Tomar-Re is the Green Lantern of Krypton's sector. He actually considered it his greatest failure that he failed to save the planet. He was told while retiring to take solace in the fact that Krypton's destruction allowed Kal-El to become one of the Universe's greatest heroes.

Interesting choice to do Emerald Dawn over Secret Origins. Secret Origins is really great, though I havent read Emerald Dawn so Im pretty hyped for this episode.

Do more Green Lantern stories like the one where the guardians leave to go off to meet some pretty aliens and the power battery is destroyed and the Green Lantern Corps is just disbanded and all there is now is the earth Green Lanterns after that do The Road Back which is about old Hal with white streaks in his hair coming out of being a loner to going back to being a Green Lantern.

Johns did write his own Green Lantern origin book called “Green Lantern: Secret Origin” which in my personal opinion is a better story. It’s basically a buddy cop story with Hal and Sinestro.
I've had a rough week. I've been sick with the flu and burning with fever, my grandpa passed away, and my computer died, causing me to have to Frankenstein one together from parts I had lying around. And what do you know, an episode of back issues comes right when I needed it. Thanks for doing what you do, guys.
DC: The New Frontier is Hal Jordan's one true origin in my mind. But, this is alright I guess.

Tomar Rey tried his best to delay the destruction of Krypton but the laws of the Green Lanterns wouldn't let him directly save them because it was a natural event. It doesn't help that the hopeful and best replacements for him were Lara and Jor-El, Superman's biological mother and father.

I think Johns changed it to be Atrocitus that killed / made Abin Sur's ship crash, havent read Johns' run in a while but i know he changed some stuff about the origin
Alright, here's a fucking doozy for you- The Origins of Donna Troy. You might want to get a whiteboard for this one to keep track like PCP University explaining Kingdom Hearts.
I prefer the much later on _"Green Lantern: Secret Origin",_ but only because of the additional plot points of weaving in Atrocitus causing Abin's crash, the War of Light/Blackest Night stuff, and Sinestro and Hal's blossoming friendship/rivalry... The rest is borrowed from this in a major way, and that's because it's not a bad story in need of major rework- which for the era is saying a lot.
Personally, my favorite GL origin is "Earth One", but this one, by far, is the funniest one. Or at least, the POPCrew made it funny. I think this is the most I've heard the trio continuously laugh in a long time.
