Love the Keeper of the Pins finishes. You’re right in that you can never have too many Brenda Gervais patterns! Good luck with your fair entries. They are all so beautiful! Happy stitching!
Congratulations on so many stellar finishes qualifying for the State Fair. Wishing you lots of luck - and a judging panel who appreciate the quality of your work. I know nothing about quilts - but just love your Witches night out. Such a fun design.
Wonderful stitching and quilting for your State Fair entries. Thank you so much for the shout out. I greatly appreciate it. Take care and hope to see you soon.
Finally got to catch up with you tonight Karen. The Olympics are playing havoc with my Flosstube watching. Thankfully the Irish are doing really well this year so it's great fun watching. We still have a few more medal hopes this coming week. Best of luck with your projects in the fair. I hope Jane, in particular, does really well. The quilt looks great. Love your pillows, they look great together. Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪
I just love your projects . We seem to have similar taste. Ive been stitching for 40 years and am so in love with these new designers. Good luck at the Fair.
Karen your entries for the State Fair are gorgeous !!! Your stitching entries are so lovely. Your quilting is so fun on your Halloween quilt. Wishing you much success !!!
Love your videos. I have been watching Laurel for several months now. Started at the beginning and have been current for several videos. She is great and has lots of wonderful projects. I hope your viewers will go watch her (after they watch you, of course! 😂😂). I can’t wait to see your finish of the Smith Sampler. It is so pretty!
Happy to know that you watch Laurel too. She is a sweetie. I appreciate your comment on Smith Sampler. I am loving it. See you again next time. Best, K
New viewer here from the UK. I loved seeing your gorgeous entries for your State Fair! We don't have them here (obviously!) but there are country fairs and county shows - we have counties not states! Lovely mix of quilting and cross stitch. I've done a few quilts and getting back into the cross stitch after many years - how things have progressed on in terms of linens and flosses - amazing! I am avidly collecting charts and supplies for when I retire - a couple years off (!) and have no shortage of fabric for new quilts plus several that require finishing - oh well they will come into the light again at some point. Very best of luck with your entries.
Welcome to my channel. I am so happy that you enjoyed what you saw. Yes, we have counties and states. It doesn't always translate well. I loved hearing that you are preparing for retirement. Never too soon. Get all you can. Happy stitching. Best, K
Love all your entries for the fair! I vote first prize for each. Wouldn't that be great! My late sister entered in fairs every year with quilts and paintings. Never failed to earn ribbons. I made Witch's Night Out a few years ago. Never quilted it. You have reminded me to get it done. Such a cute pattern. Best of luck with your entries.
I am happy to be an enabler to encourage you to finish up Witch's Night Out. Thank you for your well wishes on my fair entries. Happy stitching. Best, K
Hello Karen The Smith sampler is beautiful I love the border a great piece. As always beautiful quilts. Best of luck with your entries they are awesome. Happy stitching
I enjoyed your video very much. Love all your stitched pieces and love, love, love your “Witches Night Out” quilt. You are so talented to be able to do all that quilting and stitching. Love watching your videos.
Your finished Brenda Gervais pillows turned out beautifully. Love all the things you're submitting for the fair, and I hope you bring home gold in all the events. Take care, and happy stitching/quilting.
Hi Karen, all your pieces for the fair are first places finishes in my book ! Thanks for the update on all your stitching and sewing. I'm waiting for my sewing machine to be fixed so I can start seeing again! Happy fair, sewing and stitching! Lori
Lori, Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my Fair entries. Fingers crossed. I would hate to have my machine in the sewing machine hospital. Hope there is nothing serious wrong. Happy stitching. Best, K
Hi Karen, love your finishes of the keeper of the pins!!! Love how you quilted your Halloween quilt!! I think you will come home with a lot of blue ribbons because your stitching is beautiful and so is your quilting!!
Hi, Karen! You have beautiful finishes! I hope one day after a lot of practice that my finishes will look that nice. I enjoyed the visit. Happy stitching! ☺️🪡
Thank you so much for your compliment on my finishes. That is certainly not my favorite part of the process. I am always trying to improve. Happy stitching. Best, K
OMG! Your submissions to the Fair are gorgeous...especially Jane Hopkins. That should be a blue ribbon winner, in my opinion :) Good luck. I'm also a quilter and love your quilts. Do you think you might give us a peek at your sewing room some day? I'm always looking for ideas.
Your State Fair entries are fabulous. Love that quilt, Orange and Halloween is my jam. Jane Hopkins and Maria, and all the Blackbirds are beautiful, and that is a terrific Prairie Schooler with all the animals. Great progress on all your stitching.🎉
Loved seeing your entries for the State Fair. Wishing you the best of luck with all your entries. I bought the pattern for Jane Hopkins after seeing your finish. The Smith Sampler may have to be the next one I look for.
