I just picked my N up on Saturday. I'm coming from a 380 wheel hp Speed3 and I've gotta say, even though I'm still breaking this engine in it's still a better handler than my Speed3 was with coils/stiffer sway bar. This car is fantastic. I see a lot of reviews commenting on how low rent the interior is, and I just don't get it. It was never intended to be a luxury vehicle on the inside. The performance was at the forefront. If you get this vehicle, you won't be disappointed.
@@PacoRobbins thank you for your insight bro. People just love to hate, interior looks just fine to me. As far as the handling though, I was watching an imsa race here on UA-cam the other day and the Velosters were eating up the Civic Type Rs in the corners.... who woulda thought all these years later Hyundai/Kia would be where they are now. Truly impressive. Definitely got my eye on the Veloster.
@@Mistadontplay89 agreed man. I had an Elantra GT as my last work vehicle and I swore I would never buy a Hyundai after that total pile of crap, but I watched at least 20+ reviews and read everything I could about this car and I truly don't think there is a better value on the market for a car as good as this one.

Man, that’s a clean ride man!! A lot of time and money invested in it from what I can tell. I bought a 2014 Veloster Turbo R-Spec new, and at the time they were not near as popular. I see them a lot more on the road now, and I’m assuming it’s cause people are starting to realize that they are not only fun cars, but they’re made well. I only wish they were making these at the time!! I currently have over 120,000 miles on mine, and the only issues I’ve ever had (knock on wood), are coil packs and plugs. I changed those and it’s ran like new since then!! I still drive the hell out of it, but will most likely be getting rid of it soon because unfortunately they do not have a ton of room for a family of 4 lol. Regardless, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning one, and would recommend to anyone that is looking at purchasing one; as long as you’re not married with two or more kids lol.
Loved my Veloster Turbo I use to have, 2016 model, great cars. Those N's are sweet, but the Stinger turned me just a little bit more. These are better than the Type-R in my opinion. Less horsepower, but also comes with a cheaper price tag that more than makes up the difference & so far, their value is actually holding up pretty well. Also, from every review I've watched comparing them, everyone has said, even the couple of reviewers that still chose the Type-R at the end, said the N sounded better & was funner to drive around corners & curves.
Joe Raiti is one of my favorite car reviewers! He goes in depth about many features and he does his best to reach out to all his fans. Not many people do that and it allows for a deeper connection with such a great community he is building. Keep up the awesome work!

Joe has been killing it with these videos! This video just cost me a couple thousand in upgrades for my new Veloster N! My wife says “Thanks a lot Joe” 🤣🤣
What an awesome car! I was wondering after your recent glowing reviews of the Honda Civic Type R how the Veloster N stacks up against it. I know this one is modified but the stock Veloster N w/Performance Package is probably my top choice if I could afford to get a new car right now.
Love the N. Lookin to pick up one w the DCT or maybe a mazda3 turbo. Hope to see you review the Mazda3 turbo!! Have a 2015 veloster turbo that’s heavily modded on suspension side and I LOVE it!
What has supposedly been done to get this N to 300 wheel? Because contrary to what joe said 275 is not wheel horsepower in this car, like all cars 275 is the market number aka: horsepower to the crank not the wheels, and seeing most FWD cars lose about 44 horsepower to the wheels, and cross-referenced with dyno runs I’ve seen, this car would be making 231 wheel, which is an okay amount of power, but I’m not sure if essentially slapping on extra weight (like carbon fiber goodies) and skirts is really contributing to a quicker car. But more importantly, I’m not sure how pretty much an intake, exhaust and tune, is supposedly pushing this N up to 300 wheel. 300 crank? Maybe, but wheel? Not so sure.
A tune, full exhaust, intake on a 275 crank hp car could see 60-70hp. That's also putting in question what the real numbers are for it stock from the factory on a dyno, so many manufacturers put lower numbers than what these cars are putting out.
Ryder21 yes, you are more or less correct, but not exactly, people like to talk about horsepower this and horsepower that, but the numbers you see most often (like that 275) are crank numbers, not usable wheel horsepower, so even if those mods added... let’s shoot high and say 75, those numbers (like the engine power output are CRANK HORSEPOWER not WHEEL HORSEPOWER so while for example and intake may say “you’ll see 15 hp of improvement” those numbers are based on estimated crank numbers 9/10 times, not individual specific dyno runs for one part.
@@GSX.YYY_ I did look up a few dyno videos of the stock N and they put down around 240 wheel and 250 torque so the numbers are pretty spot on :p I just can't get over the tuning ability out of the box with these newer cars, especially like the Mk6 and MK7 GTI. I'm ashamed to say outloud how much money I've put into my WRX out loud lol
Just got my N last Saturday. I absolutely love the car so far. Only have about 200 miles on it so still in the break in period, but I'm excited to get it there so I can really get on it.

