn't good the second is going to be rescheduled to other cunard ships . Which tbo looks very likely
Great video of your time on the anne... unfortunately it looks like a modern office complex or shopping centre...the qm2 drips in royalty acknowledgement...the anne is nothing special...thanks for the experience...id just like travelling on the qm2 ...
I think it’s good as it gives them diversity within the fleet. There may people who want to try Cunard but enjoy a more modern ship. So long as they still keep the more traditional ships available that is!
@@jorgschwantje1239 sure, I hear you. From what I understand though, it’s not just the ship itself/decor that makes Cunard different or stand out. Things like the activities/food/passengers with similar interests too. You’ll have to forgive me, this is coming from someone who is super interested in cruising but haven’t experienced it yet myself. So always keen to learn from those that have 😊
@@Beth.m- Yes Beth, true. I got your point. But my problem is this: An "old fashioned" big band, violines and white gloves look fantastic in a classic interior like Victoria but appear kind of odd in a modern room for my taste. Like it does not fit. Currently historic Netflix shows like Downton Abbey, The Gilded Age and so on attract so many viewers, the style is so en vogue again that I just don't get why they want to be like everybody else. 🤷♂️
I've just come off Queen Anne after 5 weeks, H415, H416, H417. I'm not going back. It's poorly thought out, uncomfortable furniture, not very accessible. All in all a bit of a mess.
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Cabin doors are narrower, we can't get a wheelchair through now. Princess Grill corridors are narrower, when there room stewards cleaning trollies are out we can't get a wheelchair passed. Trying to get through casino, there is only one piece you can get a wheelchair through, that's between a pillar and a fruit machine with a stool in front of it. Evenings in Queens Room there are so many stackable chairs that the walkway is very narrow and the lighting is poor so you bump into things and people. A lot of the furniture has low seating with no arms, not friendly at all. We'd done 19 trips on Cunard before this, so no novices. We stayed in Princess Grill, although we wouldn't again. The restaurant is so big, the Grills lounge is a joke, no view just a skylight and the usual uncomfortable seating, grills terrace arms to be a corridor for people wanting a gawp, nothing to do anyone wandering through. What are we paying for? If you pay extra to get a quiet cozy refuge you don't get it in Queen Anne grills. The staff were great though.
Agree Brief Encounters brutally annoying The stereotypes are well crafted to the point that I wanted to take the gossipers, the md and the couple out behind the barn 😂😂 Oy vey vapid critters
Not sure about others but that ship does nothing for me. Looks very boring & seems like you have to pay for so many things on board. We have done 7 cruises with P&O, Princess & RC
We haven't been bored in fact there is so much going on we can't get to it all. It is the same as the 3 cruise companies you mentioned they all charge for speciality, or individual meals eg the Glass House on P&O.

Lol yes definitely the most disappointing place Egypt!
Thank you for sharing - you guys always make us laugh as well, which is nice :)
Your welcome! That's good to hear!
Love that logo on the waist coat! Brilliant idea!
Thanks we are really pleased with it! 😍
Enjoyed your video but there is nothing about that ship would make me switch from Seabourn
We have yet to try Seabourn...hopefully one day!
Hardly comparing like for like …
You said "you MUST make reservation(s)" for Bright Lights .... NOT TRUE.... I went twice to "Bright Lights" by just stopping by there and asking to attend, and I did.
Unfortunately on our cruise it wasn’t an option and you could only attend once. Seems like they are back tracking on quite a few things
You will not step on board ,feel pampered and leaving all your cares behind. This is a commercial ship. Travel on the Elizabeth, Victoria and Mary. Then you will experience luxury.
We’ve traveled on them all.
Love going through your videos to catch up!
Glad you do!
Fab video but the maiden gifts are not worth the bugs Those windows in the food hall seem bigger than most buffet or dining rooms and the sea does not disappoint ❤❤
Yes fabulous views from the Artisan food hall!
La Coruña (pronounced Corunya) is Castilian Spanish whereas A Coruña is Galician Spanish. So Carole was correct too!
Lol thanks for that!
Falafel is deep fried ground chickpeas, an Israeli dish.😊
Thanks for that, we like it!
I really do not like the Queens Room as it is not very grand and it seems the ceiling is way too low and claustrophobic feeling. There is very little seating which defeats the purpose of a Queens Room, in my opinion. It seems to be more of a different kind of venue.
That is disappointing!
Hopefully when we sale on her in June next year all teething issues will be sorted.
Yes sure they will be!