Thank you so much! I am happy to have been an enabler for your stitching pleasure. It was a thrill to see Jane come to life as I worked on her. See you again next time. Best, K
Hello, Karen. I love your completed Keeper of the Pins bowl of goodness. I need to finish the remaining pieces as well. Everything looks great for your fair entries. I am sure you will do well. Thanks for keeping me company. I worked on my start of Garden Sampler by Carriage House Samplings. Take care, my friend.
Good luck at your fair. Did the categories I read sound anything like the ones for your fair? Happy to know that you are sharing your stitching with a wide audience. I think that is important. Happy stitching. Best, K
Good luck on your fair entries. I love them all. Especially, the flower vase one, can't remember the name of it though. The Halloween quilt is beautiful. 🎃🕷🕸
Anna Ohman border was too much for me so I repeated the top borders on the bottom. I love the pattern as is but it was lingering for too long. I love the colors of your Smith Sampler, it’s beautiful. Your quilt is gorgeous and thanks for sharing your tips on the batting and blocking the binding. Your state fair entries are very impressive. ❤Can you tell I really enjoyed this episode ?😊
I am happy to know that you enjoyed the video. I agree that the border on Anna Ohman is challenging. I will persevere. I appreciate your comment on my fair entries. See you again next time. Best, K
Hi! Oh yes your mountain mist and dmc look so the same! Looks great❤ oh I did that tomato free pattern as a drum. My first drum and so far my only. It turned out great but lol for some reason I sprained my thumb doing it! Lol oh everything is great! And love the fair items, you should get a ribbon on each!❤❤ and love the quilt! Good luck!
I didn't mean to laugh at your sprained thumb, but non-sewers don't appreciate the dangers of sewing. It's almost as bad as working in the kitchen. See you again next time. Best, K
@@recoveringmonogamousstitch1947 oh lol it was bad, really sore in between the thumb and finger even-a bruise, guess I was determined to make it strong, lol
Hi Karen! You remembered right! I copied Macey. Thank you for shouting out Laurel. She is amazing, and I’d love to see her get more subscribers. Have fun with the fair!
Kim, Thanks so much for your comment. I am on a serious hunt for a round finish for Amelia's Bird. Yours really inspired me. See you again next time. Happy stitching. Best, K
Good luck with your state fair entries. I dropped my sampler off today. Judging is next week. Then we find out if it is accepted. If it is we are not told what ribbon it won. We have to go to the fair to find out.
Kathy, In KY, there are a few disqualifiers, but other than those, all entries are 'accepted.' Like you, we have to go to the fair to find out the results. It is interesting to hear about the differences in state fairs. I appreciate you sharing with me your experience in NY. Happy stitching. Best, K
Susan, Thank you so much for your comment. I don't know why you aren't entering anything. I'll continue needling you about that. Maybe next year you will succumb. Happy Stitching. Best, K
Beautiful stitching. Last year, I entered things in our fair, and won ribbons on all five. I've decided not to enter this year. It's a bit of a drive from my home, and the lines for drop off and pick up were extremely long waits. I may do it again if I move, but I'm skipping this year. I hope you win lots of ribbons!
I know that it is a pain to drop off entries and pick up, but I am still willing to persevere. Maybe another year will work out for you. Happy stitching. Best, K
Thanks for asking. You didn't miss it. The winner never got back to me, so the opportunity was missed. Couldn't draw another name because the deadline was so close. Sad. Thank you for your comment on my fair entries. See you again next time. Best, K
I can’t wait to see all your ribbons from the state fair!! Your work is just gorgeous. I appreciate your sharing the details of how you square up your quilts. It isn’t easy to do. I have found a counting error in my current cross-stitch project. I am a perfectionist and it bothers me even though it isn’t full coverage and no one else would notice. I don’t know whether to keep stitching or start ripping. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks so much for sharing. I always enjoy your videos.
I have always lived by the philosophy of "Fix your mistakes." I have let it slide in a few of my cross stitch projects, however. If my error won't cause anything else to be wrong in the piece, I let it go (like a branch in a tree). If I need to count off that stitch and it will snowball the error, I frog it. I have taken out a surprising amount of stitching in some of my projects. It is a judgement call. Do what will make your heart happy. Best, K
Would you mind to share your DMC changes for the sewing bird? It looks terrific! The Mountain Mist I have doesn’t have much variation, so that has stopped me from starting. Loved seeing all your stitching and good luck with your fair entries!
The lighter color is 523, the darker color is 3052. When I looked in my DMC color book, there might have been a better choice for the dark, but I didn't have it on hand. I am satisfied with the way it worked out. Enjoy your stitching. Best, K

I’m amused by your finesse in chair rolling! This could be a new Olympic sport (synchronized chair rolling). Good luck in the fair!

Interesting. That is not a requirement in KY. You can just enter your item. Thanks for sharing that information. Happy stitching. Best, K
