As requested by our patrons, here is our version of J.R.R. Tolkien's poem, "The King Beneath the Mountains!" We worked very hard on this and hope you enjoy it:)
A note on our interpretation:
As described in the book, the legend of the Mountain King's return was one that would bring much joy and fulfillment to both Dwarvenkind and mankind in and around the Lonely Mountain.
Thus, we thought reading the prophecy seemed a fitting way to bring life to this text of legend, for would it not have been spoken far and wide for decades, until the day that it would be fulfilled?
Then, the text is sung: the tune itself is quite simple, a regular folk tune. This made sense since it would be the common man to whom this prophecy would bring the most hope.
The first half of the song, in which the whole text is sung is sort of our "Dwarven tribute" to the prophecy. The second half of the song, after the middle interlude, is as if the listener enters into Laketown, where a bard (pun intended?) may have taken up the tune, and is joined by his comrades now already celebrating the return of the Mountain king as described in the book. Since we wanted to give a nod to both the Dwarves and the men, we decided to use the same tune with two different feels. We hope you enjoy it! This was a joy to compose and bring to life!
We are unable to get permission to sell this song so we are posting it here free for your enjoyment. If you want a copy of the mp3, we are offering it to those who support us on Patreon!
My brother composed and arranged the piece. My family sang it.
Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:)
Lyrics:
The King beneath the mountains,
The King of carven stone,
The lord of silver fountains
Shall come into his own!
His crown shall be upholden,
His harp shall be restrung,
His halls shall echo golden
To songs of yore re-sung.
The woods shall wave on mountains
And grass beneath the sun;
His wealth shall flow in fountains
And the rivers golden run.
The streams shall run in gladness,
The lakes shall shine and burn,
All sorrow fail and sadness
At the Mountain-king's return!
Here is our version of J.R.R. Tolkien's, "The King Beneath the Mountains!" We hope you enjoy it:)
Excellent work, as always!
So... sorry if someone else already wrote this, but when can we go buy it on iTunes?
Zulatobari Greatforge read the description mate, they didn't get the rights.
Clamavi De Profundis can you guys sing Tale Of Tongues from Skyrim?? Please🙏🙏🙏
Clamavi De Profundis please do a video on which we can see you 😍😍😍 You are so good and you sing so beautiful, please show yourself 😍😍😍
My dad first read The Hobbit to me when I was very young.
Every night he'd come into my room, sit on my bed next to me, and read another chapter in the warm glow of a dimmed lamp. He gave all the characters unique voices that made me laugh, and he even sang the songs, making up the tune as he went.
Now, almost twenty years later, sitting in my appartment and listening to this song, I can hear his voice and feel the covers wrapped around me again.
Thank you so much for making this.
(P.S. My dad is still alive and well. This song just brought back some treasured memories.)
My mother did the same thing every winter.
My dad did the same thing
My mom read it to me, and it was the book that made me want to learn to read.

