- "Oggi è Venerdì," translated as "Today is Friday," encapsulates the essence of Senese's musical prowess and his undying passion for innovation, a vibrant, upbeat rhythm that immediately captures the listener's attention. Senese's saxophone performance is both energetic and soulful, setting the tone for the rest of the album.
Born Gaetano Senese on January 6, 1945, in Naples, Italy, James Senese's musical journey began in the culturally rich and diverse environment of post-war Naples. His father, an African American soldier, and his mother, a native Neapolitan, provided him with a unique blend of cultural influences that would later shape his musical style. Senese started his career in the 1960s, gaining recognition as a member of the pioneering band Napoli Centrale. This group was crucial in the development of the Neapolitan Power movement, which sought to blend traditional Neapolitan music with jazz, funk, and progressive rock.

Lyrics
Today is Friday
The sea is blue
And you’re black, black
With that tanga
Going down
I feel an extra warmth
Inside me
The pressure goes on
O my God
Today is Friday
Yes, it’s Friday
Women on the move
Sand on the skin
Stardust
O my God
But the sound of modesty
Back to the wall
Angel lying in the sun
Sensations
Today is Friday
Tell me who you are
I jump the wall and then
I take your breath away
Every Friday
Latin soul
Is she South American
Or from Mergellina?
But who are you?
African Lazarus girl
What a weird girl
Get up and walk
For me
Those lips are music, you know
Those legs stretched out in the sun
It’s the music that cheers me up
More up, more up
I’ll get you
Yeah, I’ll get you
And I’ll make you
What I want
Every Friday
