4:33 Minor correction, but since you guys made a point to explain this I thought it was worth pointing out: you don't actually get to choose. By default, the newest role stays and all the other ones fall off. You only get to choose which role to keep if an effect attaches multiple of your roles to a creature *at the same time* .
I would love to see the fetish carnival display more of its showmanship when we ever return to Ravnica by putting on a big play with roles!! Not to mention Black/Red enchantment-matters would be a very novel theme to see fleshed out!
Why would you want a guild mechanic that doesn't work with the old guild mechanics? There are enough other Magic sets to explore different sides of color pairs.
Highly recommend throwing On Serra’s wings into this deck. Only a 10-20 cent card too. Enchantment, aura, 4 cost for +1 + 1 and flying, vigilance, and life link. Put it on the commander, and she’s a force, and commander damage becomes a real concern.
34:00 The timing on Skybind is little tricky if you want Ellivere around for the combat phase for her 2nd line of text, but workable if careful! You would want to cast Skybind in the 2nd main phase, blink Ellivere but then her token ETB triggers Skybind again so you'd want to either 1) target another permanent (probably an opponent's) if you want Ellivere around for your next combat phase or 2) target Ellivere if you're more worried about an impending boardwipe. But given she's re-castable as your commander, maybe option 1 will be optimal more often as you also slow down your opponents - but you'd also need to save another enchantment ETB for the 2nd main phase each turn! *Insert Julia Roberts Maths meme*
Timberland Paladin is a BEAST! 1/3 auras is taken care of through Ellivere's virtous role. Getting 10/10 BASE p/t, and then counters, with trample and vigilance is well worth it. Throw reach or Flying on him and he's a force to be reckoned with for sure!
It is very good for a casual environment. At higher level tables, it's too much investment in a creature with no protection for it to be reliable lr consistent
@@nachoalfonso2614 i don't think it's too much investment. As stated, 1 aura is a 'free' token, 1 aura is a given for a creature in a deck like this. Only 1 aura is being 'overcommited'. Getting a 10/10 with good keywords for 2 mana is worth the minor risk if you ask me
I really appreciate the both of you giving the breakdown for this pre-con. I was able to preorder each deck for $32.50 from our LGS. Can't wait for the Faerie deck breakdown. Thank you for the video.
I like this precon because it allows me to have a go wide enchantress smasher deck, something that I haven't been able to do as I always have to do a voltron type strategies for these decks.
I started picking out cards for this deck as soon as I saw the face commander. Lots of enchantment creatures like humbler of mortals, forerunner of nylea, and Archetype of courage. I even included karametra (who provides a great ammount of ramp) and heliod (the one that makes more enchantment creatures). Boon of the spirit relm goes crazy in this deck.
Long time Kestia auras player and lover of enchantments with some more recommendations! - Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice: great cheap creature, synergises with aura EtBs. - Sythis, Harvest's Hand: a far better Sram that draws from all enchantment casts, and is an enchantment. - Danitha, New Benalia's Light: aura recursion is important, and also holds auras well. - Resurgent Belief: honestly, waiting 2 turns for this isn't bad, and at 2 mana you can play it proactively. - Spirit Mantle: cheap unblockable aura. - Out of Time: cheap board wipe on an enchantment. Also phases out, so your creatures still have their auras if it's removed. - Pattern of Rebirth: makes people not want to remove your scary creature, and provides a backup if they do. Cards like this and One with the Kami that help you keep board presence are really good! - Sigil of the Empty Throne: maybe a bit slow, but 4/4 fliers will do well with your commander's buffing role tokens. - Eldrazi Conscription: if you want to go big! Putting some more in a reply to this for anyone who wants to read on!
@@SupremeChalupaSnoke thanks :) Yeah, I've found it really quite nice. There's also Guardian of Faith, which isn't an enchantment, but is a creature, so synergises in that other way (also has flash, which is a big help).

On the subject of the Timber Paladin, building him up like Voltron was precisely how I won my last game lmao. Ended up with a 34/34 Timber Paladin with flying, lifelink, trample, vigilance, first strike, and indestructible.
I kept Giant Inheritance in my list because I added some more ways to make tokens consistently and being able to make a 1/1 into 7/7 with trample is pretty good.
