Just binged on most of your videos, styles right up my street. Loved the previous bar/fork combo though. Made me want to start my own build. Well done sir!
Just bought a Specialized Rockhopper to commute to work, off the strength of your videos. I love it. But i found out very early, the stem was way too long. I was in pain riding it. Upgraded it, new bars, stem etc. Love it now. But im heading down the slippery sloap of buying parts. 😂
Keep doing what you’re doing mate 🤙🏼.. always enjoy your weekly videos, started building my own bikes when I was 15, just over 20 year ago and I still learn little tricks off your videos now..
Bike looks sweet and i do wish i cud have joined the crusty Cruze, lookes like it was a great day out... Shame im a bit far away lol... Do hope it becomes your yearly thing. 👍
I'm still convinced that the problem with the rear wheel is probably not that the wheel is out of dish. when i saw how you and marlon unstuck the seatpost without a rearwheel or hub in the frame it is quite possible that you bend the rear triangle of the frame. i had a frame with a stuck seatpost and used the same method to get it out. althoug i put and old hub in the rear triangle i managed to bend the frame slightly. you realy should check the frame aligment.
Nice build! There would be a few changes if I did this, but not many! love the forks especially, as an older MTBer coming back to the sport after 30-odd years the stuff we did on fully rigid MTBs was wild and we had massive FUN! I took a 1991 MTB (with the classic GS with the 7/8 spd "future-proofed" deore thumbies) on the trails the other day & had a great time, and the bike is working PERFECTLY still, no wheel wobble, and the cantilever brakes stopped me fine
I just finished building up a Trek 750 that’s all black & white themed and I’m kinda into clear vinyl stickers with white lettering. So maybe a run of clear stickers with white and/or black lettering?
Used a pit bike handlebar with the bolt on crossbrace removed. Need a shim to go in a retro quill stem 22.2 to 25.4 mm. Rolled the bars back untill just past level and they look n feel good. Bar and shim cost about £25.
Steel wool and wd40 work great for removing rust and rust spots. The bars on my fixed gear bike are identical to those old mtb ones, after a quick rub with steel wool and wd they look like new.
Whats the weld in the center of the handlebar? It seems crazy to me to weaken a stem right at the most stressed point where the stem grabs it by having those welds there, making the material softer, introducing stresses and removing any prior hardening that came through heat treating or cold rolling. Whats the point of it?
Sweet build, Love it!!! Those forks are AMAZING! Are those Juice Lubes stickers common out there? They don't have that style sticker in the US just the round one. do you have a link maybe?
Always makes me cringe when a star nut gets hammered in with a bolt wound into it, sure way of damaging the threads on the star nut. Much better to use a blind tool like the Park one that sits on the main body of the star nut. 👍

nice parts from indonesia, that rusty ritchey stem adds the personality of the bike
I would have soaked stem in evaporust overnight

Sweet looking bike my friend. Love the handlebars keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
Craig, I think you bent the rear triangle, probably when you was getting the old seatpost out. Just my thoughts.
