When I saw the ending bit between Pat and Bob, I was heart wrenched. My dad had thoughts of suicide when my mom had left him a few years ago. They worked things out thankfully, but I was not expecting this to hit so hard not only in scares and atmosphere but emotion as well. That part where Bob said he wished he'd been a better friend reminded me so much of myself trying to be a better son for both my parents. This was amazing and you deserve all the praise. This was the most spine-chilling, and mind opening thing I've seen in a while. Much love and support.

its more of the opposite, squidward wants to have a vacation or to relax in many episodes but the only reason he is mean towards spongebob is because spongebob never leaves him alone
This is so high quality actually, everything about this remake feels great, it feels less empty than the original one and just more fitting in terms of spongebob and patrick feeling bad for him instead of making fun of him like in the original
It feels like the Red Mist itself is more of a state of mind than an entity or event. Almost like a visual depiction of a mental health spiral. The scene where that fish pleas with squidward and warns him of the coming Red Mist is so dissonant and so sudden, and I wanna say it’s a good representation of the first warning signs of declining mental health. The vague hint that something isn’t right. But squidward didn’t confront or recognize that in himself until he had already sunk well beyond the breaking point post-concert, and the Mist engulfs him that very night, when he’s alone with only his thoughts. You can even see SpongeBob beginning to experience that distortion just as Patrick came to talk to him. It’s a faint and eerie presence throughout the conversation, but it’s definitely not the oppressive Red Mist we saw earlier. Maybe that’s because SpongeBob’s getting the care and support he needs in that moment. A mental health crisis isn’t always as apparent from the outside as it is to the one suffering. That’s why it’s so important to check in if you start to see that something’s wrong. Even a small conversation, or a hug, or a thoughtful gesture can change everything. Y’all stay safe out there and be well tonight. Remember that you never have to suffer alone.
Hearing the spongebobs voice when he discovers squidward with his head blown to bits and the sirens (which in fact many medical sources state that sound is the last thing you can detect before your brain stops functioning) is what really hit me the most. It's really hard to imagine how suicide victims felt when they hear the screams of their family members discovering their loved one died. When this first came out, unironically when I watched this video, it stopped me from doing it and I got the help I needed. Like you say, you never have to suffer alone. Mental health is serious.
@@mytoasteroven2402 how can you tell that the Red Mist is a terrible state of mentality instead of an actual force or event or entity when you literally have a Squidward-like, pale entity that could represent Squidward’s humiliation and the suffering from his humiliation in the part where Squidward’s mentality and body was deteriorating in his bedroom and the part where 3 distorted, horrifying entities appear in the very end of this episode with whom one of them looks like Squidward and possibly represents the Red Mist? I mean, yes, the Red Mist means a fit of intense anger that temporarily clouds a person’s judgement in real life, but how would it be a state of mind in Squidward’s case when clearly there was a Squidward-like, pale entity in Squidward’s bedroom and a scary entity with the other two in the end of this episode who looked like Squidward and probably might’ve represented Squidward’s suffering and Red Mist? And besides, it looks like in this case, Squidward’s Red Mist PERMANENTLY clouded his judgement instead of just temporarily doing it.
To me it is real despair. Not mere hopelessness but black, malefic death. The pitfall of Squidward's life reached it's grizzly terminus and he saw distorted visions of himself, dark reflections and demons haunted him. It was the crushing weight of his hopes and dreams come to haunt him in a waking nightmare.
Probably Spongebob appearing faceless or with a censored face in some frames means that he was going to be the Red Mist next victim if Patrick didn't stopped his sadness from getting worse
I don’t know if it was because I was in a negative mood, but the scene where SpongeBob and Patrick were talking about Squidward’s death made me cry so bad. This is probably the only creepypasta I’ve seen that has made me feel something other than fear. Which is also something most creepypastas fail to do. Definitely one of the best creepypastas I’ve seen. I wish I can like twice.
this has to be the best red mist retake, it shows how serious a situation like this is instead of just trying to scare the shit out of you, this did the red mist creepypasta justice
"Thank you for telling me what you've just said earlier, I really needed it" "What thing?" They incorporated Patrick's humor. I'm convinced. This is a masterpiece.
The conversation between Spongebob and Patrick was oddly beautiful, it represents the feeling of loosing a loved one, and trying to go on in life, the scene felt like a warm hug someone gives you to feel better. On top of that everything else was also fantastic. It really caught me off guard with the little jumpscares.
Scary, heart wrenching and an incredibly realistic rendition instead of being edgy for the sake of it, I have no words, this is a masterpiece dude. I love it 100000000/10
I feared for jumpscares, yet none came. This was one of the scariest videos I've seen though, and you demonstrated that you don't need jumpscares or loud sudden noises to scare people. This conveyed horror and fear and depression in ways I didn't expect. You deserve a like
Depression is a hell of it's own. To whomever deals with depression. You're never alone, you're loved and people care about you. To those who lost loved ones to suicide. I'm so sorry and I hope that mental health issues are discussed more.
I love how this isn't just edgy and unrealistic "Squidward killed himself 😱😱😱" type of ordeal but more of a realistic depiction and that conversation between Pat and SpongeBob at the end. Damn... Great job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
FR THO THAT'S LITERALLY HOW ALL OLD CREEPYPASTAS ARE LIKE! they're always so unrealistic cheesy cringey and edgy and don't forget the ooh so hyper-realistic blood!
Such a beautiful retake on Red Mist. Also, the part where Spongebob said "Thank you for telling me what you've just said earlier, I really needed it" hitted me like a bullet train since Spongebob is a very nice character whom I can relate too.
Including the fact that SpongeBob glitches when he says something sometimes in a certain conversation implies that if it wasn’t for Patrick coming in with the conversation SpongeBob would have kicked the bucket as well.
As somebody who rolls my eyes at the meaningless shock value of the original Squidward's Suicide/Red Mist I really like this take. I like how the whole 'ooo pictures of dead children how spoooooky' shit is replaced with vague imagery of eldritch horrors that leaves room for imagination while not being unnecessarily edgy, you know? The characterisation and lack of any 'hyperrealism' makes this actually feel like a rough draft of a Spongebob episode.
@@neo-filthyfrank1347 that would be cool but sadly youtube would definitely take it down and it would be highly disrespectful to show someone’s dead child on screen
this one honestly made me feel extremely sad, like in the original Red Mist the suicide feels like it was purely for shock value but here it's genuinely kinda heart breaking but also still really creepy