Hear me out: Cadira, Caller of the Small - 3 mana 3/3 natural trample that curves into a 4/4 with an aura attached to it off the commander that makes minimum 1 rabbit when it connects and thats the absolute floor - it goes up from there. Plus the rabbit tokens are cute
Hi, I am new to Magic. But I got this deck and have played it a couple of times. I know you said don’t make it voltron… but I did that and I did some damage … didn’t win.. but I was competitive. Which is a good outcome for a newbie like me. Now suppose I want make Ellevere a Death Star … I have decided to get Nylea God of the hunt. Give everything trample and can for an expensive mana spend pump up a creature. And she can’t be destroyed. Awesome.
Also new to magic. I just played a 5 commander game that I came 2nd in as the first game with this deck. My favorite thing that happened was I had a really wide board with big creatures but got board wiped. However there are a couple cards that let you retrieve ALL of your enchant creature auras from your graveyard and put them on the battlefield on a creature. Two of the other players were playing mill so there were a LOT in there. So after managing to get at least one creature out my board suddenly became a Voltron board in a last ditch attempt. The deck is a lot of fun with the kind of things it’s able to do out of the box. Only ended up losing to a red-blue deck that managed to do damage with sorcery casting and I couldn’t counter. So much fun.
Im in the mist of ordering a BANT deck and all the glitters is a really good one to add. Cheap with a massive pay off late game if your board state is on point
I just picked this deck up at my local shop for $20. I have never tried Enchantress, so for $20 and $4 for sleeves I figured why not? Thank you for the ideas. I have some of these cards, so I won’t spend $50 upgrading it, but the ideas are helpful.
4:25 so what you are saying is, you can't turn one of your creatures into "the beast" from beauty and the beast, because he was both a monster and a royal one at that so he had the monster role and the royal role on him I would take out about 3 lands here. for those 3 lands I would add Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist, so you can move your auras around, you can move the roles on your commander that she makes. I would also add "Sythis, Harvest's Hand" because she's another draw engine and you can never have too many. and my lastt one would be "Teleportation circle". So: 3 lands out and put in "Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist", "Sythis, Harvest's Hand" & "Teleportation circle". If you are not putting "Shielded by faith" into the deck, I would take out Siona, captain of the pleas. I guess it makes lots of tokens here, but does it do enough? I'm cutting that one instead of the Timber paladin, which I think does work with the upgrades I'm making. same with Daybreak coronet, I cut the realm-cloaked Giant instead. So I ended with 35 lands but the average cmc is 1.88 so I think that is ok. I am planning on building more Baldurs gate decks. I have Raggadragga, but I wanna do Lae'zel + Master Chef (+1/+1 theme) and Abdel Adrian + Agent of the Iron throne (blink theme) and "Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer + Raised by Giants, which is a goad deck and maybe Wilson, Refined Grizzly + Raised by Giants which is a voltron deck. I have played Baldursgate 3 a little bit and I am enjoying it so far, but my problem with it is the same problem i had with Divinity Original Sin 2, I keep restarting the game because I think of something different I want to try instead of finishing the game first lol.
Technically, he would have had a Royal role token on him, been cursed and replaced it with a Monster Role token and then through Belle, replaced the Monster Role token with a Royal role token, so it works fine within MTG.
Just ordered this precon online couple days ago since I missed out on it when we got it. Got it for $30. I also ordered more Auras for the deck as well, can't wait to get the deck & try it out!
Some funny role-token-related additions: - Jaheira, Friend of the Forest lets your Role auras tap for mana. That’s a whole lotta free green! - Cadira, Caller of the Small similarly has makes bunnies for each Role token you have and also has that sweet sweet Trample. Could turn into a very hare-y situation very quickly!
I was coming to say Jaheira would work too. Also since roles are tokens I was thinking about Parallel Lives/Anointed Procession to double the output and they’re both also enchantments so would be fine includes if you have them.
Cutting daybreak coronet seems really odd to me. Yes it can be awkward because our commander puts on auras at the beginning of combat, so you need a creature to hang around for a turn with a role on it, but if you do - the coronet gets you like 10 point life swing per turn? Seems like the kind of all star that helps your grind out casual games
Plus even without the commander this is an aura deck so not that hard to have an enchanted thing. Cutting timber palladin also really confused me, commander enables the first aura then slap 2 more and you have a game ending threat
20:25 WotC: "Hall of Heliod's Generosity seems like a good land inclusion in an enchantment deck. Let's pat our backs on that one." MtG community: *cough* "Sliver Hive?" *cough*
Thought I might suggest something: when comparing the reprint value to other sets, it would be cool if the highest PreCon reprint value from that set was mentioned rather than just the average value. Kinda hard to compare when there’s so much variance in reprint value on a set by set basis.
