Called 'Manusmirithi Dahan Divas', this was done to protest against the religious ideals that advocate untouchability against the lower classes and women. On December 25, 1927, Babasaheb Ambedkar burned Manusmirithi as a symbol of rejection of the religious basis of untouchability and gender. The event was arranged during the Mahad Satyagraha. Mahad Satyagraha was a fight to assert the Dalits' right to access public water, and to embrace humanity and dignity. ‘Manusmirithi’ advocates the doctrines of the caste system. It is believed to be the first legal text and constitution of the Sanathana Dharma. Shudra is to serve the upper varnas (castes) faithfully with devotion and without grumbling. (Manu 1-91) Now awareness has been created among people to know what this manu sastram is. These sanghis have chosen a suicidal path and have thrown a stone on a beehive to get stung!
