My ex spent a lot of time involved with law enforcement in LA. He had been a drug dealer and the police wanted the people he worked for. They did a traffic stop and dropped a bag of drugs at his feet and told him not to complain about it, saying "we should have had you a long time ago." They brought him and his wife into the station. His wife was pregnant. (This was long before we met.) They told him that unless he gave up the names of the people he worked for, that his wife would give birth in prison and they would bury him in Alcatraz. He asked his wife, in Spanish, what she thought he should do. She replied that he was the man, and it was up to him. He did not snitch. His wife gave birth in prison and he was sentenced to 30 years in Alcatraz.@@ProfessorTechNerd
I might buy this to study and read for my post-grad. Most of the docs they send me are PDF. Occasionally html. I really need to reduce my screen time. Reading on a regular tablet hurts my eyes! I can't seem to find a better option than the scribe. Thoughts?
It is MUCH easier on the eyes than a laptop or tablet. PDFs can be a bit cumbersome to get on but you can mark them up. You might look into the Remarkable tablet as well, but admittedly it's hard to beat the Amazon Kindle store ecosystem aspect of it. Amazon has a good return policy so you could try it out and see if it is too cumbersome or if you can work with it well enough for the PDFs and marking them up. Anyhow, thanks for watching I appreciate it!
@@ProfessorTechNerd turns out the scribe is on sale, online only, so I went ahead and bought it from bestbuy. I heard it can be cumbersome too, but none of the other e-ink options are any better in that price range. Thanks for the reply, you really helped me feel better about my choice :)
Looks like a nice one for reading, but the moment writing comes in, it comes across as something from the 80s, clunky, restrictive - and very expensive.
I think the key is to take advantage of some of their sales during prime days and if you have something to trade in to get the 20% off even if it's an old fire stick that would be the way to go. It could bring the cost down significantly, especially if it's on sale plus 20% off that's ideal.
It comes off clunky b/c Professor Technerd is a left hander. The Scribe's writing experience is one of the best out there in the e-ink market, even if the software is very limited.
For very basic note taking it will work, but you might also consider a Samsung tablet or and iPad Air as well depending upon what your subjects in school are.
Not sure about every 20 pages, on average I have changed them out every 4-6 weeks. I get more than 20 pages out of them during that time, but I guess it depends how much pressure you write with, so it may vary.
A lot of people have that experience with Kindles. I find that you really have to commit to using it, that is so easy to consume media on a phone and get distracted too.
I use my paper white way more then i thought i would. i use to never read because im dyslexic so it was just to annoying to trying but i heard kindles had got a dyslexic fount so i wanted to give it a try. it was a game changer, iv read around 9 books the past 2 years since i got it thats more then iv ever read before in my life!!! ( outside of school, for fun ). id like to get the scribe because of the bigger screen, i also have ADHD so i think it will help me focus.
@@diamondly6250 Thank you so much for sharing. I did not realize this functionality was available. I will definitely share with my students and friends so I know are dyslexic. Thanks for getting the word out.
Just bought it, but the pen writes without touching the screen :)) anyone has the same problem? Please help!
Usually it's something wrong with the nib. Replace the pen nib or make sure it's pushed in all the way.
Never.had this issue, I would return and replace it.
The book you were reading, "City of Inmates" looked really interesting, so I got a copy to read!
Hey! That warms my heart! It's a great book and she's a great writer and scholar!
@@ProfessorTechNerd Thanks for the kind reply! I will be reading it on the Scribe I just got today.😊
@reneeaubuchon6683 Enjoy! Let me know how you like the book!
Will do!@@ProfessorTechNerd

Hi thanks for your review. I notice that you are left handed. Did you have any issues making notes, i e. Setting off menu options etc.
Thank you
Sorry for the late reply. I did a couple of times but just adjusted my hand a bit and it was fine.
Hey! Thinking to buy it for uni for mainly for note taking. What are your thoughts ? Just a basic note taking to switch from paper notebook.
For very basic note taking it will work, but you might also consider a Samsung tablet or and iPad Air as well depending upon what your subjects in school are.
From what I've hear, is it true we have to change the tips every 20 pages? And those tips are sold separately and no so cheap.

im going to test it because i really want a bigger screen but i always read in bed so im not sure about the weight
Amazon is good about returns so give it a try and send it back if it doesn't work for you.
Don’t use mine as much as I thought.

@@ProfessorTechNerd I love my kindle paper white and my kobo libra. The scribe just don’t get much use.
The portability is way better with the Kindle paperwhite for sure. It's way easier to pop open and start reading.

64gb is such over kill
It can save audiobooks so that is why, but for books it is totally overkill. They do have a 16GB model too.
your boring
Actually I'm loads of fun 😂😘✌🏽