He just fit the budget better honestly! It's not much of a difference but at least at the time I made the list we were pretty close to exactly $50 and I didn't want to go over.
Ox Drover wants to fight Changelings. Which I don't think will ever happen...but it's interesting. Going to go look for a way to give my opponents Changeling for a turn.
I feel like the roles are the new Rhystic study (“do you want to pay the one?”) with You: “…and it comes in with an [insert chosen role] token”… Opponents: “…what does that one do again?”
Foll from the future here 🐠✨️ if some cards cost too much check the price of voice of resurgence also moonshaker calvary may cost less than kodama of the west tree💪
If WoTC’s Amazon storefront is any indication of actual LGS price, the decks are being sold at $50. Amazon usually has discounts, but that’s the marketed price
Didn't see anyone mentioning the sad reality that most of the outtakes are new cards. Just bad new ones this time around that don't make any cut against the great history of enchantment decks. Sad to buy a reprint deck to take all the new cards out.
Go with whichever one your gut feels attached to. As someone that bought more than 10 precons over the last two years, every deck is “good enough” and you will find yourself reaching for the deck you just like more. I personally like leaning into the flavour of the deck or theme. I tend to like tribal decks (for example faeries). Both of these decks are great decks out of the box, and if you really like them and like playing them, you might enjoy spending a bit of money upgrading them over time. Have fun and welcome!
Um. I'm kind of new. This deck seems a bit "read-ie." I know it's simple to most but I try to avoid the ones where you have to read and then reread again and kind over strat. I'm it sure about the other deck. The 40k decks seemed to have easier barrier of entry.
I think they are both a ton of fun, but the Fae Dominion precon is going to be more straight-forward to learn and will reward you the most for getting better at playing. This precon is very focused around the Role mechanic which isn't necessarily important for a new player to learn.
Is there a place where I could scan the cards I have and it would tell me which ones would work well together in a commander deck? I’m getting back into magic after more that a decade without playing and I’m not sure if the old cards I have are any good for a deck. Back in the day I didn’t play commander (I’m not even sure it was a thing back then) but now I want to get into it. Thanks!
I've never considering blinking Ellivere, that's smart in theory. However, that would remove any auras on her, based on what I've read. Given how she's essentially the backbone of the deck to make creatures stompy, I'd much rather have the protection, and proc her ability through combat.
That's the point, you put auras on other creatures ellivere is not your beater she's the one placing an aura on others that give +1/+1 for EACH enchantment.
Noone at Mt LGS wants this they are selling for only $27. In fact they wouldn't even open a new box to get the fairy deck, but I convinces then to since I bought both
I love this dude with the beard hes so chill low key rachel is kinda an awesome host too feel like she a real person and understands this job is kinda goofy but rocks it anyway but also love to josh and jimmy even though josh wins likely every game knights with the same damn cards i feel like hes very smart like maybe genius level IQ low key and well spoken and low key prof fell off this channel better now his reviews are so inconsistent like wtf your videos are so much better for seeing if i should get a product even tho its basically just a podcast so its kinda cheating
I think there's a chance he's stronger depending on how you build the deck, I just think that out of the box he needs more changes to be viable. I'd love to see a deck built around him though
To be honest I can't bring myself to take out Liberated Lifestock. 6 mana is expensive but at a more casual powerlevel I don't really see the need to kill it. I mean you get a 4/6 that easily get's so much stronger in no time. You can even cast at least THREE Auras + put a Virtue Role on it and throw it at your opponents, it then being probably a 20/22 or so, easily. Either the opponent has to deal with it or kills it which then gives you what you wanted in the first place - 3 nice tokens and you get the 3 Auras right back onto the tokens. Also I really dislike that usually in decks that are commanded by ETB or attack-Commanders it's a pain to make it work by evasion or flickering. This is a deck that can rather easily turn the Commander into a viable attacker - even by brute force in many matchups. I mean if this PreCon can't then no PreCon can. Sure, sometimes it works better, other times not so well - always depending on what you draw. Most of the times it's not like you'll need a ton of Virtue Roles in no time so I think it kinda is a risk that can be taken. One more thing out of experience even though probably hardly anyone will read this after all this time. There are 39 Lands, yet the Mana is always my biggest problem when playing this deck. I don't even know why but it is. Also I've never seen another PreCon that comes even close to the insane card draw this deck mostly can build up. My hand is almost always full of cards that want to be cast. I think putting 1-2 cards in there that double or triple mana production could have an insane impact. I know that's rather difficult having a 50 bucks limit but in general.. :) I just think the Cards to take out segment is often times very weird in these videos. Daybreak Coronet is not doing enough? And then Giant Inheritance...a card that automatically comes back to your hand if something goes wrong and lets you pierce the defenses of opponents who can produce chump blockers en masse. Sure, some cards need to go but...man...