This is what red mist could have been. This feels way more scarier then the actual Creepypasta it’s self. The fact the unfinished animation and voice acting makes it more creepy and so uncanny. It reminds a lot of the analog that this decade is going through. There’s more detail. I feel like this is similar to the sonic.exe situation where someone made it an entire analog series off of it. And it was actually good. This is really good.
I love that the Red Mist isn’t just a creepypasta anymore. Its a perfect representation of struggling with suicide thoughts. Thank you comment section, for going further in detail.
5:24 ergh, I could just picture spongebob walking into squidwards house and finding him with his face ripped to shreds and blood everywhere... and then shouting Patrick’s name in terror and shock... that part actually made me feel ill. I never really cared for red mist but your interpretation of it is outstanding. Marvelous job sir 👍
the issue is that shotgun damage doesn't do that, it completely obliterates the face, leaving a red mush in place, not shredding and leaving strands of skin so, i think squidward attempted to fend off that thing, and then it killed him, but probably not, probably not...
That ending is perfect. Literally perfect. The “squidward! Squidward? SQUIDWAAAAAAA-“ line is a perfect representation of either finding, or finding out someone close to you has killed themselves and the conversation between spongebob and Patrick afterwards almost made me cry
This seems a lot more accurate to the version I read myself. It also has just… you know… That vibe of “this was never supposed to be seen with human eyes” you get me?
Follow up: In the other versions, nobody included the dead kids, or squidward burning in hell at the end. The conversation between SpongeBob and Patrick seems much sadder than it was in the story. I love it! This is better than the original.
5:27 this scene made me shit my pants (not literally but it was very disturbing) the fact that you can hear spongebob walk into squidwards house after hearing the shotgun and screaming squidwards name after seeing his body is absolutely nerveracking. And the fact that your hearing is the last thing to stop functioning after you die adds to that creepiness factor.
You can also hear a door creaking before he screams(most likely SpongeBob opening the room door) and also spongebobs footsteps as he runs towards squidward
The Red Mist in this version looks like a symbolism for all the dark thoughts and negative emotions of our minds. All the things that sometimes don't even exist anywhere except inside of our heads that can strike us to the extreme any time, but only if we let them do.
Hearing SpongeBob walking in to see Squidward dead followed by sirens just fucking broke me. I'm going through my own shit and it's always the fact that you know what pain the people closest to you will go through if you choose to give up. But just as importantly so, the tone of this entire video puts into perspective how fucking terrifying death is. This video may have genuinely scared me away from ending it. And for that, I may just have to thank you if I ever come back later.
The music at the end where SpongeBob and Patrick share a heartfelt conversation between each other in regards to Squidward's suicide is so calming. It's like seeing the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
THIS. This is the version of Patrick that we're missing in modern SpongeBob. He may be dumb, but he's not a monster. He genuinely cares about SpongeBob and acts more like his Season 1 self.
i like that this is honestly sadder than scarier, kinda made me cry, super well made. also i like the part where spongebob screams squidward and sirens are heard but you can't really see anything, since (i think) the ability to hear is the last thing to go after dying
I absolutely love this retake of Red Mist, The style here mimicking the original show is a neat touch, The added details of how the story is, is very interesting, I overall love this a lot. Great job, my friend! 🐞🐞🐞
Not only it is scary, it's sad, I love when Vibingleaf adds up the emotions that's necessary for the settings, or drop down the fear when it wasn't really needed
Not gonna lie, this really feels like the actual Red Mist episode. I especially like that it appears to still be in the development phase, with subtitles in place of unfinished voice acting and animation stills that would eventually be replaced with full animation. Well made, man.
Not gonna lie, this absolutely mops the floor with both the original Red Mist and Squidward’s Suicide! My biggest gripe with SS/RM (besides the constant tense-swapping, the intern bs, and pretty much everything) was that there wasn’t much to it. It was just done to shock you. You took Squidward’s… well, suicide, and gave it an actual impact. You gave Red Mist a proper ending. Good work man!
The fact that Patrick shows real responsibility and the fact that he’s aware of these sorts of things makes me feel like Patrick isn’t what everybody thinks he is.
For some reason this scares me more than the “Hyper-Realistic Eyes”. Maybe because I’ve never actually seen the SpongeBob style in a scary way like this. This is really well done. 👍
5:49 which is the start of "A Certain Conversation" hits different. We've all experienced loss or heartbreak and I think this section speaks a lot for the aftermath of events like these. I remember when I heard about the death of family and especially one of my old friends and I didn't know how to feel or cope initially since it's such a devastating blow to your life and it can be hard to accept as fact. We only appreciate what we've lost and it's hard to talk about it. Just talking to somebody about it can change your life for the better.
Yeah, I've had a friend commit earlier this year. When I did first hear of it I kinda didn't know what to think, but as time went on the realization set in that they're gone, and I won't ever see them again. It truly was heartbreaking. I've moved on from it now, but it still makes me feel bad that someone felt it necessary to end their own life as a last resort for happiness.