You childhood was very blessed
I bet your dad has written several books?
I am reading the Hobbit to my 5 year old. I showed this (and your other songs from the book) and he has not stopped singing this for the last few weeks. He also insists of singing it in his deep, dwarven voice. He and his 3 year old sister want this to be the song I sing to them at bedtime. He also enjoys running around the house in a cloak and enormous boots. Thanks for making great stuff like this and for being so much cooler than Aquanauts.
Me to your Kids: We will watch your career with greate interest
Nice kids bro
this is wonderful in every way!
my dad did similar thing to me (:
😂😂 that's awesome!!
J.R.R. Tolkien, you were a genius.
May you be remembered as one of the greatest, along names as Homerus and Shakespeare.
Rik Remmerswaal Truley immortal.
Personally, I think I prefer George RR Martin, but heck, Tolkien could certainly write something intriguing.
As the US Marines say, "Ooh-RAH!"
Levi Herendeen I'm a big fan of George RR Martin, and he is definitely at the top when it comes to fantasy writing, but he is not yet on the level of Tolkien. The detail that Tolkien covered is beyond anything I've ever witnessed thus far, creating entire languages and then dialects or sublanguages within, with its own grammar rules.
Martin will never ever be equal to Tolkien
How can a fantasy world be so real to me? Honestly, Middle-earth is a part of my life. Thank you Tolkien, thank you Peter Jackson and thank you Clamavi de Profundis!
I don't think that Peter Jackson could be thanked too much. Remember the insult called The Battle of the Five Armies?
Mere existence of Tauriel was an insult enough to me, but I am just reading how they escaped from Mirkwood in the book, you make me anxious about the battle now!
Because it flows from our stories, our ideals to become Heores, it calls us to become Eorlingas and fiercely battle the evil inside of us, frail mortal Men, and become the Ilúvatar's Blessed Ones. It's about Us. We need you, o wise King of Gondor. We need you, o sweet bard Tolkien.
how is that an insult?
It has a meaning! That's what makes it beautiful. We all know that there is something that we can relate to but we don't get it the first time.
"Azog the Defiler learned that day that the line of Durin would not be so easily broken. Our forces rallied and drove the Orcs back; our enemy had been defeated... but there was no feast or songs that night, for our dead were beyond the count of grief. We few had survived and I thought to myself then There is one I could follow. There is one I could call King"
In honor of Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, son of Thror. King Under The Mountain.
Azog had been dead for a long time by the time of the hobbit. It's a large change the movies made, Azog's son Bolg was a leader of the Goblins of the Misty mountain, but not Azog
@@calebhein2788 That Line was about the battle where azog died in lore, and was taken from the book
"There is one I could follow" get to Bilbo hole and says I got lost
For the King!
Thorin... The sexy dwarf.. Oooo❤
I love how the entire premise of Clamavi is just to make grand orchestral versions of J R R Tolkien's poetry. Concise, and boy do they deliver
Entire premise? They have a couple original songs that are equally fantastic and another completely unrelated movie score which, as usual, is fantastic.
It is NOT their entire premise. This is just what people want them to make. As Aaron said - they also make original songs. Check them out, they are underrated.
Aren't they? Song of Kings is stunning!
Their true purpose is
Deus Vult
Tolkien Ensemble is also good! Waya Azrael
I always love how they brought such diversity to Tolkiens poems. The dwarven songs always feel hopeful to me, sung from a place of hardship but dreaming of better times, whereas the songs of men always hit me as filled with grief for times and people lost
And this, lads, is why Tolkien is the greatest writer of the 20th century.
And many other centuries as well.
I wouldn't go that far, but most certainly up there with Shakespeare, Byron, Dickens, Pope, Falkner, as one of the greatest writers of all time.
C.S Forester comes close

The dwarves had the strongest will out of the 3 races. Remember, it was only Gimli that actually willingly tried to destroy the One Ring in the movies.
3 races? There are more than 3
@@WraithLK i meant out of the races that were allied in the war against Sauron. The dwarves, elves and men. You are right though, there are more than 3 ofcourse 😅. I should also mention the hobbits and others, but the main "military" opposition to Sauron historically were those 3 races.
It cost him an axe though... but it was worth it.

You missed the Fall of Gil Galad, one of my absolute favorites
“The lakes shall shine and burn.”
I think the dwarves might have misunderstood that prophecy.
I think it's like " Like shall shine and burn shall sorrow fail and sadness".. i dunno why but i think i'm talking like an idiot.
Came true though, dinnit? Sure, the golden glow was Smaug's fire, but the rivers still ran golden and the lake did burn
ore like it (the lakes) shall burn away all sorrow, fail and sadness.
The prophecy seems reversed.
first the lake burned, and only then the river ran golden. "...and much wealth went up and down the Running River."
Edit: I'm an idiot, there is no mention of the lake burning.
I always thought it was an honest line of the sun burning across a crystal clear lake, not the greed for gold that drove them to exile in the first place.

Indeed. We men are drawn to such music
I keep coming back here, over and over. It's not even my favorite song, this honor shall go to "Song of Durin" for the story it tells, but this one... It speak to me on a level I cannot describe. It bear both the power of nostalgia, of the golden days of yore, and that of hope, hope of seeing those days returning, even if altered someway. A true hope, of a new light, a hope untainted, tangible, that make people smile for the future.
It make me smile, for whatever future it promise, as future should.
Among all of Tolkien song, filled with nostalgia, mourning and sadness for what's lost (Song of Durin, Lament for Boromir, Lament for the Rohirrim...), this one is a little light to wich i'm attracted, forever and ever.
Just stunning. Absolutely stunning. I always get the craziest goosebumps from the songs you guys post.
Now, time to press that replay button like a madman.

sweet, I didnt realize you could use repeat outside of a playlist!!!
DAE feel a surge of goosebumps at the "The lord of silver fountains" line? The way they change their pitch and stretch the vowel in "lord" is just...sublime. A hymn fit for a king.
These songs make we wish I was a dwarf. And I love how the dwarves praise Durin and his power. It’s amazing how people can look up to someone and love them that much.
3:30-45 with my eyes closed I can see the dwarves awakening in erebor, with the sunlight between their fingers dazzling the eyes. Your music allows me to travel to places far away that even Tolkien did not imagine, I just have to thank you, every song a masterpiece ... I wish the great Professor Tolkien would be alive to marvel at your work and be proud of inspire such art, worthy of the great salons of Nargothrond...