Those are traditionally the “good guys” colors in MTG, with blue being neutral and Rakdos being the “bad guys”. Nothing new (Phyrexia shook it up a bit and spread the evil around).
That's fair. You could always cut another land or find a different cut somewhere. I haven't played with the card, so maybe it'll be better than we expect. It just seems like it'll take a lot to get the payoff
First off, anyone who plays song of the dryads should be banned from commander for life. Second, I really wish they'd go back to the 20$ budget upgrades. With the cost of the precons already getting more and more expensive, adding even more cost on top of that just hurts.
@@BigxRedxDogSong of the Dryads is a notorious "no more commander for you" card, since it doesn't move the commander to another zone (so you can't send your commander back to the command zone) and lands are extremely hard to get rid of to force your commander back to the zone.
What do you think of the “Virtue and Valor” precon? Any cards we missed? Any cards we suggested to take out or add that you disagree with?

Yes it can be awkward because our commander puts on auras at the beginning of combat, so you need a creature to hang around for a turn with a role on it, but if you do - the coronet gets you like 10 point life swing per turn? Seems like the kind of all star that helps your grind out casual games
Plus even without the commander this is an aura deck so not that hard to have an enchanted thing. Cutting timber palladin also really confused me, commander enables the first aura then slap 2 more and you have a game ending threat
This set seems like a lot of fun. Still looking forward to Caverns of Ixalan though.
Same! Was literally just thinking this 😂
@@washadaI'm definitely going to name a Red wall/Hobbit/Ent deck of I can
20:25 WotC: "Hall of Heliod's Generosity seems like a good land inclusion in an enchantment deck. Let's pat our backs on that one."
MtG community: *cough* "Sliver Hive?" *cough*
And it wasn’t in the enchantment deck for commander masters! Still salty
Thought I might suggest something: when comparing the reprint value to other sets, it would be cool if the highest PreCon reprint value from that set was mentioned rather than just the average value. Kinda hard to compare when there’s so much variance in reprint value on a set by set basis.
45:01 I think these Oxen are plants for Thunder Junction. Cowboys need cows to wrangle right
High reprint value. I just bought mine today for $27 cause it went down so much. Well worth it to me.
What I would add is that late-ish game, Knickknack Ouphe and Hydra's Growth can be a beastly combo.
Great thing about the upgrade guide is with the bonus sheet grasp of fate went from $4 to $0.50 so you can have an extra $3.50 for bonus upgrades
The Jedis are gonna feel this Ouphe!
Can’t believe danitha new benalia’s light wasn’t mentioned in the cards to add!!!
Gylwain? More like LIL' WAYNE! YEEEEEAAAAAHHH! OH KAY!
YEAH! and OK! were Lil Jon, not Lil Wayne.
Why put in Sram opposed to Sythis Harvest Hand? Draw a card for any enchantment instead of just for auras and also gain 1 life every time.
I have Kaima, the Fractured Calm deck. Here is some tech: Tranquil Domain.
Foll from the future here 🐠✨️ if some cards cost too much check the price of voice of resurgence also moonshaker calvary may cost less than kodama of the west tree💪
Unless if a foundational set had a reprint 🐠😉that's all I can say⏳️🛸
I ordered this deck because I wanted something fresh to play but was very “meh” about it. After going through the deck tho I am excited to try it out
I'd main Gylwain and pull some of the weakest aura's to replace with creatures or enchantment payoffs, seems quite good.
I would love to have y’all look at what I did to this precon and have y’all tell me what you think!
BALDURS GATE IS SO GOOD
these videos are very helpful
If WoTC’s Amazon storefront is any indication of actual LGS price, the decks are being sold at $50. Amazon usually has discounts, but that’s the marketed price
Didn't see anyone mentioning the sad reality that most of the outtakes are new cards. Just bad new ones this time around that don't make any cut against the great history of enchantment decks. Sad to buy a reprint deck to take all the new cards out.