If the hot hatches are your thing, then the Veloster N is a no-brainer imo. The owner probably got this car and the performance mods for less than what one would pay for a Type R. Such a wonderfully weird, gorgeous car that I hope to make my daily next year 😁
Been waiting for another Veloster N review from you! I'm considering one. That or the BRZ, speaking of which your reviews on them are amazing! Is Lori still happy with hers?
wow I said I wanted this car as my dream car (budget--actual is a Viper but expensive) but now I really really really want this. And that boost after sound=gorgeous. Eric well done and thank you Joe for reviewing this! I really hope they get the new configuration out for Veloster N, hopefully giving ppl the option to put in the backlit performance seats for a manual setup. Again well done definitely makes me want to upgrade. I did like seeing the VelosterN at the DC auto show this year. The reps were quite confused when I asked and showed will they ever put the Performance model they teased that Joe, you showcased in I believe the LA autoshow review. But God what a rush. Definitely need me a VelosterN
@@RaitisRides nothing beats it sporty drive with bonus of practicality. Amazing I think Hyundai's quickly catching up to guys that have been in business longer than them. So the WRX STI, Civic Type R better watch out.
The suspension mods he did on his Veloster makes me appreciate the mods I did for for my beetle. Too bad you're on the East Coast my beetle is heavily modified on suspension and braking thanks to some ECS coilovers, H&R front and rear sway-bars, PowerStop cross-drilled rotors with carbon fiber ceramic pads and red painted calipers, ECS stage 3 front end upgrade, ECS stainless steel brake lines, 18x8.5 TSW wheels, and some Michelin Pilot 4S. I love taking it out to canyons. Perfect setup makes a huge difference.
Veloster N owner myself, love the car, hate the fact that he put all that fake carbon fiber sticker on the trim, yet has a $2k real carbon fiber spoiler?? Keep it all real man! Dont be putting these fake ass stickers on such a nice car.
I used to own a Hyundai Sonata with the turbo 2.0t engine that suffered from engine issues so I had to threaten legal action for my Hyundai dealership to buyback the car once it died on me at 99,788 miles. Do you all think this thing would suffer the same engine issues as previous Hyundais?
Man what part of Lakeland does Eric live in I lived in Lakeland my whole life and all I see is old beat up civics sounding way too loud and 2011 dodge chargers with 22's on em and maybe a 350z sometimes lol 😭🤣
Yeah, he’s talking about it being faster than a stock R. A simple downpipe, exhaust, and tune in a type R would destroy this N. K series are way more reliable, not to mention, Honda will hold its value much better.
I have a type r and no way a veloster n beats a type r ive raced veloster n with stage 3 and not chance agianst the type and im on base tune from hondata
@@Dailyshart You must be fun at parties. I drive a civic sport rn that's full bolt on & tuned I love Honda but I'm getting my N brand new for less than 30k so I think I'll be ok. I did like seeing the VelosterN at the DC auto show this year. The reps were quite confused when I asked and showed will they ever put the Performance model they teased that Joe, you showcased in I believe the LA autoshow review. But God what a rush. Definitely need me a VelosterN
I am so glad that I could showcase this one for you!
@@RaitisRides nothing beats it sporty drive with bonus of practicality. Amazing I think Hyundai's quickly catching up to guys that have been in business longer than them. So the WRX STI, Civic Type R better watch out.
@@Pin-Din7 I could not agree more.
Its rumored to be getting a bump to a 2.4L turbo engine. Thats what will push the hp and torque past type r levels
Raging Raiti always killing it
Thanks man! I appreciate you letting me share it with you!
Guy down the street fron me has one & it IS impressive! Much more than the 1st gen car in general..
Great video as always! Interior looks so cheap and down. Great mods and add ons. I'll still take my golf R stage 1 any day💪
Thanks Shane for letting me share it with you! The interior is the sore spot.
I have liked that wheel for over 20 years!
I see what you did there Greg!
@@RaitisRides haha, I am serious, I looked at those for my 93 rx7
@@gregkramer5588 They would look great for sure!
Fell in love with the car instantly but the GODZILLA TOUCHES MADE ME COOM.
Thanks ! I did not know about stainless steel brakeline ...
😍😍😍 Thank you for bring us that hot hatch!!!!!
Hyundai and Kia are well known to be problematic. Please don't get another one.
@@Authorthings all cars have issues 🤦🏾♂️
this is the most clean N veloster ever. Very good taste owner!
Man what part of Lakeland does Eric live in I lived in Lakeland my whole life and all I see is old beat up civics sounding way too loud and 2011 dodge chargers with 22's on em and maybe a 350z sometimes lol 😭🤣
That is a great question!
North Lakeland my friend
I don't get the appeal of flat-bottomed steering wheels. This looks much more better.
It frees up some space.
Raiti's Rides true
Love those crackles and pops. I wish the Type R sounded this good.
I know right!
I don't have the Veloster N but I sure do love my Veloster Turbo.
Great cars!
The road test begins around 13:00. You're welcome.
Could I know the list of what the guy did and how much it cost because I’m interested in tuning mine
Never clicked a video notification so fast !!!!!
You are awesome Jose!
"is it faster than a civc type r? Um yeah." I love it😂 I'm getting my N in less than a month I'm so excited
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
I'm only 23 I got time to get whatever cars I want in the future. You find a link to a brand new type r for less than 30k lmk and I'll buy it immediately.
@@opadilla123 you sound mad that there's a car performing equal to yours for less than 30k. No one asked about your car. Pipe down buddy.
First of all many thanks to Eric for allowing Joe to bring this vehicle to us. Love the colors. Love the carbon fiber. Not a fan of cars being lowered. The wheels look like they could start rubbing at any time. Joe lost some of us lay people a little with the lingo. 😃 Eric did a fantastic job with this Veloster N. It’s beauty. Great review once again Mr. Raiti!! 👍
Thanks Louis! I will try to explain that a little better in future reviews. Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
Thanks man...no rubbing at all perfect setup
@@NClubFL You are 100% correct!
Raiti's Rides - No worries Joe. I was being facetious about the lingo. We can figure it out. 👍
Its not a type r killer by any means. Hell it might be a Focus st killer at best. Either way its still a pretty bad ass little car.
I love the Veloster’s! I have a turbo and I love every time I get behind the wheel
He killed it! That car looks amazing
In Nov 2019, I bought the 19 Hyundai Elantra Sport (lava orange). Part of the deal was to put carbon fiber rap on the hood and roof. My all seasons have nice after market "Fast" black rims and tinted windows.
I wish I could post the pic here. But cannot. But it looks similar.
Great car. Joe can you put a list or a link to the performance parts used.
