It's difficult to regulate an activity which is itself illegal. If prostitution is illegal, there's less disincentive to engage in prostitution while having an STD, or to use children as prostitutes. Plus, criminalisation means more money for criminals, and using jail space for an action which is not inherently evil (and is frequently only done as a last resort for the utterly destitute.)
      So, not actually crazy.

There was a time, in Maryland, that it was legal drink, as long as you weren’t over the limit, which at the time, was 0.15 for DWI, and 0.10 for DUI. An officer seeing you drink from a beer can was not probable cause to pull you over. You had to violate the motor vehicle laws, such as drifting over the lines, or even drifting back and forth within your own lane. Of course, running red lights and stop signs and all the usual other violations count as well.

Just realized that child labor did NOT come from parents not loving their kids. If you had a son it meant that you had another farm hand. For the country you live in it meant another soldier. Its what makes a man useful... and believe it! The young little guys WANTED to help and be like their fathers and defend their family. It's what boys want to practice because its what makes a man.
Child labor where they are being payed wages and those wages are taxed and garnished etc doesn't happen. Forced child labor is rare in history and its not normal society and no one is arguing that.

Children worked in the USA, in those dangerous textile mills during the early 1900s and before..fingers and hands were lost in those huge looms. Kids didn't have to attend school even during the 1940s. So farmers were legally able to keep their sons out of school in order to work on the farm. Many male farm kids before 1940 were fully or partly illiterate. Those early cars didn't go very fast, so a drunk driving a model T at its top speed of 15 mph probably didn't cause much damage.

Not only is prostitution the oldest profession but I believe there’s an argument for it being the reason behind the development of cash money. Before it barter & credit would have been fine.
