😂You guys are so real!!! Jim says “that’s what you think”, Tara says “Godspeed”! And of course, he remembers NONE of the first date…sort of “sure, what she said”. LOL😂
At 17 years old (43 years ago), the first meal I cooked my (now) husband was fried chicken cutlets, frozen corn, and Kraft macaroni and cheese. Luckily, my cooking skills have vastly improved from those early days 😂
I like watching how somebody handles messy foods... then watch table manners. If somebody eats and talks with their mouthful... game over. Great episode!
My wife and I both ordered the lamb special on our first date. That was the last time. We order variety and share. I got the share covered, now I just need to like. 😅
I've been watching your cooking channel for about 6 months but just subscribed to this podcast. This was great! You guys made me smile and laugh through the whole thing. Love this!
Just as you said Beef Bourguignon, I was thinking a really good beef stew (or chicken if they don't eat beef). That's always delicious and easy to eat. And it would be nice to leave the potatoes out of the stew and serve it with roasted potatoes. Some chocolate ice cream with a little hot fudge and wet walnuts for dessert. And I would definitely serve red wine. One sitting of drinking red wine isn't going to stain your mouth unless you drink too much which shouldn't be done on a first date anyway. A lot of it obviously has to do with what you date likes too.
Love the podcast episode as always. Completely unrelated question here but a curiosity around podcast production. Why does Tara always have headphones and Jim does not?
A lot to comment on in this one, but I can't imagine any of this mattering to a young person on a date, first or otherwise. The burger and the gyro are a good idea, but when you got into one or the other of the pair making a meal, it got a little wild. One suggestion (since I can't begin to comment on some of what you brought up) is that, if you make a dish while you're together, then somehow share the prep and the cooking. That would be the closer or the loser. This was interesting, but I'm figuring younger folks should have to figure it out for themselves. By the time I was seriously into food in my twenties, my go to dishes were either chili or my signature pasta sauce, which are both family favorites to this day fifty years later. Many other subjects you brought up here, but I'll just sit and listen and keep my mouth shut. It's a cold night here in the northeast and the North Fork, and tomorrow I'm making sausage, peppers, onions and potatoes for a comfort dish with the love of my life.
Whoever does this on a First Date is brave. When I DID date many years ago, I would only meet the guys at a PUBLIC place for a non-alcoholic drink. I never would agree to go to their place and they did not come to my place. It's just too dangerous for a single woman to do either one of these nowadays. I only cooked for the guy I was seeing on the regular after dating for a few months. No public dinner dates until after the 1st date and we clicked. Maybe you can change the title of the podcast to "After dating exclusively". BTW, I've been happily single and boyfriend free since January 2010. My mantra is - No boyfriend = no problems.
lol! Chicken fingers! First date meal was at a local Pizza place in the area ( no longer in business and now is a sushi restaurant )and saw the movie Titanic and theater was packed!
I would Never invite anyone over my place for a First date! I'd save that for after a couple of dates, after you know them better. A restaurant is a much safer choice. Too many weirdos out there. Sorry...I'm not into steaks and never order them. Too expensive too.

"That's what you think." Lol, James.
This was really fun. I really liked the idea of tapas. It is something you can share and try a bunch of different things.

I like to have a really great dessert. Make it the day before and finish the date in style. I like a Limoncello Cheese Cake.
Don't forget the whipped cream. 😊
Fun episode! Thanks for sharing.
"What's with the life jacket???"
"Dork thinks he's gonna drown!!!"
Sorry, I had to. Back to the Future quote.

Y’all are the cutest!! ❤😋😋🥳👍🏻
These are just good ideas for dates. Doesn’t need to be a first! I’m sure my wife would love a tapas night.
First date at someone's house? Not! Maybe a picnic in a public place. Oh, I just heard Jim say "First cooking date." OK, that's better! 😊
What did Tara have on the first date? Good job with the Gyro Jim!!! You’s guys are a cute couple 😂
Tara here - Embarrassing, but I had chicken fingers. 😆
🤣
lol! Chicken fingers! First date meal was at a local Pizza place in the area ( no longer in business and now is a sushi restaurant )and saw the movie Titanic and theater was packed!
I knew she was gonna say Beef Bourignon lol
I think tapas is a great idea because you can share and it would cause some type of bonding lol
1/2 teaspoon of sugar gets rid of hiccups. I get hiccups if I sneak a meatball before dinner 🙄
Casanova😂
Are you filming in a refrigerator???
