Instead of eating sweets and cakes, I replace them with Greek yogurt and nuts, instead of using alcohol and tobacco, I replace those addictions with lifting weights, at 62, it’s the best decision I’ve made so far.
I usta love having chocolate even when dieting but I’ve been having Greek yogurt with blueberries & I’m not that hungry after so I don’t want the chocolate bar it’s helped a lot
Thank you for all of the fantastic comments everyone. I've loved working with Dodge on this and I am so glad that this talk has already helped so many people. Good work Dodge for spreading this word on his platform.
You were fantastic Layla ☀️
What a wake up call !! 😮I’ll be using that Yuka app definitely
I wish you would have this lady on once a month, so she can go in depth on the relationship between body, health and processed sudo foods. People just don't understand they are essentially being poisoned thru ignorance. She would make a fantastic recurring guest..
Refreshing to hear an academic person who actually calls out commercial brainwashing
@@petermooney2016 Hmm so your trying to say sugar is healthy?
@@remad1777 sugar isnt unhealthy, its unhealthy to consume in large amounts.
@@Oxnaforda I think the point is how its commercialised as safe and innocent yet it can be just as damaging as other things
20 mins and downloaded yuka in a heartbeat!! Works a treat!!!
Thank you both.
That is a fascinating and terrifying conversation in equal measure.
Dopamine peaking while watching this, ,,absolutely brilliant information ❤
I dumped sugar 3 months ago, best decision I’ve ever made. Its transformed my health, I’ve lost weight, all my aches and pains have gone away, my gut health is superb, my skin looks healthier, my cholesterol is down and I have so much more energy. I eat no processed foods anymore and eat healthy fats.
When I started my journey, I became obsessed with sugar comtent in food and its truly horrific, you’d be amazed what foods have sugar added.
Wow! This resonates with me so much. I tick every box you have discussed and often think about my lifestyle. This is the first time in my life that I've actually sat up and taken note. The app is a real eye opener. Thank you so much for putting this together. I've now started my little steps to overall change.
What a lovely lady. Educated, compassionate and helpful.
What an absolute eye opener Dodge, Layla and this podcast not be too dramatic may just have change/save life’s. I thought my diet was better than most but the milk drink example just blew my mind on how deceiving the packaging can be. I just downloaded Yuka and scanned the contents of my fridge to better my knowledge of what I’m actually eating. Brilliant conversation in promoting men’s health 👏🏻
Layla is fantastic mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Literally just had a blood test result. High sugar levels and in danger of type 2 diabetes plus abnormal cholesterol. The shit I eat is insane. Need to make changes and get back to playing squash after a 2 year rut.
If anyone wants to lose weight and has always struggled with certain diets just eat meat eggs and cheese, trust me it will change your life, it’s the best and easiest diet to follow. It’s not like you’re even dieting to lose weight, you’re just eating whenever you’re hungry
I went to the gym for years always trying to lose weight and eat the right things but would always snack on bad things but overall I would always try and eat decent food or what I thought was decent food but never lost weight, I tried counting calories and being in a calorie deficit but could never stick to it it was always too hard for me to follow after 4/5 days in.
I finally quit the gym about 2 months ago, I now just eat meat eggs and cheese every day and I have lost 12 kg and I don’t even work out anymore it’s honestly crazy.
When you’re ever frying anything make sure you use a proper butter for frying and not oils, Kerrygold Irish butter is what I use.
Wow! That was an eye opener. I am that overweight 50 year old, not really giving much thought to my health and diet.....until now! Keep up the good work Dodge 👍🙂.
Downloaded this app,all I can say is thank you x
Also just downloaded the Yuka app. What a brilliant tool.
Very informative and positive without judgement. Thank you, Dodge 🙏
Dodge, proper eye open on this episode, I've suffer from high bloody pressure and high cholesterol, I'm in the stages now of completely cutting out sugar. Well episode has given some such appreciated insights
Thank you josh
Another great podcast mate 👍. Brilliant to see you go down the more scientific men's health avenue, it's definitely a subject that needs more airtime.