Translation of the scenes with no context 0:29 squidward: i wonder who that could be 0:34 squidward: hello! 1:14 squidward: can you two barnacle heads quit it!!! 1:20 spongebob: sorry squidward! 2:28 random fish: boo you stink 2:33 squidward: wait! wait! 3:03 squidward: i guess life isnt what it seems... 3:50 squidward: its probably just in my head! right? 4:17 squidward: AAAAAAHH!!! WHO GOES THERE!!!!!!! 4:46 squidward: I GUESS THERES ONLY ONE WAY OUT
To be honest, this was the only thing that scared me when I was young. I knew ghosts weren't real, nor was I scared of Slenderman or any other creepypasta.. however Red Mist was completely different.. I don't remember being too terrified, but whenever I was in a dark space it defiantly crossed my mind. This was back in 5th grade,
Everything from the VHS filter, to the horror elements, to way the story plays out, is so well done that I don't even know where to start. Amazing. The only thing I would add is animation, but I can understand cutting down on that to get it out in a reasonable amount of time.
This is so sad, the fact the SpongeBob yelled out is name. This is proof that suicidal thoughts, and having horrible mental health can lead to suicide. The red mist is basically a metal health problem that some fishes get, and the fish that walked up to Squidward warning him about the red mist, was most likely a ghost telling him that its coming for him.
THIS, IS ABSOLUTELY *phenomenal* the effort you put into this is insane, and i am so glad this video finally came to be! it's amazing, and definitely deserves to be more known!! thank you for your hard work Leaf, and take care!! 🙏
This is way better than the original, it doesn't turn SpongeBob and Patrick into scary monsters, they are friends and they always will be, it doesn't use random horror tactics, it does a actual story that has a "certain conversation" which can be used as a life lesson. Amazing work, and i hope this video gets the attention it deserves!
Despite how it may seem I feel like the lack of animation kinda ads to the nature of this recreation of Red Mist. The stagnation of the video itself helps add to not only the tone but the atmosphere, and it helpes alot in turning such a mid-creepypasta into a masterpiece. This is probably the best recreation of Red Mist, and redeemed most of the creepypasta to me, and for that. I say thanks.
My personal favorite part is the complete rework of Spongebob and Patrick's role in the creepypasta. This rendition makes them feel more faithful to the characters themselves, much rather than just saying 'oh they booed Squidward off because it is mean and will make him die, wdym thats out of character...'
The lack of animation and voice acting makes it feel like some kind of demo reel for some kind of psa episode that never got past the demo reel and tbh I really like that vibe since I never really liked the idea that in the og red mist creepypasta that the episode was just made by some random ass animator who went insane and somehow made an episode that looks just like a spongebob episode by himself with the same voices the actual characters have despite no voice actors being involved
This had to be one of the best recreations, if not THE best recreation of red mist that I’ve ever seen. The art style, drawings, everything was so on point and wow that ending was beautiful... it hit so close to home there. You did a FANTASTIC job at this project and I hope one day you get even better at your projects. Good job man
that last bit of spongebob and patrick having a conversation really hit hard. patricks advice to spongebob is one of the most heart warming things ive seen in a long time. ur effort into this video is phenomenal and you deserve alot of praise
I gotta say, this is the best remake imo, I love the new analog horror feel it has, and it actually feels more like a SpongeBob episode, like how the audience didn’t respond and Squidward decided to just get to playing, and how there was that joke where Patrick couldn’t remember what he just said, just like a real episode from the show, u did an amazing job on this bud 👍
When you think about it, SpongeBob would’ve also done the same as Squidward if it wasn’t for Patrick. The guilt would’ve just driven him to also experience the red mist. It’s a vicious cycle in which even Patrick may have done the same thing after as well
I love how at 2:43 he just stares at you you think its going to be a junoscare but no it just unnerves you a great scene to set the arrival of the red mist
The last scene really hit hard. When someone you love does this kind of atrocity to you, you can only live with it, and carry it on with you for as long as you live.
Now seeing this, the Red Mist seems to be a sort of "wave of suicides". The Red Mist also reminds me of an effect some toxic algeas have on the ocean by releasing a red compound. Instead of causing death in the typical sense, it causes self destructive behavior and severe depression/anxiety. Or it could also be that it exacerbates our feelings of self disdain and hatred, thus causing all of this
@@miguibaylon9791maybe not in a necessarily canon sense in the grand scheme of Vibing Leaf's retake series (I've seen some posts of Vibing Leaf on possibly adapting Zalgo: this OP demon that corrupts all media & stuff), but I guess that this is technically the most sensible form it could take to look "natural". (This is theoretical in terms of how "canon" it is here tho)
A thing I like is how his.. uh.. Self Die, to put it "nicely", Seems to be caused by the red mist. He seemed to still be upset by the failed concert, but he didn't overreact nor care that much. He was down, but not fucking suicidal just from some boo-ing. Another thing, though, I like how it has this fine blend of Authentic Spongebob Vibes, and Horror, all without ruining the horror. Like, It starts goofy, and it gradually gets more and more into the Horror side of things, Even when Squidward was walking around his room at night, It had the goofy walk sound.