Another question: for a commander beginner, is this deck better than the Fae Dominion precon? I mean right out of the box, before the upgrades.
Thanks!
I'm buyingg this precon to upgrade my Uril deck
I'm excited for this deck, it's the one I want (until doctor who gets here 😂)
I need the second precon upgrade 😅
My wife is hooked on the look of this deck. Is it a good deck for a beginner to get into mtg?
They stated her draw effect is active from the commander zone. Is that accurate?
Surprised that Season of Growth wasn't in the upgrade or the precon
I’m torn. Xenk? Yay or nay?
I've never considering blinking Ellivere, that's smart in theory. However, that would remove any auras on her, based on what I've read. Given how she's essentially the backbone of the deck to make creatures stompy, I'd much rather have the protection, and proc her ability through combat.
That's the point, you put auras on other creatures ellivere is not your beater she's the one placing an aura on others that give +1/+1 for EACH enchantment.
getting kind of sick of my Sythis deck and sitting on my hands, so i'm looking to Ellivere for inspiration
Gonna fold this into a Mazzy deck for tramply aura fun.
There should be a "Pré-Con" tournament play ! lasts half a year to the big WORLD final ! 🤘🦁🤘
Noone at Mt LGS wants this they are selling for only $27. In fact they wouldn't even open a new box to get the fairy deck, but I convinces then to since I bought both
Im saddened by the lack of rabid wombat, spirit link and armadillo cloak.
Cards to ad - 3 cards are the price of the entire deck during that time.
Now just calix is the price of this deck.
What about season of the growth it's a perfect fit
I'm a little surprised you didn't include Composer of Spring
It was on my list but I couldn't include everything!
@@JordanPridgen That's fair!
The precon should have been named "Role Playing."
Fae Dominion tomorrow? :O
This precon is so strong...
Ox drover gets taken out and then goes straight into....pheldagriff
38:27 i put in stuffy doll instead
Play a card draw a card play a card draw a card....
Pass
Basically me when playing Tuvasa as my commander
I would’ve named the deck Enchanted Ensemble 🤷🏾♂️
Can you have more then one of the same role ?
Nope, only one role on a creature
If both of those roles are controlled by different players then yes?
Yes, you can have more than one of the same role, as long as they are on different creatures.
I think Gylwain is stronger than Ellivore, am I the only one?
PS. Great video as always
They are both good commanders but IMO Gylwain is the more powerful of the two.
I just think the Cards to take out segment is often times very weird in these videos. Daybreak Coronet is not doing enough? And then Giant Inheritance...a card that automatically comes back to your hand if something goes wrong and lets you pierce the defenses of opponents who can produce chump blockers en masse. Sure, some cards need to go but...man...
no mention of Timber Paladin in the best cards. so sad
Not a fan of the only card in the game that creates Virtuous Role aura tokens being locked into green white
Those are traditionally the “good guys” colors in MTG, with blue being neutral and Rakdos being the “bad guys”. Nothing new (Phyrexia shook it up a bit and spread the evil around).
39 Lands!!!!!! Holy cow! I run 32-36 depending on the commander.
Gylwain is a lot more busted, but he needs a dedicated deck to work. Gyl + Composer = GG.
I don't like the cut of Timber Paladin.
That's fair. You could always cut another land or find a different cut somewhere. I haven't played with the card, so maybe it'll be better than we expect. It just seems like it'll take a lot to get the payoff
never been this early
I like the upgrades but card kingdom is more expensive than tcgplayer.. by A TON! I understand they're a sponsor but it's a "budget" upgrade..
Is Rachel okay? She sounds so tired...
Sorry but I will never be cutting liberated livestock
Casting director should have an enchantment called "casting couch"
does jimmy and josh ever host their own show anymore :/
First off, anyone who plays song of the dryads should be banned from commander for life. Second, I really wish they'd go back to the 20$ budget upgrades. With the cost of the precons already getting more and more expensive, adding even more cost on top of that just hurts.
Not play “Song of the Dryads”, Why?
@@BigxRedxDogSong of the Dryads is a notorious "no more commander for you" card, since it doesn't move the commander to another zone (so you can't send your commander back to the command zone) and lands are extremely hard to get rid of to force your commander back to the zone.
Hi