I hope this podcast reaches as many men as possible! It would be interesting to hear Layla's view on ultra-processed vegan food 🧐
Dodge absolutely fantastic mate. Layla came across fantasticly. I loved the fact that due to your prior knowledge of the subject you could lend your experience and understanding to the conversation.
Real eye opener… scanned everything around the house ranging from food to face creams using the Yuka app and lets say I’ve dumped the lot!🤣
Fascinating. Something I had long suspected in relation to the food industries. You have to be so careful what you are buying.
April 2023 I experienced mild chest pain , diagnosed with having a mild heart attack, by May 2023 I underwent heart surgery. I needed a Quadruple heart bypass. I am only 52
Been off of sugar for the last 6 months. Feel great and my diet is completely full of real food now. It’s helped me whilst running my business, a lot more energy, which took me by surprise. Wife’s been doing it for 3 months now,she feels, looks great too and cooking more. Also no seed oils 🤮 either 👌🏻. Also I convinced my mate who’s in he’s 50’s and had psoriasis all his life to cut sugar out of his diet…. It’s completely cleared up. He spent thousands on injection, weird creams and all sorts of diets. Pleased you did this podcast, I can send it to people whilst I’m giving them a lecture why to stop consuming sugar 😂.
A big problem with healthy eating is the cost of living crisis. I've heard my old boss on the phone with his wife saying yeah I'll have some salmon tonight. Another day, yeah we'll have a rib eye steak tonight. I'm thinking... I have a family of 4 to feed! What he and his wife are eating over 3 days is my weekly shopping bill 😮😔 I know we can definitely still make positive changes to our diet, but you definitely need a few quid to eat proper healthy food. It's just not that simple for some families. Great informative podcast though. Changes will be made! I have the Yuka app now. Been scanning everything. What an eye opener 😂
wow a no most of the symple stuff but this was truely a head job for me but possitive well done dodge for getting this lovely honest layla on board
Great cast Dodge I went to my doctors about 15 months for free MOT I was touching diabetic mate because I put down the drugs and booze I picked up sugar.
So I went of to slimmers world for about 11 months I lost a stone and half and I’ve maintained that also I used the 12 steps because I’m a food addict as well.
For me it’s all about changing that mind set don’t get me wrong I have a blow out once a week on a Saturday but on the whole taking as much sugar out of my diet has completely transformed my life 💙✌️🙏
Scaring the shit out of me this is and I'm only half way through. Just started a 3 day fast hoping I can begin to reset my gut. Thanks Dodge
Really scary listening to this one dodge...im in the mid 40s bracket, who has kicked the arse out of it!! Have an active job , so keeps the weight down to an extent...but the inside of my body is feeling it!! Feel sluggish and depressed regular 😮.. deffo time to really start changing my diet massively
Thank you Dodge this was so insightful and informative - Layla was wonderful and knowledgeable 👍
I’m totally getting on board with this especially after seeing facebook videos with Eddie Abbew . I’m a month in and I reckon I’ve lost around 4” off my waist line . I still have the odd biscuit and chocolate bar but I’m trying to change my brain and not have these as my go to . My real concern is people’s financial predicaments and that process foods are the affordable go to’s .
13:27 my old man said never accept a mars bar off anyone ,I think that would of been for a different reason looking back
Great Podcast Dodge. It's exactly like the smoking advertisements back in the day. People are not fully aware whats going into their bodies. Its crazy!! That Sugar Film is a brilliant film which touches on what you discussed on the podcast.#poundaman
Absolutely brilliant !!!!!!
Cost of living + Price of eating well is the biggest problem, small pack of blueberries same price as 20 packs of crisps in some places
Brilliant again
Top listen as always dodge my favorite podcast !
