Thanks for the explanation. I have always speculated most modern Hiigaran are ethnically Taiidan and probably bilingual. This vid basically confirms it.
Yeah, over the years since HW2 was released many have wondered how 500k or so Kushan became over hundreds of millions of Hiigarans in the matter of a single century. Therefore the reveal of the Kithless and that many of such are actually former Taiidan does neatly explain such a thing. Millions of Taiidan that remained on Hiigara when the Kushan claimed it as their own Homeworld basically asorbred by the vastly smaller former Kushan population.
The Mothership carried at most 600,000 people to Hiigara 300 years ago. Assuming a population growth rate of 2.5%, this means that the population of the Hiigaran Empire would be 989,260,954. As such, unless they accept a lot of immigration or have aggressive exowomb programs in place they have a total population slightly smaller than the combined populations of the EU, US, Japan, UK and Canada, or the total global population of 1800.
It was noted in this video that Taiidan that didn't have the means to leave the planet were accepted in to the nation. Just as various worlds that were once controlled by that Empire have since come under the Hiigaran. So their actual population is vastly larger then that. Which as is also noted in this video leads to the situation that most citizens of the Empire are not of Kharak origin. Well nothing to surprising in the end really, a starter population of 600k can only get you so far so quickly after all. Large compromises were unsurprisingly made to let them get their feet under them far more quickly.

one thing that has always bothered me about the homeworld series is the seeming lack of Alien species. everyone in the galaxy seems to be some variety of Human. think about it, how would the Hiigarans be able to integrate those Taiidan who couldn't leve Hiigara if they were aliens? wouldn't work

I mean there is so much talk about the possible internal political issues of the Higaaran Empire of Kiiths possessing their own individual militaries and the existence of kiithless non-Kharak factions. Like the writers clearly wanted to make a more personal style story, so why not the personal stories of people of different Kiith or the other factions factions. Yet they only went with 3 people who basically have no flavor and are literally just protag, supporting character, and antagonist. Oh, and Karan… again.
Really enjoyed the recap of the lore of the Hiigarans, thanks for the video! Can I suggest a different background music for future content? The one chose, was almost 'always there', became a bit distracting and a little annoying for me.
So does gearbox wanna let us know we're Sajuuk and the dreadnaught are chilling. Was really hoping they would be in 3 since 2 spent the campaign on a quest to find them.
I miss the old days, when you paid to have the game, not the right to play on it until the developer decided otherwise. I still have the CDs for Homeworld, Cataclysm, and Homeworld 2...
I wonder if every Kith-Sa have the dame number of representators in Daiamid. Like. For example it would be interesting if every Kith was entitled to have only 1 representat no matter how massive their army and economy is. This would create an interesting power dynamic where even the strongest Tiiths would have to still care about the opinion of the little ones, becouse in Daiama their words would have the same weight. Gaining representation in council would be the most important step on any Kith-Sa political ladder as in that moment he would become center of attention for any other Kith and would be made equal with the big ones. I could image that this would be the way many Kiths would gain power and influence. By political alliances and deals. The big would be effrcted by any passed law the most so they would need to create their factions to pass legislation. Which would mean lucrative offers, deals for even the smallest Kiths with representstion. It woulf also be the best way to ensure that all Kiths ate loyal to the empire. If any Kith-Sa goes against empire and normal warnings do nothing, his representation could be rewoked which would be a massive blow to his political power and influence. All the Alliance, all deals and all loyalities they had for their voice in council just gone instantly as everyone realise dealing with them is pointles.
What's with all the forced HW 3 hate in the comments? Just finished the story and I loved it. It had great mission design, good music, loads of high quality cut scenes with great voice acting and a gripping story. Been playing Homeworld since the first one came out and this takes its spot at the top together with Homeworld 3.
Honestly. I have the head canon that Sajuuk pretty much was rebuilt, somehow, into the Khar Sajuuk Mothership as it not only sports the awesome main gun, that is similar to the Sajuuk but has advanced point defense cannons that are basically lightweight ion cannon guns. Shrug. Don't if it was possible, and kind of blasphemous in a way really but I could totally see something like that happening.
Oh, another thing. Since it's the "Homeworld week", you can possibly make a video of "Building your Battlegroup" about making an Hiigaran Navy battle group... It would be fun. Between those who are pro-strike crafts and those who are pro-capital ships... There would be plenty of likes and comments. And I will personally enjoy it. That is the most important thing. 😤 ... 🤣🤣🤣 Joking. 👍
I find it very weird how fast the small Hiigaran survivor population turned into a galactic power. Just 300 years of growth should not have let them even settle Hiigara properly. And I do not see their culture surviving immigration.
If only they put more work into a long campaign and they didn’t demand everything, including my firstborn, in the damn terms of service. Theres other issues, but those two keep me from being interested.
Considerong the Kharak homefleet only had about a half a million people settling Hiigara at the end of HW 1, wouldnt the Hiigarans be a minority? How do they and thier kiths have so mich power still?

