    The Scuba guys can stay down longer and poke around more, but, man, you look so graceful and fluid next to them.
    A joy.

    Hello from Switzerland. I would like to tell you that I genuinely enjoy your videos. You bring so much calm and peace of mind when I watch your videos, because of the lovely filming, editing, choice of music and your demeanour. As a scuba diver I feel jealous but enjoy living these moments with you. My favourite video of yours is Grotto Saipan. I want to truly thank you for your efforts, and wish all the best. Please continue bringing this calmness to many people like myself

    Always thought freediving was something that was just completely beyond me, though I also thought that about SCUBA but I got my Open Water last November. However, watching your vids has somehow humanized the experience, showing that it's not for the extreme elite but something that any able-bodied person could try.
    I very recently began dry statics and it's utterly incredible what a proper breath up and relaxation can do. I remember when even holding my breath for 1 minute seemed impossible, but within two practice sessions I went from 1m35, to 3min, and now I've reached 4min.
    Keep up the awesome and inspirational work!

    hello there. great video as always. my question is in scuba diving course they teach you that a safety stop is absolutely needed when ascending to the surface from that depth. But it certainly seems like you had been doing just fine from 18meter up to the surface without the safety stop. Can you enlighten me?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  7 років тому +3

      Safety stop is a scuba thing, since the divers have been breathing compressed air at depth, the safety stop gives time for the diver to release nitrogen which was absorbed into the blood stream. Freedivers do not breath gas under pressure, so we *generally* don't have this issue. There are exceptions for extreme conditions.

    I've been loving your videos. As a commercial diver I am always wary of having to cut away fishing lines and nets when working around structures. I can't see you carrying a knife and I am wondering if this is usual for free divers or if you have one I just can't see?

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 років тому +1

      +Jeremy Williams Freedivers generally don't carry knifes. The whole entanglement issue does worry me.... i wouldn't be surprised if i got stuck in fishing line and died one day.

      Freediver HD Speaking in terms of diving locations the furthest spot from shore that are under 33m deep are located just under a mile offshore. Which I believe in your case of meters it would be roughly 1400 meters. Which makes them reachable by either boat or kayak. (Both of Which I have). Our current is usually the only thing we have to contend with. It's mostly mild but can change drastically from day to day due to our close proximity to the Gulfstream which Ironically supplies us with our generally clear warm waters year round. However even when the currents are bad they won't drift you offshore they just run longshore either to the north or south which just makes you cover more ground during your dive. (good if you're on a boat, long paddle back to the truck if on the yaks… Lol) Our style of diving is mostly drift diving with an abundance of reefs and wrecks I promise you we could dive different spots everyday for a month and still have spots left to check out. If you do a bit of research on south florida dive locations you'll find there's an endless supply of diving opportunity here.

    Hey bro, awesome vids and thanks for keeping up with it! Your vids are most of the reason I got into this. I remember you saying you used a Hero 4 Silver.....what settings did you use for this video? It came out very good!

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 років тому

      Thanks for the great words. This video was filmed in standard settings, 1440P. The original video files straight off the camera are a bit, random, some good, some bad - The key is getting the video to look good is editing and color correcting it in Sony Vegas.

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 років тому

      No, im just using it for the sun (used to get sun burn on my back while on the surface breathing up). But I do put my hood on, which is neopreen and offers some warmth, since you do loose a lot of heat through your head, so its helps a small bit... and keeps the sun off my neck.

    • @freediverhd
      @freediverhd  8 років тому

      It's depends on how much swimming/moving you do underwater. If you are mostly still, its easy to get 3 minutues, but if you kicking and swimming around on the bottom, after 1:15 I feel like its already time to go back up.
