Hands down you are my favourite sailing channel. I’m a new subscriber so I’ve watched all of your videos in a relatively short time, and what catches me is your steady growth of the quality of videos you are posting. Added to that you are a lovely couple, really down to earth therefore you don’t need to add any of the extras to get subscribers. I am hooked.
You started out making videos of Florence & your travels but, as your films guide us toward the end of this circumnavigation, you’ve become documentary makers. Love your stuff.
You must've watched a different video than I saw. Beating, banging, and upbeat nerve-wracking during the race. I'm not a fan of the noise. I would much rather hear the actual sound of sailing and life. IMHO, they missed the beat this week. 😅
Brilliant video as usual guys! We’ve been to the Bahamas 9 times on our boat (from Louisiana). Some of the most beautiful waters in the world. And wonderful people. So glad you did not miss it!
Hi guys, I’ve been watching your channel for a long time now and I think this would have to be the one of the best videos that you have done and one of the best places you have visited. I’m just overjoyed with what I’ve just seen. Thank you very much for sharing. The drone footage was incredible. Thank you once again keep up the good work. Love your videos Cliff from Logan city Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 from the big island 🏝️
I have an idea to share with you. While I am in total agreement with all the compliments already expressed I wonder if you would consider filming a conversation between the two of you. It might be difficult to keep it from looking rehearsed or staged, but if done well, I think you would be offering something new in the sailing channel space. Perhaps a reminiscing about the day over sundowners or while eating dinner. Perhaps a discussion of where to go tomorrow or next week. Maybe a short list of projects and prioritizing them. I am sure your creative minds will overflow with ideas. In any case at the very least, please keep up the great work, and I hope this is a never-ending Cruise.
Outstanding presentation of the joy of sailing the Bahamas ... I reminisce my time floating there. Terrific videography and editing ... you guys have found your true calling. Thanks for sharing!
Are there any rules in this race? It didn't look like starboard had much right of way and no penalty after what we would consider a violation. Maybe the object is to disqualify a competitor by running them down? Just the same, a beautiful experience you shared and it looked like all was well in the end.
Another lovely video both of you. As you’ve travelled you have developed a great way of filming the events and local culture that are a pleasure to watch. Safe passage back.
By the time these comments reach you, you'll be half way home. I have loved watching your amazing adventure. The video you shot in Africa will go down in history. Love you both. Stay safe enjoy your families.
Run out of superlatives for your video making .. stunning drone footage sweeping low over the island … piecing together the regatta shots was made to look so easy but can imagine the work involved and of course as always the music absolutely spot on … cant picture you back in the UK doing the Saturday morning Tesco run in the grey cold drizzle ..
Long time subscriber here. You guys are, bar none, the best, most proficient sailing UA-camrs out there. Wouldn’t dream of missing an episode. That’s why I beg you, PLEASE don’t head North on your next trip! Every sailing UA-camr out there has done the North. There’s NOTHING left for your viewers to see. As a retired Canadian Navy sailor I’ve seen more of the North than I ever want to see again. I even lived North of 80° for 6 months! If you want to go to a cold place consider going South.
Wherever they choose to sail. Their sail adventure will be uniquely theirs and how they tell their story. I'm with them for the adventure wherever they choose to go.
This is a tough episode to watch. One of the reasons that I watch SYF (and several other sailing channels) is to curate our list of places to visit when we sail around the world. The problem, the around-the-world boat we just bought needs nearly 9 feet under her. The Bahamas are really difficult for deeper draft boats. The Bahamas should use this video as part of their tourism marketing. It sure makes me want to visit, BAD.
HI! 1. Fishing for food, is that a reasonable thing? 2. What is the top speed you have reached? 3. Burglars/Pirates/Corrupt police or Customs officers trying to extort for bribes? or similar experiences?
I don’t know about the UK, but where I am Dinghy racing seems to be growing as well. Most clubs have some form of summer camp, staffed by High School Sailors with Instructor Certifications and Boating Licenses. Every weeknight club race from lasers to keelboats normally has high schoolers and even some middle schoolers as crew or skippers (In the case of dinghies). Some regional professional events like Screwpile and Governor’s Cup even have young people crewing, and are local events in a similar albeit smaller way like the Bahama regattas. It’d be interesting to see what areas are growing and which are shrinking, but at least around me sailing is still going strong! Also great video, this one was a real treat, and the contrast in atmosphere between the serene deserted islands and lively regattas was very well done. Fair winds, -J
Great last stay on the Bahamas. Great weather fun race great Pirates of the Caribbean island. Now Bermuda bound. Safe sail . Those iguana's were awesome.
