This game screams to me that the people who made it had a LOT of ideas for it, but simply not enough time/ manpower to implement it all properly

My experience with No Man's Sky began with me saying fuck you mysterious red ball, I'm going to explore for myself....and then discovering that unless you say yes to the red ball there's nothing to do at all and it's nearly impossible to follow the red ball path again.

you know, i was JUST about to suggest that "the point" of this game was a meta concept for the pointlessness of life, and that NO video game has any REAL goal, its just to pass time, but then you actually said something like that. Most of the narrative that the Atlas spews (aka gibberish) asks serious psychological questions about the meaning of existence, and very subtly breaks the 4th wall, asking you, the player, what the fuck you are doing, and the Atlas itself questioning if it was just programmed to be deep bro.
fair enough, a lot of people felt that they didn't get their 60 bux worth, but i enjoy getting high and zooming through space until i find a star system with a pleasing color palette :)

I like how you used an image of a train from my home town of Perth, Western Australia. And considering the quality of the transportation your analogy was extra spicy....
Thinking about it and from what I heard about the studio here is what I think happened: They had an idea for a game, Sony came to them with a sack of cash and a contract "don't release on Xbone and we'll pay for your game" then their studio got flooded(this actually happened and was confirmed, now back to blind speculation) most of the way through development and suddenly they have this contract to release a game for Sony THIS console generation, after their work was destroyed, que what we got at release. I wouldn't say the original game would have been the next "Two Crude Dudes" but I doubt it would have been another "Dragon Age Origins".
"The game's moving at the breakneck pace of a tortoise and a slightly more dead tortoise" I honestly think I needed resuscitated after I passed out from laughing so hard.

my friend asked me what the "point" of this game was, to which I asked him why he has 30423832 hours into Diablo.