Listening to this while driving a tanker with 28 ton of sugar in 😮 feel like driving it into a lake
Fantastic viewing. Well done .
Longevity tax😬 As someone currently suffering from sugar addiction, that 2 words hits hard
Absolutely golden this information what a eye opener 💯 top man Dodge 👌👍
Great podcast! 👍🏻
Listening to this I can't believe I'm still alive I'm a 37 year old male And ive had an eating disorder since age 3 Called ARFID (Avoidance Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) I only eat 9 different foods that are - Sausages, bacon, potato croquettes, potato waffles, chips, white bread biscuits crisps and chocolate same stuff every day since 1990 just been told I'm pre diabetic level 46 god only knows what else I've got!!🤔
Enjoyed this one dodge, I've been on the health kick for the past year or so now and 100% can say cut sugar out of your diet and hit the gym and you'll feel the benefits sooner than you think, health is wealth 💪
Great work mate 💪🏼
this was very very helpful, different from your other podcasts but just as enjoyable, the difference though is this was alarming and the story told here wasn't good overcoming bad, like the inspirational life stories of your guests, this was the story of Bad overcoming good.and its killing us. please don't let this be the only podcast on this Dodge, its too important, and again you showed yourself to be a savvy interviewer who helped get this across with Layla in a style that was informative as well as shocking...
Good man Paul 👍🏼👍🏼
I think it can be a vicious circle with regards to the big lads I know, they comfort eat and drink alcohol due to mental health issues. They are too depressed to exercise and their joints are getting battered. I personally think it's another way of depressed men slowly killing themselves and not caring (a form of suicide). Thank you for this video I'm over weight and have asked my wife to hide cakes etc as it's an addiction for me, I also need to find a sport I enjoy. It would be interesting to see how much sugar is in these whey protein shakes and creatine etc
Informative Lady 👍
Let’s all jump on the snow then guys. LOL very interesting
I've chosen the right nutritionist! It's nice to here someone knows about the myth about fat and sugar
The world needs this info it is a pandemic with itself!! More of this dodge!! Top man 🎉
This is the real pandemic a silent one that is happening every minute of the day.
Listen to the glucose goddess, she is the original glucose expert.
Her cookbook changed my life, literally having tried and failed diets, i saw her podcast and followed her way of eating, my god !! Dropped 9kg, easily, eating really tasty food in a certain way.... ive got loads of energy, no lows and highs in moods, no cravings and im never hungry. Trust me, might take a week or 3 to adapt, but the shit your buying isnt food, educate yourself. 😊
Yuka is brilliant 👏 👌
Great podcast.
Brilliant refreshing!! First look was thinking ahh it must be the krays niece or sumin judging by dodges past guests 😂… variety at its best!
Dodge she needs a part 2 and 3 great insight this .. what was the app called again ?
The yuka app :-)
@@LaylaGordonNutrition thanks Layla 👍
Amazing episode. Yuka downloaded. Too late for me (57), but I'm going to look after me now.
I’ve received been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, I’d be intrigued to know if my horrendous diet over the last 15 years or so have contributed to this as docs never mentioned it
Belter this Dodge and bloody frightening to be honest. I thought the one with the property lad was good. He won me over in the end even though I wouldn’t even spend a £1 to listen to his bilge. Decent lad in the end. I thought you were top notch in your questioning and pressing as his answers changed from one sentence to the next. Class. I loved the one with the Bolton lad about his business. Great lad and openly honest. Interesting story and fair play to them. Keep em coming mate.
Nice one Andrew 👍🏼👍🏼
Wow 🤩 FANTASTIC SMASHED IT AGAIN .. ‼️🏴🇬🇧🏴 😎
Fantastic interview and insight to the damage we did ourselves unknowingly.
Ime struggling with sugar again after a fantastic couple of years without it,a real eye opening experience.