I like your guys' style more so than most of the other cruising channels. This is shot more like a Travel Channel show, and less like a couple trying to humble-brag about their lifestyle. Also, this is how I would travel if/when I do it myself someday.
Thanks to your drone-captured race start, I've seen at least two mast to mast collisions without a dismasting! I'm betting you didn't compile this video on the way to the Azores! I just love your musical scores! They so nicely set the mood for the video it accompanies. It all adds up to perfection!
Its a shame your videos are so delayed. You've missed a lot of advice. We've lived in Florida 44 years and seen George Town and the regattas often. You should have spent 6 months in The Bahamas. You missed the Cruisers regatta there in late Feb or Mar. George Town is a big adult day care for cruisers.
I'm also a new subscriber - started by watching your great how-to video on the asymmetrical spinnaker as mine has not seen action in 8 years. I've watched a heap of your old videos in the past month or so and am getting itchy feet. Hope the Atlantic passage goes well. From Byron Bay Australia
I subscribed to your channel several years ago because I thought the quality of your videos was good. It has definitely gotten better over the years. Those shots of the racing were great! The rest of the episode was great also.
I must say I agree with the 2 comments below. The quality of your presentations is astounding, considering the conditions under which you work. Well done and thanks for a great lively and interesting episode. Camera work and editing is one of the best, if not the best in this genre.
Wow, looks amazing. Hopefully I am counting down to cruising there in 3 years time!! Hope you are having a safe N Atlantic crossing! Most demanding part me thinks....
As a long time sailor of dinghies and keel boats it is a perception (at least in Australia) that is incorrect. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for new crew. My assumption is sailing clubs are often behind gates and walls but this is due to security not exclusivity.
Keep creating, no matter what you decide to do once you arrive home. :) I'm heading out to do this in a few years and your videos are a strange dichotomy. They tide me over until I'm capable of setting off, but at the same time, they make me so impatient!
As someone who has sailed in the Bahamas, but just missed this regatta, I greatly appreciate your coverage of this event. And as usual, you have the best videography of any sailing channel out there! I'm trying to spread the word as best I can to get your views up. Looking forward to all your future voyages. 😀
I've been following your journey for about a year and eagerly await a new chapter. I am fortunate in that I live in the Bahamas and everything you say about the sailing is true and more.
I’m from the USA, but when sailors come through the Bahamas and talk about it being the most beautiful place they’ve sailed in the world. I feel a sense of pride that these water are so close to us. 😀 A fabulous video! Your story telling, editing, and videography is so good! Please don’t stop when you get home. 😊
Been watching your videos for a long time and have often wondered where/what your adventures might evolve once you have finished your circumnavigation of our earth. I’m wondering if you have considered teaching? Without question you have the credentials. Just thinking. BTW, your footprints did not mess up the beach…or the earth on your spectacular adventure. Well done, Matthew and Amy. Well done. Thank you for sharing.
I’m sure you will pick your course and winds well going home. In the early 90’ my wife & I + baby son sailed from Azores to Ireland under the guidance of Herb, Southbound II giving us wind & weather over SSB, he had us sailing directly north then turn right into Southern Ireland under wonderful sailing conditions, not the usual bash to windward, safe sailing Florence.
Matt and Amy. We are so privileged to say we have shared anchorages with the best sailing channel on the internet. We can't wait for the latest videos to come out, especially the Night of White. I hope this inspires you! It will be epic tonight, and epic film makers will be here! ❤❤
I have been watching you guys each week and am fond of Oyster as I had a 485 for 20 years! This video has fabulous photography footage and you did an absolutely super job editing it ...congratulations. I think the Bahams tourist board should buy a copy as it it really shows off their island which actually never ipressed me ...but your video puts a new look at it. Congratulations and keep it up!
Yes, as always waiting in your wake for the big adventure home, and a huge celebration awaiting, I'm sure.! (by the way, just in case you're confused, there's been a change of name).
Magic video. My fortnightly delight. Of course you do realise that you will be creating a void in so many people’s lives once Florence has moored in Uk? 😂 A question - I never was able to find the first videos of you setting off on your nautical adventure. Is it available?
Beautiful, you guys have become the channel I look forward to the most, despite the strong competition. Is there a reason you don't release a new video every week (aside from the fact you do a lot more actual sailing than every other sailing channel)? That's a genuine question as well as a blatant hint from one of your loyal subscribers who'd love to give you a thumbs up twice as often😉