Holy fuck, that’s one hell of a family, nice he’s fine and doing well.

The sad fact spongebob always be nice to squid even squidward was rude to spongebob for more than 100+ episodes
its more of the opposite, squidward wants to have a vacation or to relax in many episodes but the only reason he is mean towards spongebob is because spongebob never leaves him alone
Yeah like at 2:40 when the background gets dark that indicates squidwards mental health dying beyond return
@@bastardhyena7882 I’m so glad you’re okay, dude. I wish you the smoothest road to wellness possible.

The red mist is basically a metal health problem that some fishes get, and the fish that walked up to Squidward warning him about the red mist, was most likely a ghost telling him that its coming for him.
also i like that whenever a character dies in a creepypasta you do a funeral for them or something like that at the end.
THIS, IS ABSOLUTELY *phenomenal*
the effort you put into this is insane, and i am so glad this video finally came to be! it's amazing, and definitely deserves to be more known!!
thank you for your hard work Leaf, and take care!!
The lack of animation and voice acting makes it feel like some kind of demo reel for some kind of psa episode that never got past the demo reel and tbh I really like that vibe since I never really liked the idea that in the og red mist creepypasta that the episode was just made by some random ass animator who went insane and somehow made an episode that looks just like a spongebob episode by himself with the same voices the actual characters have despite no voice actors being involved
im not scared, im crying, really

that last bit of spongebob and patrick having a conversation really hit hard. patricks advice to spongebob is one of the most heart warming things ive seen in a long time. ur effort into this video is phenomenal and you deserve alot of praise
Yeah same with 3:45
Um Idk what to say
The last scene really hit hard. When someone you love does this kind of atrocity to you, you can only live with it, and carry it on with you for as long as you live.
Exactly

Ay call me dumb but I don’t think people commit suicide because they want to commit an atrocity to their loved ones 💀

Wow i can tell there was a lot of effort into making this video! The art and even the story was awesome.