Is there any link to muscle cramping and malfunction with sugar overload? Ime cramoing up all over after/during simple tasks as bending and stetching, and gripping etc, feel dreadfull all over but trying to cut sugar out again but its a struggle. Thanks for the great info
A mango has more sugar (45g) than a can of coke (39g). I think as long as you work hard you'll keep healthy... if you're getting a bit of a belly, work harder. Loving the channel Dodge 👍
Massive difference between natural and artificial sugar though mate haha. Not to mention all the chemicals what come a long with things like fizzy drinks. You'll be a million times healthier eating a mango a day rather than drinking a can of coke 😂
@rosse6705 your body cannot actually tell the difference between natural sugar and processed sugar. The title is Cocaine v Sugar, so whilst I absolutely agree that consuming processed chemicals is bad news, based on sugar alone a mango worse than a can of coke. I would certainly say said can of coke (or even the mango for that matter) would be healthier options than cocaine 😅
I can't get the Yuka app In New Zealand, is there an equivalent?
Brilliant one this dodge she’s great 👍
I gave up sugar years ago…easy!
I’m sure I could give up coke and crack anytime!
This is so right 😢😢
Really enjoyed this one. Must watch health wise
Very interesting dodge I had terrible stomach problems for over 24 months up n down to A&E being palmed of with.painkillers being told 4/5 different things on separate visits to A&E sitting there for hours on end which stressed me right out that I felt like topping myself basically wasted my time , I changed my diet caffeine free cut sugar out im not a alcohol drinker in 18 months I went to A&E once instead of, no exaggeration 20+ times in 2yrs , what a difference changing diet and thee other poisons we are putting in our bodies and non the wiser to what we are being sold disgusting...Great podcast thanks 👍.. That app Yuka tried it out at home can't wait to go shopping , Great app.
Glad for you mt
Well done mate and glad you enjoyed the episode 💛
I've shared . Cheers dodge 👌
Thanks steve👍 @stevenfinch9026
Well done Tony 👏👏 good luck with your diet
Great Segway into health Dodge definitely a real eye opener, really enjoyed it don't drink anymore but definitely have to much sugar, I've cut it out immediately since watching this wake up call for sure...
The apps really good to, shocking when you start scanning everything and realized pretty everything in the cupboard is bad 0/100
Such a positive thing you did here, just think how many people you might have helped from this junk... Well done Layla and Dodge 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow I didn’t know that Dodge about the Booze mind blowing gear 💙✌️🙏
I'm not sure how true this is but I've heard that one of the health representatives/ a health minister within the UK government is married to a CEO of one of the sugar companies..
Yes our "health secretary" Victoria Atkins is married to Paul Kenward, the managing director of British Sugar. Couldn't make this sh!t up 😅
Probably true
@@BEYONDTHEPHYSICALBODY were f-ck-d
I'm confused because I wouldn't say I am addicted to sugar trust me if I could see something has no sugar I'd pick that option easy, the problem today in the uk is everything you buy has been pumped with sugars and its hard to know nowadays what contains sugar and what doesn't
I'm 33 years old male this is eye opening
Fabulous podcast Dodge. Asked exactly the tight questions. Simplyfying everything. I have been on Keto for a month. Only eating whole foods. I feel amazing. I have always been a carb/sugar addict. Dr Sten Ekberg has some amazing videos but this sugar pandemic should be a warning call to all of us. Thanks again fot this podcast Dodge
Another interesting vid , yeah sugar not good stuff causes soo many illnesses..hope your well fell👍
Glad I listened this morning we all need to seriously cut out all the bullshit, similar message to Eddie Abbew he would be another great guest
Thanks for this one Dodge much needed
My pleasure Nathan.
It’s a proper eye opener and will certainly make you think twice about what food & drink you put in your mouth 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for your reply mate!!
Yeah I actually got the Yuka app off the back of this episode. I was saying about it to my barber yesterday, I scanned a packet of sandwich Turkey from Co op and the bloody thing came up as poor because of additives. And guess what - even Jaffa oranges have preservatives and additives in them!! honestly mate you've done a great job getting this lady in, I wouldn't probably have watched her on someone else's channel.