Love your stuff.
Another impressive video, beautiful scenery, and calming music. The race looked fun. :) Thank you. Watching from Queensland , Australia.
You must've watched a different video than I saw. Beating, banging, and upbeat nerve-wracking during the race. I'm not a fan of the noise. I would much rather hear the actual sound of sailing and life. IMHO, they missed the beat this week. 😅
Agree 💯, morning from Brisbane ❤

Great scenery, cool animals and a sailing race...you guys must have been in heaven
The only way to make it better would have been to be onboard racing! But then we wouldn't have been able to film at the same time.
I just want to say your editing and choice of accompanying music is some of the best work I’ve seen on you tube, fantastic video as always
The drone shot at 17:05 is 🔥
Best race coverage ever!
Must be Friday yahoo it Florence time

Such a magical place! Thanks for the great photography. Welcome home?
Your video is wonderful as usual! What a marvelous journey along the wind you've done aoround the 7 seas!
A great great video. Thanks Matt & Amy.

A huge thank you for another great video! ⛵🥰😃
What a wonderful video. Beautiful scenery and interesting places. Thank you for sharing your great sailing experiences.
Just love you guys....your videos are the best

This episode is definitely in the top five of all episodes of all the cruising folks I watch

Wow that looks like an amazing place 😮❤✊🏻🏴 how strong is the urge to just keep going?

I wish I was in the San Juans right now! The Pacific NW is an amazing destination as well.
Glad you stopped there beautiful .I love the Pirates' Movies, My son did computer animation on( At Worlds End ),the one where they filmed from there.

I LOVE the colors on your spinnaker! The shots with your new 360 cam is also great :D

Great content as always and another editing masterclass.
Absolutely great production. Thanks!
Love seeing the Bahamian traditional boat regatta! I have an Abaco dingy that was built on Man O War cay that's about the size of the C class boats
Another great video...thank you for sharing your journey with us. ❤
Really a wonderful video! Looking forward to seeing the coming videos of your journey home!
Wow, looks amazing. Hopefully I am counting down to cruising there in 3 years time!! Hope you are having a safe N Atlantic crossing! Most demanding part me thinks....
As usual another great quality video so beautiful!!!
I have to say, you have nailed video production....
Nice vid, but please stop saying "absolute(ly)"
Well Matt, you have to consider whether you are letting people into sailing. It’s a bit exclusive.
Huh?
As a long time sailor of dinghies and keel boats it is a perception (at least in Australia) that is incorrect. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for new crew. My assumption is sailing clubs are often behind gates and walls but this is due to security not exclusivity.
Fantastic footage. Thanks guys. All the best
Great show again, it’s the journey not the destination for sure…
Just when we think we have seen everything you take us to the heavenly views of Long Island and then to the spectacular regatta. Wonderful.
Keep creating, no matter what you decide to do once you arrive home. :)
I'm heading out to do this in a few years and your videos are a strange dichotomy. They tide me over until I'm capable of setting off, but at the same time, they make me so impatient!
Music that you use on your videos goes really well
Hey guys when do you use the spinicar usually
hope everything is gd and hope to see alot more video
Have you two considered sailing the Great Lakes of Canada and the USA? Five lakes, lots of history and culture.
BTW I love your updates and look forward to them.
why head to pommy land after that experience
best BRoll yet
well done
great show
cheers

The Bahamas are the best,. We are in Bermuday, probably crossing to Europe next week.
❤beautiful ⛵️
Must go thanks
Are you planning on stopping in Newfoundland? I live on the east coast! Stay safe and enjoy your travels! From the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦
I’m sure you will pick your course and winds well going home. Another outstanding episode. Fantastic use of the drone. Thanks guys.

It was wonderful to see footage of the traditional Bahamian sloops racing.
100% the best sailing channel. Great content and awesome editing.
Oi!!!! Luv ya m8s
Excellent vidio thank you very much.
Beautiful videography
Awesome episode as if each one isn’t! Cheers 🥂
Thanks. You folks are fabulous.
Skin Cancer!
I don’t think many of those people are getting skin cancer. Study it up. 😊
One of the best sailing channels.
Safe travels Matt and Amy!