That’s so funny how you disagree about the show. We are the same about Baby Reindeer…. So much so it’s a banned topic in our house 😂
Lol! Haven't watched that yet!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel DONT WATCH IT! You really don’t need to see it! 🤯🤯🤯
@Lorna.R lol now you are making it more intriguing! 🤣🤣
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel 😂😂😂
Greetings from Canada.
Hello! 😀
IMO, Brief Encounter is definitely a play that women can relate to more than men. It's so much about feelings that men don't pay attention too.
Yes definitely think you are right!
I've seen the film and it's was a borefest. I'm with Paul - I'm a woman too.
Lol! It caused such a debate!
I'm sure it did. 🤣🤣🤣 During the pandemic I made a list of all 'iconic' films - Casablanca, Vertigo, Psycho etc . I wish I left Brief none encounter off the list.
Looks wonderful I can't wait to go on this beautiful ship next year 😍
She is pretty!
That’s what you get on a maiden voyage surely. I will wraith for later reviews to make up my mind about QA.
Not on our previous one!
@@stevenbennett3922 @PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel We also have not yet received the usual post-cruise survey, not sure if anyone else has?
I suppose its mire like proper theatre , like going to the Everyman in Cheltenham . Not that the Everyman is boring xxx
Think the Everyman is better!
You can say A Coruna or La Coruna - both is right. La Coruna is Spanish, A Coruna is the local Galician language.
Oh thank you, good to know we were both right! 😂
Was Clare Balding really on board???? I saw a line in the schedule.
Should have watched the whole way through first!
Lol! 🤣🤣 She was!
Thanks Steve! The theatre is disappointing, totally agree I really struggled to see with out bobbing up and down. It definitely is different!
Yes understand that! Will be interesting to see what you think!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I'll let you know! Many thanks for your reply appreciated it 👍
Great video of your time on the anne... unfortunately it looks like a modern office complex or shopping centre...the qm2 drips in royalty acknowledgement...the anne is nothing special...thanks for the experience...id just like travelling on the qm2 ...
Thanks...it is very different from the other Queens!
Sadly this ship has nothing to offer me they will struggle for return custom
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
At every other company I would not care about contemporary design. But Cunard? It's the only thing that made them special... 🤷♂️
Yes the other three Queens are pretty special!
I think it’s good as it gives them diversity within the fleet. There may people who want to try Cunard but enjoy a more modern ship. So long as they still keep the more traditional ships available that is!
@@Beth.m- If I want to have a modern ship, I book MSC for a lower price and with more sparkle and grandezza to be honest.
People really should have stood up and walked to the deck to see the fireworks rather than sit there and miss the fireworks.
Yes we would of left!
I've just come off Queen Anne after 5 weeks, H415, H416, H417. I'm not going back. It's poorly thought out, uncomfortable furniture, not very accessible. All in all a bit of a mess.
Oh wow 5 weeks! Do you mind sharing your accessible issues as we get asked a lot about that?
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I tried to reply, did you get it?
Thanks for the feedback. Can understand your frustrations!
Yes thanks so much!
The ship does not look like Cunard. A bit too "middle of the road"? The elegance is not there, at least for me.
It doesn't have the elegance of the other Queens.
Ducky @teatowel
LOL! 😜
Am with Paul on the brief encounter doesn’t appeal to me what so ever, to be honest the ship doesn’t, great vlog though love The Soprano t shirt.
Thanks, definitely splits opinions! Paul got that from the Mob Museum in Las Vegas!
been to Vegas a few times but not the Mob Museum would love to go there.
@timeout2770 It was really interesting!
I'm dancing in the wind, dancing in the wind lol ....................NOT (dancing in the rain as the song was originally ) 🤣🤣
Yep it was a bit blowy! 😂
Putting teething problems to one side, the biggest takeaway is it looks and feels a bit… ordinary.
It is a very modern generic ship...
Agree Brief Encounters brutally annoying The stereotypes are well crafted to the point that I wanted to take the gossipers, the md and the couple out behind the barn 😂😂 Oy vey vapid critters
Lol! 🤣🤣
Hi, are you getting bored with cruising?
No we still love it! Just elements can be frustrating!
WORST SHIP OF THE FLEET .. I ENJOY THE QUEEN VICTORIA AND ELIZEBETH FAR BETTER
Were you on the Maiden cruise too?
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel but a friend was on it all problems from slow service due to missing a show food was cold and alsorts
@nigellewis8461 Yes sadly lots of issues. Hopefully will improve in time!