While HW3 sucks, the legacy of the HW universe and Templin Institute do not. This was a really good one from you!
I miss the old days, when you paid to have the game, not the right to play on it until the developer decided otherwise.
I still have the CDs for Homeworld, Cataclysm, and Homeworld 2...
"Are we the baddies now?" XD
You should do the federation from Rick and Morty
That was Kiith Paaktu’s sigil btw, not Naabal’s
Beast war reference woooo
I think the Progenitors would've been something better than what HW3 served. Or some other ancient & forgotten danger.
It's too bad Sajuuk and the Progenitor Dreadnought weren't in Homeworld 3, and they didn't eve bother explaining why.
Let the pain remain
cool story :)
Thumbs up for the beast slayers.
MORE!!!
Does Hiigara feels like story off the exodus to anyone?.
Battlestar Galactica anyone?
Oh, another thing. Since it's the "Homeworld week", you can possibly make a video of "Building your Battlegroup" about making an Hiigaran Navy battle group... It would be fun. Between those who are pro-strike crafts and those who are pro-capital ships... There would be plenty of likes and comments.
And I will personally enjoy it. That is the most important thing. 😤 ... 🤣🤣🤣 Joking. 👍
"The Hiigaran Empire"
"federal republic"
huh?
"The United Kingdom"
"Parliamentary Republic"
Keep up.
I find it very weird how fast the small Hiigaran survivor population turned into a galactic power. Just 300 years of growth should not have let them even settle Hiigara properly. And I do not see their culture surviving immigration.
This almost sounds like the helghast from killzone
nice
"Empire"
And here we have done -180- 360 on Taiidan.
Homeworld had indeed made sure that both player choices in HW 1 are canon:D
May the burden remain.
Shame HW3 does not live up to the history.
So it’s earth? Or is this another universe?
Can anyone estimate the empires population?
How much are you charging for an ad like this one?
If only they put more work into a long campaign and they didn’t demand everything, including my firstborn, in the damn terms of service.
Theres other issues, but those two keep me from being interested.
Considerong the Kharak homefleet only had about a half a million people settling Hiigara at the end of HW 1, wouldnt the Hiigarans be a minority? How do they and thier kiths have so mich power still?
Assimilating smaller peoples into the Empire?
That's a nice world salad.
Wow.
I'm sorry, but could one not call the Empire a Syndicalist state? Kiiths seem very squinty-similar to trade unions.
They function in lore more like Guilds then Trade Unions.
Like this video only if you are a true Hiigangsta.
May the burden remain!
So the Taidan are human?
Hmm technically all the major powers are humanoid. Hiigaran, Taiidan, Vaygr, even the Bentuis is probably humanoid, but that has not been confirmed.
@@PraetorPaktu they are human. just watch the Desert's og Kharak
@@3455Renato ah, translation error. When I mean human I am talking about humans from earth. Humanoid are humans, but not from earth.
Kinda need to have a differing word to understand in a galactic context. Something I have learned from worldbuilding.
@@PraetorPaktu turians are humanoids, that doesn't make them connected to humans.
The word you were supposed to use was humans, not humanoids.
@@TheArklyte i think you are misunderstanding what i said.
Woah
Mothership...
Paramount+ ahhhhhh story line in 3
Homeworld 1 was originally conceived as a game of Battlestar Galaxtica. So if someone turned Homeworld into a series we really could say that all of this has happened before, and all of it will happen again
Babe, wake up...
Your snoring...
Wish the game had the quality of these videos. It does not even qualify as mediocre, its straight up a lazy release. Maybe hire Templin Institute to make the narrative if your game interesting?
👍🙂
Man the campaign story is so bad 😔 .