Nice one brother
Eddie Abbew would explain this too
Since Covid, trying to get a doctor show any interest is impossible, but they still get their 250 grand a year
Great podcast
Some good info there but like she said it's an addiction but yet didn't give any info of help for that addiction. There's help out there for drink & drunk addiction but help is there for sugar?
Very interesting, she knows her onions so to speak.
Layla mentioned cereal for breakfast as bad. Did she mention porridge? Is porridge ok ? Porridge seems to be getting a bad rap lately
Interview Durianrider. He is in Australia though so online. He is interesting, funny and consumes huge amounts of sugar to get and stay thin.
Thanks for heads up and I’ll reach out to him Andrew 👍🏼👍🏼
Plus in the gym and hot yoga 3/4 times a week may be more and golf
And the internet once again brings up this notion of sugar being more addictive than cocaine when multiple studies have shown it doesn’t fit through criteria ALONE for addictive properties
Markus et al 2017 and Westwater 2018 have already shown this
It’s 2024 people get a grip!
Highly processed foods that ALSO includes high amounts of fat MAY have addictive qualities but not sugar alone
Great video I now realise I’m the perfect weight but the wrong height 😂 joking aside this is a real eye opening video
This podcasts makes me scared to eat anything now bread tin of peas 😮
It's not just sugar another one is CITRIC ACID. Look at your labels it's in everything and no it's not from lemons etc it's industrialy made from black mold ! Go look it up and see what it can cause.
It’s all about the money without doubt it’s disgraceful behaviour 🤬
No way today I've had a can of coke a galaxy big chocolate cookie bar and a caramel Cadburys also big im f*ukin toast 😢
Swap all that sugar for apples and bananas then feel your energy levels go thru the roof. It will take you a month until you start craving all your sugar thru fruit..
This really annoys me about this country's foods I got diagnosed as a diabetic type 1 at the age of 16 an now im 45 im suffering from all the other ailments that come with that but what they put in foods should be illegal there's sugars which this podcasts covers palm oil, coconut oil, saturated fats saltsway beyond the recommended daily allowance these products should not be aloud to be used in foods even processed foods are know proven to cause cancer even a tin of tuna has small pieces of micro plastics from the machines that that can the foods plus the plastics in the ocean looked the other day how much an to eat healthy in the u.k costs 10-15% more than buying cheap food which most people theses days can't afford something needs to change
This is horrifying
I hope James Smith PT sees this video
I’ve just sent him a WhatsApp of the trailer
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@DodgeWoodall He's got some good views on sugar consumption that can create a good debate to what Layla has said. Both great.
@@DodgeWoodall he A C-----t and lying pt and dose not what he doing read his book it so bad in my opinion bad pt
Right about sugar but there are problems in your cholesterol argument. Check out Malcolm Kendrick, David Diamond and of course Robert Lustig
Selling 3 for £100 on the sherbet dib dabs. 👍
😂😂😂
Everything in moderation i have been fasting now for at least 4 months ive been a bodybuilder for 14 years every two weeks i have a treat day where i consume sugar treats, alcohol a nice meal out and thats just on a Saturday every two weeks and my normal bodybuilding diet in the two weeks leading up to that yes i have suger free things but also a lot of fruit, vegetables and nuts i also have one sugar free energy drink in a morning like i said everything in moderation.
Alcohol is addictive also
I haven’t watched the video but after reading the thumbnail title, I’m going to assume this is a “comparison/ Vs” type conversation. I personally prefer cocaine. However if it’s rice crispies, I prefer to sprinkle sugar. Then cocaine.
Sugar doesn’t really get a look in during after parties. Racking up sugar lines in the toilet just doesn’t seem right to me.
There, that’s my input. I hope it helps.
😂😂😂
One of the best vids dodge, sorry to all the hard nuts lol
