That’s awesome I’m getting my horse in the Spring! I finally talked my parents into it for my 16th birthday! I’m so excited😆 I’ve ever owned my own horse but did lots of shows with my friends horses and 4H I got reserve grand champion in contesting my first year riding!

my trainer is selling my dream horse and my parents would let me buy it but they don't know how to take care of a horse..they aren't convinced that I can take care of her. I wanted to build just a stall/barn connected to a pasture and keep her at out house ...we have 5 acres but fingers crosses

You are definitely my favorite equestrian UA-camr. Your videos are informative and to the point. You're not snobby or entitled which is really nice because although I wanted horses my entire life the area I grew up in did not allow me to have a horse so now at 22 I live on my own and really want to get a horse someday in the near future but I have a lot to learn. I find that a lot of people at the equestrian community aren't the nicest to newbies. It also helps that we live in the same state! :) you're awesome keep doing what you're doing!

Here’s the list:
-Halter (Recommend- Rope halter)
-Lead rope
-Lunge line (optional at first)
-grooming kit
-Hoof dressing (for cracking hoofs)
-Fly spray
-Fly mask
-Sunscreen (for babies)
-bucket
-feed/water bowl (may not need if you bored it)
-Something to put your feed in (trash can may not need if you bored it)
-Feed scoop(may not need if you bored it)
-medical bag
-tack (get tack after you get horse)
if you buy a horse at auction in spring/ late fall, bring a blanket in case it is a horse who was kept indoors. because it takes a while for them to adjust to outdoor living/ non boxstall

My brush bag contains, curry comb, hard brush, soft brush, main/tail brush, Bronco fly spray, main n tail detangker, splint boots bell boots, hoof pick, hoof knife, hooflex (prevent cracking and dryness on hoof) bag balm, baby powder (for my ropes, cause I'm a team roper, roping gloves, and spurs

I recommend buying a horse trailer if your getting your first horse because if anything happens such as a hurricane or just an medical energency you need to travel your horse. This is just my recommendation, don't have to, but very useful :)
EDIT: I know this video is about teh basic things to buy for your first horse but horse trailers can be so, so usel. They can be quite exspensive but don't get a horse without as horse trailer :)
I think you should do more videos with hands on things with the horses, otherwise I really like your channel👍

I'm just getting info for what my friends b day but I'm also a equestrian and I hope to get a horse soon. Similar as most people here my trainer is willing to sell me his horse as he noticed that we work really well with each other.

+Gumboot girls Thank you! ❤️ I would recommend putting a blanket on your horse if it's a senior or underweight. Horses change their body temperatures with the weather, so they can withstand very cold temperatures as long as they are healthy. (: If you live where it gets very cold you can blanket your horse.

Just in time because I'm buying my first horse!
I’m getting my horse in the spring and have no idea how big it’s going to be I’m looking for something 14.5hh+ so I figured I’d just Get the basic horse stuff and a bareback saddle pad and wait till I get my horse to get the rest of the tack. I’m trying to figure out what type of bit to use any suggestions?

So my family and I are moving after Christmas and the property we have is 40 acres. The old owners of the house left their two horses and I was doing some other research and you must know those HUGE rolls of hay right? My dad found a seller that's selling them for $30.00! The horses aren't in the best of shape so we are getting one of the huge rolls of hay, we are sectioning off 2 acres to grow alfalfa and we are buying the biggest bag of oats we can find. Also as soon As we can afford it we are getting a vet down to the property to check the horses. I'm SO exitedly! Any tips or something? I have two dogs a pitbull and Chihuahua mix and I'm just worried in case my dogs got out and they got to the horses. I don't even know how the horses act. Oh, yeah as soon as I get down their I'm signing up for ridding lessons from my cousin Cassidy. Sorry for all the questions and rambling.
Awe that’s awesome! ❤️ Alfalfa is great for filling horses out! I would walk the dogs on a leash around the horses and see how the horses and dogs react.

I have a question. do you have a lot of extra time to do like fun things or hang out with friends? because you have the Chickens, dogs, bunnies, 3 horses, etc. So do you find that you still have some time to yourself? sorry if I'm not making sense. but what I'm trying to say is, are you too busy with all of these animals? thanks so much!

I’m so scared! I’m getting my own horse soon and I’ve only been riding for a year! I’m really worried about if I don’t do it right. Tack is probably my a scariest thing right now! I really hope the horse has a nice trainer and will let me buy the tack from them! Ahh I’m just so scared! Any tips?

I didn’t know much either but if you have a friend or coach who rides and knows a lot you can take them tack shopping with you so they can give you advice on that. Also when you get a saddle remember to get a saddle fitter to come fit it for your horses size. Good luck! ❤️
If you go to a saddlery some will give you a free saddle fitting, I got mine at Dover. Even if you don’t get a saddle there, it will help you find your ideal size and style. Your trainer can probably help you size a saddle for your horse as well

Depends on weather or not your barn already has one. You would need to use their water for it, so it would probably change barn to barn. Mine already has auto waterers installed

It varies on the horse and situation. If the horse has access to a lot of pasture or hay, they will need little to no feed at all. It also depends on how active they are. ☺️
