In my small town in Pennsylvania, two inmates were just on the run for a couple weeks 2 months ago lol. Shiratori is actually a legend he escaped prison more than twice and said he never minded prison he was just abused so badly by the COs and had his trust betrayed so many times when that officer offered him a cigarette after hearing his story he sent him back to prison but the officer didn’t let the other COs treat him so bad this time and Shiratori finally didn’t need to escape anymore

When I was in a small county jail in Upstate NY in 1999, some 18-year-old with only 2 weeks left on his sentence attempted to escape and got stuck on barb wire near the roof and was screaming like a girl for help. He ended up having to be rescued by firefighters from a hydraulic ladder and then had an extra 3 years added to his sentence in a state prison. What a maroon!
I don't know why this particular thought popped into my head, but I'm imagining that an inmate is digging a hole somewhere outside at night, only to end up falling back inside through his prison cell's roof.
The prison id swap, that actually has happened in Indiana. An officer let them all the way out on second shift and it wasn’t caught until roll call the next day
Fun Fact Elmwood Correctional in Milpitas is directly across from an apt complex so they got front row seats to the guy climbing the building trying to escape, now it has 2 complexes next to it and a train station they asking for people to break out at this point

I know of a girl that escaped from Framingham State Prison in Framingham, MA. She was able to hop over both razor-wire fences and flee to Florida. Ironically, while she was in FL, there was a CO from the prison who happened to be vacationing in the same area. He recognized her, called the cops and she was arrested and sent back to MA. It's 10years for trying to hop the fence, she got 15 for actually making it over.
another convict era escapee from australia is moondyne joe, he escaped 3 times from fremantle prison in perth australia. they then built a entire customised cell just for him in isolation which i think he escaped from again but i dont know
9:47 he did this because he just wanted prisoners to have equal treatment because in his previous prisons they faced severe punishments for no reason some times with harsh treatment from guards.
Yoshie told the officer his identity because Yoshie's escapes were caused by abuse and trust issues from CO's. That was the first time he ever felt safe around an officer and the officer made sure he wasn't abused when he returned to jail so Yoshie stopped trying to escape since he was finally away from the abuse.
about Yoshie Shiratori: when it was mentioned he killed a farmer, in no way was it implied that it was an accident, which it was. Shiratori killed the farmer in self defense, but the court ruled against him. He was also originally convicted for a crime he didn't commit. context matters.