I truly feel this comment
I have started rereading The Hobbit, and decided to listen to your interpretations of the songs as I came to them in the book, and I am so glad that I did. It adds another layer to the magic of Tolkien to hear the voices of the characters raised in song. Thank you for making tunes for these songs!
Never forget Tolkien was a believer. This song can easily be heard as a religiously, spiritually hopeful one. It has some really strong Old Testament vibe.
Yet another fantastic piece from Clamavi De Profundis! Been a big fan of the works for quite awhile. Keep up the excellent J.R.R. Tolkien's pieces! He'd be proud.
I LOVE the spoken text in the beginning - so incredibly epic! If it's possible, your songs seem to be getting better! Awesome.

Elad Bannett hahaha aw thank you so much! No plans on stopping anytime soon so no worries! Merry Christmas!
Had to memorize a poem for English class and I chose this one. Technically we weren't supposed to pick a song, but in my defense it was a poem before it was a song. Besides, the song helps me remember it. So there.
It fills my heart with joy knowing J.R.R Tolkien will never be forgotten. Clamavi De Profundis you make the sound to Tolkien's songs and poems. Your work is amazing never stop singing these beautiful songs.

This is one of my favorite Tolkien poems and this version, both spoken and sang, is truly beautiful
I have read the Hobbit more times then I can count and it never gets old. I love your music!
The part when you're reading the text is the best. The way how you did it is so epic... At the same time the song was sung wonderful, it is one of my favorites

There is an actual legend, from the ancient folk lore, known all over the national area where Slovenian language is spoken (or once has been), and perhaps even (or obviously?*) beyond, it is the legend of King Matjaž (or Mat(t)hias, Matheus, Matthew etc.), sleeping for ages beneath the (certain) mountain (in Slovenia, of course :-) ), and waiting for his beard to encircle his massive stone table nine times before he wakes up again. * Why obvious? It is known very well, at least to some of us, that J.R.R. Tolkien had geniously included surprisingly many elements from ancient and even more contemporary European lore and history, be it of linguistic, of geographical or simply of old folk tales nature, into his monumental work. As if he were rewriting some very ancient and long gone history, peoples and events, of realm disappeared ...
It is practically pan-european, this tale, The English King Arthur and German Kaiser Barbarossa are also hero-kings who never died, but are merely sleeping beneath their mountains and waiting until the day their people are in danger.
Weird, I know this legend from germany, the man was called ''Kaiser Barbarossa'' There is a huge statue of him built into a mountain in east-germany. The legend says: He will return to his throne when he is needed most. (Guess he overslept the third-reich.^^) And that his beard grew through a stonetable.

Agnarr Salventius Don't tell Tolkien's Dwarves about that. Especially Gimli.
Actually, anyone else notice that the enmity between Tolkien's Elves and Dwarves is really subdued compared to more modern portrayals? I mean, yeah they naturally distrust each other due to a past conflict, but they still gladly trade with each other and work together? For example:
-Elrond cared for Thorin and Company like he would any guest, and later invited the Dwarfs to the Council of Elrond, where he treated them as befitting honored ambassadors.
-The Hobbit's ending says that in the north, after the Battle of the Five Armies, there was friendship between Elves, Dwarves, and Men.
-The Fellowship enters Moria by a secret entrance made specially for trade with the Elves.
-And then of course we have Legolas and Gimli, who become such bros that they go exploring caves and forests together and try to appreciate each other's values. Plus, in the epilogue, Legolas and Gimli sail into the West together, because bros stick together. (This also makes Gimli the first Dwarf to ever journey to Valinor.)
I always thought that was interesting.
Agnarr Salventius you should hope to have an elf of Eregion at your forge. Few could compare to Celebrimbor and his guild of craftsmen
I would say false, elves are the best
The instrumental bridge of this adaptation is so good it's mind blowing. The gentle yet powerful effects of the choir combined with the orchestral crescendo and percussion always amazes me.
