I met my first wife at a night club, this is the song that had just started when I asked her to dance. She said I looked like Dave.

Dave was the main voice, Martin and Alan did the backing vocals and Fletch had the mike turned off :)

Yes, Martin is an excellent singer, he is the hidden "star" in the band. A lot of DM fans love Martin more than Dave. He says in an interview that he won´t do singing in front of a huge mass of people, so this is why he is in the backround. My oppinion is they all together make this fantastic sound and that is DM for me.

    • @SephPlays

Yeah together they really do make *ONE*

I watched all your Depeche Mode videos since yesterday. It's great to see someone going through what I went through many years ago. Believe me, this is love for life, and this delight never ends. Sometimes it dims for a moment just to make way for something else, but then it always comes back with the same strength. Thanks to your reactions, I can feel this magic from the beginning. I wish you a fantastic further journey through this world of magic. Believe me, it only gets better. You have no idea what awaits you. I really want to see it.

With Just Can't Get Enough being the last song on 101 since you already reacted to Everything Counts 101. Are you continuing watching official videos if possible? You'll see their development through the years. Also Pimpf is just the intro but in combination with Behind The Wheel it's just awesome.
Edit: The "It's a lot" "like life" comes from the backing tape but they sing the "come on" live
Second Edit: Fun fact Fletches mic was never plugged in and they never told him that until the 90s
    Sry for writing too much

"Oh don't let go, you'll kill somebody. How was you killed? Dave accidentally flung his mic stand straight into my face. Oh that's a good way to die!" (8:39) Funny!
Some of the vocals are very likely on the backing track, especially during the bridge and outro when they are singing "it's a lot, it's a lot, come on..." And the band are singing on top of it.
Btw, any chance you can bring back this unbuttoned shirt? I'm sure a certain subset of your subscribers won't complain. :)

Martin has been and always will be one of the greatest writers of all time. If you just read the titles your mind can "assume" what it's about, but he always drops us those golden nuggets within the lyrics to let us know it could be interpreted in different ways. Like this song "IN BED OR IN LIFE THEY'RE BOTH JUST THE SAME"

It was really a huge concert… incredible ! Strangely, they wasn’t a best selling band in U.S. but everywhere they came it was sold out ! It was for the record company a strange thing that in general the lp’s selling didn’t fit with the crowd in concert. It was kind of confidential officially but SO SO SO MANY FANS could take the road to see them live… Lots of D.J.’s, underground artists and many others in the states and everywhere were influenced by them even earlier… in 1983… Many of them had talk about « Get the balance right » as an exemple… I think that especially the way they had use sampling very early had show everyone a new way to make music too !
Later with Violator they became more « popular ». For the promotion of Violator they had to come in a store for a « sign in ». So many people showed up that they had to cancel and be evacuated, making headlines liken it to Beatles mania. It was not planned but the best advertisement they had not imagined to promote Violator ;)
I discover them in 1985 (i was eleven)… but in my memory so many people didn’t understood DM… They weren't taken seriously and didn't get the recognition they so deserved…
They can be very proud (like i am of them) for all their masterpieces without taking care of what to do to sell more but only to make music their way !
We can also thanks Daniel Miller the MUTE record label director who let them do everything they wanted. Supporting them and producing without any pressure.
Besides, it should be noted that they have never signed a contract other than moral. Only a handshake for a first single... « we'll see ». Without a real contract they could do whatever they wanted with the blessing of Daniel Miller. It is only in 2021 that they will sign a real contract...

Sorry to destroy Your World view but Master And Servant Was NOT the first Song Performed in this Concert. The DVD is a Editet Down Version with a wrong Song Order. Behind The Wheel was the First Song Master And Servant was actually one of the last Songs.
