My late Mom tore our beds down every spring, made us haul them outside on a porch that got morning and midday sun, had us take brooms and beat the mattresses, then left them to cure in the sun. Wiped the bed frames down and washed the bed slats and let them dry. After everything was cleaned, wiped down and dried, everything was put back together. Made the bed smell so fresh.

Exactly!! Cold not warm water!! And don't dab and push the stain into the fabric and stuffing or cushion! Should rub in a circular motion and dab with a dry cotton cloth to pull the soapy water and stain OUT of the fabric.
You see yellow on the mattress because you set the stain with warm water!!! And you pushed the salad dressing into the mattress cover.
Also in regards to bed pillows, covering them with a cotton zippered pillow protector and then a pillow case will keep you pillows cleaner longer.

Yes another way to make people buy mattresses more often. I have been married 59 years. Flipping mattresses was great. Rotating a mattress is gross as my husbands feet are then by my head. Now I love him but he sleeps on his and I sleep on my side and hate to think what I’m sleeping on even. Leaned its friends or motels. Even his head sweats and I don’t kay on his side. But I use baking soda plus I’m used corn starch on wet mattress or especially on cleaned carpet pet stains. The corn starch sucks up the residual urine tgat went into the carpet and pad. It had turned yellow or darker and very hard and you need to use a spoon to scrape off and also then vacuum. My mom taught me this 60 years ago. Just amazed at what you think is a cleaned carpet. Good video.

He also recommended to use it on your carpet. Spread it and after an hour you vacuum it up. Another way to cut down allergens is to put half a cup of Borax in your wash where you put the bleach. He was a microbiologist. Unfortunately, he died rather young (43) in a motorcycle accident on vacation. But he was brilliant at removing mold and allergens from a house.

I assure you, I made my big money off of mold and mildew problems from poor construction by developers (I'm an attorney) and my mold experts always recommended chlorine and the removal of the source of moisture from hard surfaces like tile, wood (unless you had string rot) and many other surfaces. If the drywall was wet, we had to cut one to two feet above the moisture line and discard it. If it's soft furniture, you might have to throw it out, especially mattresses. But hard surfaces only require a chlorine solution. We used to clean a carpet and then retest for mold. However, mold won't grow without a source of moisture. In California, many builders used greenboard in the wet areas inside the baths and showers. It was only rated for moist areas, not wet areas. We would remove a tile and find Staychybotros almost every time. They used greenboard until they started getting sued in the early nineties for doing so. The manufacturers of greenboard have never recommended it for wet areas, so the builders paid out their noses for going cheap in the bathrooms by using greenboard instead of backerboard.

I was also one that was sucked in by many of the commercialized ways & learned to live with them even though they didn't work near as well as "old fashion" natural ways! Now I am going back to natural ways, thanks to you Andrea Jean!
One question- would it be better to create your baking soda & vinegar/water/alcohol into a paste & then apply it to the stains? I also like to brush the dried baking soda concoction with a cleaning brush & then vacuum - not re-wetting the stained area. What do you think?

To get the essential oil out of the container, turn the bottle clockwise until the oil drops come. There is a certain spot on the little dispenser where the oil can seep out.

Hi Andrea, I;m not sure if you are aware but if you have a stain, the idea is to put baking soda on it when the stain is wet and the soda will lift the stain out as it dries and then you vacuum it.

Great job. I used my carpet cleaner to clean my mattress because I make my own solution using hot water, tide, odorban and fabric softener. I will add this disclaimer it takes a good 4-6 hours for your mattress to dry completely. Also I recommend putting the mattress on the floor so you can apply more pressure. 🤷🏽‍♀️ anyway it works for me. Great video. Thanks for sharing ❤️
