The New LCC27 LPG Gas Cylinder Fittings for Australia

- LPG cylinders will be coming out soon with a new fitting called a LCC27. There's a good chance that your current gas bottles use a Type 21 or POL connection.
LCC27 fittings offer improved safety features, including an easy-to-use right-hand threaded external ACME connection, and a back check valve that must be engaged before gas can flow. In addition, there is a thermal cut-out on the LCC27 appliance connection.
Here's what you need to know
My favourite feature of the new connection other than the check valve is that the plastic fitting on the hose is designed such that in a fire it melts quickly, ejecting the hose and the check valve blocks the gas escapaing - great safety.

Here in the states, my propane generator did not run with those connectors as they did not open the internal valve enough to allow proper flow.
You don’t have to rush out and change over, the Older style will be still available for a few years yet with current fittings, if you have brought a gas bottle before these rules came into effect your bottle and fittings will be current till expiry date on bottle.
I wish they would mention which fitting it when buy equipment. Make sure to purchase at Bunnings if buying new BBQ as they are a lot cheaper then the Swap n GO
A new LCC27 valve can be fitted to old cylinders at the 10 year test. Also the check valve is on the cylinder, not the hose (speaker pointed at the hose connector when mentioning that point). People may never need to change appliance or camper/caravan connectors unless they have to replaced for some other reason such as damage.

I was informed that only 1/100 of the "old" POL fittings would leak if connected to the black valved cylinders. Blow me down I was that 1/100!
They should make adapters for the old ones to be like the new ones that way you dont phsically have to buy a new gas bottle with the fitting on it . Just my thoughts.
Yeah we thought the same thing - annoying to say the least. Our gas guy was telling us the reason they dont give an adaptor is that they are trying to reduce the need for them - as this is another source of leaks. But yeah - Still bloody annoying you have to get a new bottle!
I'd hope the gas bottle swap places will just accept old-style-for-new; just like now if you bring in a bottle that's just about on its certification expiry date, they'll happily still swap it (for a bottle that's nearly as old - but at least it's been inspected, right? ;-).

Just swap and go for same size, you are returning a rented item, they are required to change it to the new Saftey standards…
So there isn’t a issue swapping for new style valve at all, do it myself with my 3 bottles as they became empty
Adaptors are not allowed (from VIC ESV web site): Adaptors must not be used to connect an appliance with a new connection to a cylinder with an old POL valve. Adaptors are an additional leakage risk and the change from right hand thread on the appliance LCC27 connector to left hand thread on the POL cylinder valve means tightening one side of the adapter risks creating a new leak at the other end of the adaptor.
@@platinumcampers8568 You don't have to buy a new cylinder, they will be upgraded at the next 10 year test (assuming they pass). Every 10 year test I've had, they replaced the valve on my cylinders, so not even an extra cost, though the new valve may cost more than the old POL as they have a check valve now.
But how do you fill the empty gas cylinder you've just bought? Can you just take the empty one in and swap it for a full one and pay the difference?
There is a way to get the fitting changed - But it costs - and generally not worth it.
Otherwise its waiting till finished and doing a swap and go
