I found Spatial contortion to not be good enough. It's not a bad card, but it's just not effective enough. I play incendiary sabotage maindeck and it's been performing better than the contortions. Since I made that change, the foundry inspectors have also been cut for 2 deadlock trap and 2 scrapheap scrounger. I've found the scrounger to be very good for crewing vehicles, a solid turn 2 play to offer something aggressive, and a decent late game option removing cranes from the GY to continue crewing sky ship. A card that I found to be pretty good in the sideboard is Disappearing Act. You can return your 2-mana cantrips to draw extra cards, and since blue decks will probably play Ceremonious Rejection against you, you probably don't want to play void shatter. The deck has trouble beating control, especially when they start casting gearhulks, so you need to have a counter for those. Another good card for the sideboard is Fevered Visions. It might sound counterproductive to have control and midrange drawing more cards, but I bring in a heavy counterspell package post sb so it isn't bad for me either, and it helps hedge against their answers by letting me draw more gas since half of the deck is very non-impactful in general. I found it to be useful against slow green creature decks as well.
What are your thoughts on a grixis control deck using a colossus as a subtheme? I envision it as something like shota yasooka's deck, but take out some of the removal. That would allow the some mana rocks to accelerate more expensive interaction, and it also enables the colossus as the main finisher. You could also use this as the sideboard plan against control after they take out most of their creature removal. Please note, this isn't intended to be a serious deck, just something to be competitive at fnm
noobyPhobos You're making a very wide generalization about an entire format. What you've missed is the specific context I proposed. With a control deck like the one I proposed, they see so many cards that it would be very little of an issue for the pilot to find it, and the tools to utilize it. Tools that can also be used to give yourself the ability to hold up more counterspells, by increasing your mana. Remember, I'm only trying to get a deecent deck for an fnm, not something more serious.
Looking at the side, I can see KTK block decks (which was never a thing seeing as they cancelled that after Theros block) and a deck simply named 'Brian Kibler'. Interesting...
Honestly I've found that splashing black just to run srapheap scrounger is super beneficial . I ran the jeskai version with no skyships so yeah... that card is super needed. beneficial.
This deck is great but I hope it's fast enough and consistent enough, without foundry inspector it's kinda slow but the deck and colossus Is a hard card to take out. The grixis deck that won only had a few answer.
i think what he means is... Opponent is on 9 hp tapped out. So crew the sovereign with the foundry inspector, play contortion targeting the sovereign, making it a 9-2, swing for the win. Actually kinda disappointed LSV didn't see this, i saw it right away... Guess he was just thinking contortion as a removal spell. I'm pretty sure i'm not missing anything here...
Didn't manage to squeeze 4x Smuggler's Copter into the deck? :P
This makes me want to play standard again both of these decks are friggin sweet
"I can't even figure out a colossus driving a caravan. just seems very unsafe"
ROFL
This deck is sweet! And the pilot is a pretty sweet player so it looks good and I'm going to build it. Keep it going LSV
LSV still making the best MTGO videos
Comment section is 80% players offering up lines of play that they think are lethal, but don't know how cards work
You dont even know how badly I wanted this video.
do you have to have a Colossus in the GY to activate it's Sacrifice ability or can you sac itself to dodge Noxious gearhulk ability?
I lived the dream today. My opening hand with deck was three Sanctum of Ugins and I played four Colossi for free.
Mardu reanimator seems pretty fun.
Makes we want to build with ever after and get double gearhulks, but that is clearly not a good way to build it.
ever after is a sweet include. A lot of the reanimator decks are playing it.

well now I have to go buy this deck looks like too much fun thanks lsv
Is that one of those massage seat covers I hear in the background?
in game 1 couldn't you just attack with the skyship for 3, then cast the 2nd ship and deal 6 with the panharmonicon trigger to kill him?

there is no colossus subtheme, you have to go all in on him. or he will alsways be costing around 8-6 mana, which is quite bad.

I think its just trying to get too cute if you're going to a colossus sub theme
Any upgrades/updates for AER? :)
will you do a set of videos on the temur and jeskai versions
This deck is SO METAL.
Looking at the side, I can see KTK block decks (which was never a thing seeing as they cancelled that after Theros block) and a deck simply named 'Brian Kibler'. Interesting...
How crazy would that be if Ever After resolved? That woulda been the craziest steal ever.
I usually don't like standard, but this deck is a fun one. I love me some beefy artifacts.
Why can't we get the decklist in the video-description? Needz timesaver plix
i cant see when and what the Lashweed lurker would help against plz teach me
Honestly I've found that splashing black just to run srapheap scrounger is super beneficial . I ran the jeskai version with no skyships so yeah... that card is super needed. beneficial.
First Game...could you not have hit face with both Skyships for lethal? Panharmonicon triggers both twice for 12 damage
William C only hits creatures or planeswalkers
I want to win Free stuff oh crap, I must've misread the tiny text on my mobile! Ignore my idiocy
William C Skysovereign can only hit creatures or Planeswalkers, not face.
William C the ships only hit creatures and planeswalkers
William C I thought the same, but sky ship doesn't hit players.
haunted cloak would be awesome in this deck. reduces the cost of colossus and with 1 mana gives haste and trample.
at 12:30, could you have cast skysovereign to kill the gearhulk and then colossus costs zero mana?
He also could have just fired off both skysovereigns to deal 12 damage to his opponents face, but where's the drama in that?
sovereign can't target players
skysovereign is legendary
Nooooo I don't see any Anti-Cheon decks on the side ;)
Love you LSV!
Anticheon UB was on that list of decklists, worry not!
Having the ability to cast Built to Last and maybe even Built to Smash would be good i think.
What's this application called?
This deck is great but I hope it's fast enough and consistent enough, without foundry inspector it's kinda slow but the deck and colossus Is a hard card to take out. The grixis deck that won only had a few answer.
Everyone loves LSV
I don't understand why these decks don't run Key to the City...
LSV video!!!!!!! yesssssssss
Missed lethal with spawning bed and crewing the caravan to attack at 21:43 :(
Never mind. It wouldn't be lethal still. Lol.
with the exception of skysovereign and panharmonicon this is virtually the same deck I built. eery.
meatrace There are a number of people playing the deck. It has been around since the format changed.
Where can I get the deck list for this deck
Marco Gazzola At the beginning of the video there's a deck tech.
No more drafts?
Game 1 you couldve just played the two sky sovereigns targeting the head for all 4 triggers.
Can't target players
12:14, opportunity to win playing a creature and crewing the skysorvereign attacking for 9.
missed lethal in the first game too. You could have played both sky sovereigns doming him for 12
Caaaaaan't target players
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaas
bladestar17 Yaaaaassss!! I agree with your spelling of "yes" :)
I want see that mono blue nonsense ahahah
can i get the list of cards plz
@ 12:50 u coulda just attacked with sovereign and used contortion.
if he does he dies to shambling vent
i think what he means is... Opponent is on 9 hp tapped out. So crew the sovereign with the foundry inspector, play contortion targeting the sovereign, making it a 9-2, swing for the win. why u no counter???
yay u countered
You're not gonna lie, huh? I hate that expression. As opposed to, "I'm gonna lie"?
Apart from that, thanks for the vids...
put in 2 skysoverign and target opponent for 12 damage.... Jesus
Skysovereign is legendary. It also can't target players.
"I'm two mana short of playing two colossuses and though knot seer and keeping up negate"
This deck is dumb 😆
