Ichiban gets out of prison and in few days gets himself a company which he turns into mega-corp,meanwhile Kiryu after who knows how many years drives a taxi....
But i mean Kiryu already was a real state agent who had trillions of yens, like he doesn't need that busy famous life again.
Hey, to be fair Kiryu was the head of a real estate agency worth a billion yen in the 80s so I guess he lived through that in his time...
The man already lived the rich life, he invested trillions in himself because Bacchus told him so.
Bruh, Kiryu ate ¥29 trillion, made himself dragon of Dojima, ran a sprawling real estate firm with trillions in his pocket and a golden state worth ¥10 billion in his office.

Man the second commercial are legit good. The scenery, the voice over, and the drone shot is the typical big corporate commercial. The only thing makes this funny is how serious ichiban is with that hair physics.
What people are used to: Well-dressed and surgically clean corporate executives
What this game offers: A man dragon with a weird afro

It's weird that they're advertising for a multifaceted parent company rather than a specific business though. Ichiban Holdings can own a candy store, hostess clubs, electronic stores, ball fields, and all sorts of other stuff, so what's a customer supposed to want to do after they see that commercial?
But I'm just ranting because I missed seeing the senbei commercial after my business got too big.
At the same time it's inherently more soulless and filled with stock corporate speech compared to the commercial from when they were a small company, which I can't help but feel like it was intentional on the part of the developers and how becoming big changes you.
Yakuza IS a serious crime drama. It’s just everything around it that’s absolutely crazy.

This. RGG Studios realizes that you need some silliness to distract you from the serious.
I mean, would it even be the same series we all fell in love with if it wasn’t silly?
If you follow the main story it’s usually pretty dark, heavy, emotional and serious. But most of the side activities are wacky, ridiculous and out of this world. A perfect combination for me.

Every time I get the prompt to do the commercial, I watch it through.
I love that the English VA plays up the silliness with Ichiban in the Substories, but also acts his ass off in the serious heartbreaking scenes in the main story. Kaiji is great, and I hope to hear him in Yakuza 8.
Makes one wonder who would make good villains in Yakuza 8. I was thinking of the corrupt police commissioner Horinouchi and his very young wife Yumeno given how their privileged lifestyles took a turn after the end of Like a Dragon.

@@AC11Milan Please no, it was okay in Yakuza 4 but it was so ANNOYING in 5, they were going with this really ambitious story that fell flat on it's face, the only good thing that came out of 4 and 5 was Saejima and Shinada
Akiyama was meh for me (his voice was really nice to hear though)
Point is, multiple protagonists don't really work if the protagonists themselves aren't even interesting or given time to develop (Tanimura) (Saejima too to some extent) they should just stick with one guy so he can be developed better.

Pretty crazy that it's the English version that has a Japanese commercial-esque jingle.
I love how the first commercial is hilarious in both versions for different reasons. In Japanese, Ichiban's delivery of "I SURE AM" is pure perfection, but in the dub, the little jingle is so dumb that it's endearing (and legit catchy). This game has so much soul it's incredible
He says in Japanese: 私が社長です! (WATASHI GA SHACHŌ DESU!)

Love the little details that the english version of the 1st has a little tune to go with "Eat at Ichiban's, Ichiban Senbei!" Thats real cute. The dub really takes a step up.
I betting everyone was laughing their ass off in the studio when they recorded this. I can just imagine the voice director say “Ok Kaiji can you sound like a ASMR guy really quick.”
Kaiji used his commercial voice over powers for that one, hahahaha.

B) That's my point. The plot completely glosses over the fact that he is potentially one of the most important figures in the region, and just paints him as a fringe candidate.

I like that they gave the English version of the first one a little jingle
I feel like it makes more sense to play it in Japanese, with the honorifics and how the enemies still speak Japanese and all, but Keiji Tang did such a fantastic job as Ichi, I didn't want to miss his performance.
