One of the cleanest drummers on UA-cam!
Eetu Mellin On kyl vitun kova epeli
Yep he washes every day. Lol
I remember I was obsessed with this song when it came out and could never figuire out how Gene Hoglan played the beat in the verse and the variations lol So fucking cool see it finally and with precision
I thought the same thing. I was sure Gene hoglan was the only human who could play this. Crazy too see it covered. This kid isn't human
It's called bridging I think.. Keeping your left food on the left double bass peddle as well as the hi-hat. First time I saw this technique was through Matt Gartska.
"It's called bridging I think.. Keeping your left..."
That's one way, sure. Thing is, the Atomic Clock himself has a different, much more difficult way of executing these drum parts than Wilfred. Because Gene has a genuine old school double kick set up , with old school drum pedals no less, he doesn't have the luxury of pedal bridging. I suspect, therefore, that nearly all of the driving bass drum notes are done SOLELY with his right foot, pounding out all of them in succession, with the left foot occasionally filling in the blanks during the blast beat chorus. It's the only practical way I can see to get the left foot working the hi-hat during the main verses with Gene's kit. Why they call what Wilfred has a "cheater pedal" on single bass drum kits...
Dude you have the best "feel" of any drummer covering this song!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Fucking sick dude. Most definitely my favorite track off of The New Black.
You are an amazing player man! I've watched this video many times.
Best play through I have seen. My jaw is on the floor. Subscribed.
I was so ready to call out the hi hat work but you fucking nailed it. It's also possible to do with one kick (the second verse) if you can't get the pedals close enough, but calf muscle endurance required.
Your interpretation does have a few differences to the original, but who cares man? Your playing is freaking unbelievable. If you're not in a killer band, you should be!
Not one drummer on youtube plays it like the original. Yet, they all are masters at drumming. Why hasn't this got a millions of views?
@@thefirsttheist8888 came here to say this

Fuckin A+
Well shit my ball as call me Norman. This was clean as fuck.
Damn good control my dude. How long did it take you to learn this song and get it nailed down? This is seriously great man!
Finally someone did it in the right way. One question:
-around 1'46'': may be didi you change something? I remembera ride bell in a strange position..did add the snare roll, didn't it?
Thanks a lot.
Yep, it's missing at 2:58 too. This is still the most accurate cover so far, but everyone who figured out the verse can't get that weird bell in the blast parts or vice versa. Gene Hoglan really is an insane player.
@@HessianHunter It's strange, since we'are talking about a quiet extreme metal sound, but the accuracy of these drum groove almost let me cry (...I don't do it with ballads, ahahahahahahahah)...may be you know some transcription of this ?
@@francescotorrigiani5386 I am not aware of any attempts to transcribe this song for drums. As far as I can tell, this cover is accurate except for missing those bell hits on the 4th 16th note of each beat.
More Devin Townsend or Strapping young lad!!!
What double pedal are you using? And your kick technique is pretty clean!
Wilfred, what kind of double-kick pedal are you using?
I noticed when you are playing the bomb blast sections with your left hand on the snare, you almost entirely use the fingers with little to no wrist to get that speed on the snare. I've been trying do that, relearning all the rudiments using just my fingers, but its really painful.
Dustin Detton Yea but mixing compensates for power. You can hear the volume drop a bit, and when a set is miced with post, like the triggered kick, you can use your fingers because you are going for notes and strikes not power. You can boost the volume in post to compensate for volume drop with speed.
🤘🤘🤘👍👍🤜🤜
