    This is a close-up shot of the head mechanism on my hexapod. The design is similar to a differential gear setup. The idea was to use three larger motors to operate a much smaller mechanism to achieve 3 degrees of freedom. Attaching three motors directly to one another would result in an enormous head/neck. The program running was used to move the head continuously to help break in the gears and linkages.
    Solidworks was used for the design. Just like the rest of the hexapod, all plastic was fabricated using a dimension BST 1200es 3d printer by Stratasys. There are 11 bearings to help make things work smoothly.
    I took this video in February of last year; this video is long overdue.
