- I didn't even fully understand what it was when I bought it. I went to the storage locker auction hoping to pick up a nice unit or two right before Christmas 2018. I couldn't quite figure out this unit, as it was a tangled mess, but the pedicure chairs up front looked like they could be big money.
I pulled the trigger and bought it. But WOWZA there was so much more stuff than I knew. An entire salon business had been squeezed in there!

I am watching this 3 years after you posted it and I have to tell you, Jack, your physical trans formation is amazing! Seeing the transformation slowly over the time it took to happen was amazing in itself, but to look back at an old video really frames the difference. You were already a nice looking young man (I'm an old lady so this is just a grandmotherly observation) and today 3 years later you are also a healthy looking young man. Fantastic work, Jack!

That sewing machine is a beauty! That's old, too. It probably started life as a treadle and had a motor added. That mechanism that swings in an arc (it holds the bobbin thread) was later replaced with stationary round bobbins. What a nice machine! The fact that you had the manuals with it makes it extra special.

when you test run any sewing machine, lift the foot pedal lever ` and loosen the end where the wheel is, so the needle doesn't go up and down when you press on the foot pedal.

I have never seen an electric singer sewing machine with that distinct look. Only the ones that operate manually. Very nice find.

See if you can donate old luggage to an agency that serves Foster Children. Much more dignified than carrying rubbish bags around from home to home. We make sure all our kids have a suitcase before they leave.
Anna Ponting - In a thread on Reddit, a user (who was eventually adopted by his foster parents) wrote about the impact it had on him when his future parents gave him a suitcase. I’ve never thought of donating old luggage to orphans or foster children, but it’s a fantastic idea!
Donate luggage only if it is in great shape without stains, broken closures or zippers. Foster kids do NOT need feel they are getting other people’s trash. Same for books clothing etc. second hand is great, but if you wouldn’t use it yourself please don’t give it to a child who is already feeling lost and undervalued!
The ladder paid for the locker! I do ceramics and I make these trees with music boxes in the base.
Wow! The Singer is amazing! Singer introduced electric machines in 1921, so this may be one of the first. You can track a machine via it's serial number and get the scoop in that particular one. Some go for as high as $500

I have the same sewing machine in the case it was my grandmother's, the only difference is mine has a light on it and I have the manual.

For the age of the Singer go to a site called date my Singer. It's full of info. I have one similar but has reg bobbin. They sell for less than $60. here.

My husband's sewing machine like that is an older hand crank one. It has a golden eagle or a golden pheonix on it. I forget which. It is beautiful though!
The really nice ones like that sewing machine & my husband can sell for $2-300. None of them are worth much unfortunately.
We obviously know 'trying to sell for prices' on eBay do not mean a thing but there is 1 one on eBay that looks exactly like yours. It is not yet sold though because it is $3,599 plus $100 shipping.

That white thing that you are asking the lady about looks like a VE for nail dryers looks like it has a light in it and I think that little thing blows air down I could be wrong but I think that’s what it is they’re about $275
I've never seen a sewing machine with a bobbin that's moves in a horizontal arc like that.
If I’m not mistaken my mom’s old treadle Singer sewing machine did that. Of course that was so many years ago and that machine is long gone.

I noticed that the bobbin in the sewing machine was threaded. You shouldn't run a machine without a spool of thread and cloth under the pressure foot.

You missed out big time selling that for so little Especially with the original wooden case!!.. some of the original machines go for thousands of £'s... if yours was from the 1940s. .. eek! 😮

You trimmed your beard looks good.
